“Too busy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

During high season, you're always guaranteed to travel in the busiest time & this was no exception! The only time we had sun loungers was when we got up at 7am to reserve them with towels, the rest of the stay we stayed on the (very dry) grass.

The good things, however, were the beautiful bathroom in our room & the fact that there is a shuttle bus, which takes you to the city centre throughout the day (again, the bus was very small so often it had to do 2 or 3 runs). Staff were average, not particularly friendly but did speak English.

The hotel has a spa & offered us a free Hamam upon booking, which was excellent. The pool was large, clean and not too overcrowded, which was great!

If your like me and you've already booked and are now reading the reviews your probably wondering just quite what to expect!.....so here goes.....
Positives:
1. it's a lovely, large hotel, beautiful reception area, big rooms, fantastic shower!
2. Location outside of hectic marrakesh which we liked
3. Shuttle bus every 2 hours takes you into the old and new city
Negatives:
1. Let down by all inclusive. Not a very good offering, they'd probably be better off half or full board. Really hard to get any drinks, even water not easy as neither easily available and soft drinks are served in the smallest of glasses. Food was ok not a wide selection but we ate well, it was also low season so less people about. We didn't get sick. Top tip drink coke avoid tap water this includes ice and when brushing your teeth!
2. Not really a negative but it's predominantly French speaking so brush up on what you learnt at school, I quite liked trying it out again!
3. In peak season I can imagine its VERY busy and with limited facilities I.e. one pool, one outdoor shower, 2 tennis courts, 1 table tennis table, fewer loungers than guests.......
Nevertheless, a holiday is what you make it, remember this is a 4 star not 5, we had a great time, morocco is definitely a cultural experience, we went on some excursions (essaouira and atlas mountains) and explored the city ( the medina is chaos!!)..... Research and enjoy!

I have just returned from Marrakech after spending a week on my first holiday with my boyfriend on an all-inclusive basis.
I did read reviews before I went but always take with a pinch of salt, so went with an open mind.
We booked flights, transfers and hotel seperately and after getting picked up from the airport, it was approximately a 25 minute drive to the hotel. Upon our arrival, reception staff spoke very good english and were helpful. We were in room 1153 which was first floor and had a view of the side gardens. The room was cleaned everyday, had fully working air con, and towels got changed daily. Only slight downside...no english channel on tv.
The breakfast had an array of pastries, cereal meats and eggs. The lunch was the best part with meats, salads, chips etc but the dinner was hit and miss. There was also pizza available at the bar from 3pm.
Couple of downsides....the hotel is catered for the french. So if you can understand or speak a little, it is much easier. The entertainment guys were fantastic, especially Didi. He tried to get us involved in the activities but as they were conducted in french without a translation so it was difficult. Also, the pool bar staff wouldnt serve us drinks if we were all-inclusive.
There was no scrambling for sunbeds any day, or tables at dinner.
The hotel offers a free return shuttle bus at different times to and from Gueliz (the new town and approx 15 mins drive) and the markets (a further 10 mins). You cannot really walk to anywhere from the hotel, although theres plenty to do from a short drive and a taxi cost approx 100MAD (approx £10). I would recommed the hotel for couples who want a relaxing trip, and Marrakech is a beautiful city.

staff lovely (apart from 2 !!) rooms big, clean and basic. food dreadful to uneatable.animation team brilliant, especially Didi who went the extra mile to ALL the guests of the hotel, and not just the French. the compare who was fluent in a number of languages including English, REFUSED to speak English and told paying English guest s . that they should speak French !!!!! he made a very bad atmosphere among guests. the English people missed out on daily activities as they were announced in french. the only time he spoke English is when they couldn't get enough people together for pool a pool game. Didi was full of fun, laughter and very approachable, without him i think this hotel would sink, in my opinion he should have been in charge of all the entertainment including the compare. the food was so bad my partner had diarrhea for the last 4 days of the holiday, i didn't start with diarrhea until the last day, put it continued for 5 WEEKS !!!
we were told only 1 drink per person , which u wouldn't mind but every time u went to get a drink u had to queue for around 20 minutes. , then if u forgot to take yr glass back the horrible bar person would tell u off !!!!!, (the rest of the staff were lovely).
if you do go here, please do not go on the fantasia show organised by .Medhotels.com - rep is Rashid. the transport arrived 1 hour and 40 minutes late, we were rushed through the entrance museum ,our evening meal was put in front of us and before we go cutlery they tried to take it way .it was very rushed and courses were missed, we also missed the start of the show (which was very poor). when we informed the rep he said he had to speak to his boss who dismissed our complaints .

Me and my friend stayed here for 7 nights from 30th Aug, we got dropped to the hotel which in my opinion was even more well presented than in the pictures I had seen,
We checked in and got shown to our room which was on the right hand side of the pool up the steps, room 4103. It was gorgeous, couldn't of been happier with the room, lovely and clean, nice balcony, comfy big bed and a single, fridge, tv etc. Shower was amazinggg!! Only downside, ladies, take more hangers, we had 5, not enough for all my dresses lol!!
We dumped our cases and went for a walk round before getting showered and ready for dinner, hotel is gorgeous and so clean, pool area could do with a little tlc as water was sometimes murky but hardly suprising given the fact no one showers before getting in, wasn't overly impressed by the all inclusive drinks system but after making friends with the grumpy old barman it was fine haha!! Ok so dinner.... Bland tasteless and generally rubbish if I'm honest but wasn't a massive deal as breakfast and dinner were fine and there was always something that was ok, not 'wow that was nice' but ok, not far on the shuttle bus to the new town where there are some lovely resturants so we soon learnt to go out of an evening to eat, riad omar in the old town and Elite in the new town were lovely, cheap and def worth a visit while your staying here.( 55dhs for a pizza in elite and 180dhs for a full on feast in riad omar)
English guests are few and far between in this hotel - take a typical english book or magazine to be easily identified by fellow english round the pool!!! Works a treat, we were 2 of 16 english guests in the hotel, we were all friends by day 2 and had an amazing holiday and were made to feel as welcome as possible by the maxi club staff, anas, ridwane, kamal and didi are so friendly and really try to get you involved in everything, all the entertainment is in french so they help you in english where possible, pool partys are hilarious but be careful if like me on my last night, when you don't want to get in and your wearing a pretty dress and a full face of slap that they don't throw u in fully clothed! I wasn't so lucky and got chucked in twice haha!! All good fun!!

TIPS FOR YOUR STAY - TAKE NOTE:

1) Take plenty of Imodium and hand gel- your going to need it ;P

2) Take a wine glass from dinner and a small jug if they have them out to take to the all inclusive bar so they don't serve u in tiny plastic cups

3) Make friends with the bar man haha! If he tells you there is no wine/beer etc, find the pool and resturant manager, he will whip his bum and your drink will arrive!!

4) Go out for dinner but be careful not to look to much like a tourist in the old town, pickpockets are everywhere so take NOTHING and have your wits about you, remember you can't change the lives of people begging and try not to let it get to you as sad as it is.

5) On moroccan day in the hotel (thursdays) haggle haggle haggle, they tried to charge me 600dhs for a fake louis v bag, I gave him 200!! And don't take pics of the snake charmers unless your prepared to be robbed of 200dhs if you do!!

6) Ignore a lot of the reviews, it is what it is, food not great but weather is beautiful and people were so friendly, we did get up around 8 to put towels on our sunbeds because there was a group of us but not a problem generally getting beds as some have suggested, we sat at the reception end and it was lovely all day. To round up, we had to pay 1.50euro pppn in 'taxes' god knows what these are for but the woman decided to wait until I was 10mins from the hotel on my way to the airport before I was made aware of them (she rang the taxi driver and he had to take me back) so be prepared to pay that when u check out, if u haven't been told about them, ask, because we had major arguments over me not being told until I had left the hotel.

Have an amazing holiday most importantly, its a lovely hotel and you won't be disapointed now you've read this review and are put in 'the real picture' not just people whining for the sake of it! Hope this had helped and Enjoy :)

I absolutley loved this hotel, and if I ever go back to Morocco I definitely will stay in this hotel again. They has a no reserve policy of sunbeds, but no one sticks to this so you can just get up early enough to reserve sunbeds, saying this there are always enough sunbeds just the ones around the pool get reserved really. They have a quite a variety of food, making sure there is always meat and fish. The food is very rich so after a while you do get sick of it, but they have a Bar where you can buy food aswell. The all inclusive drinks are good, however there is only the one bar that you can get them from during the day which can get pretty busy. Rooms are big, clean with mpressive bathrooms. Finally the Maxi club, who work all day and late into the night. They really do make the holiday, they are so friendly and supply constant activities to do, including volleyball, aqua aerobics, water games and a pool party at night. The hotel offer a tourist help to organise your excursions, make sure you haggle and try and get kids free. Some tour guides are better than others, but overall a great service. If you need anything at this hotel reception are happy to help.

I loved this holiday and if I wasnt someone who wants to see more of the world than just Morocco I would go back.
