“An unmissable portal into the Morocco of the 1890s”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Contray to TripAdvisor's map, this is not in Fes but in the heart of the Marrakech Medina, just up from Ali Ben Youssef Madrasa.

There are three floors of wonderful photography from around Morocco from the 1890s which give you a sense of just how little the old town has changed (except for the damn motorbikes!).

There is a terrace with a lovely view across the souks and alleyways and you can have a snack while looking over the Atlas mountains.

There is a also a shop selling prints of the photos should you want to take Marrakech home with you.

“Worth a short visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

Super little museum. A simple display of some great old photographs of Morocco dating back to late 1800's spread over a few floors of a traditional Riad. Little cafe on the roof has good view over the roof tops, although the menu very limited. Nice clean loo and good collection of postcards of the photo's on display as well as larger copies on sale. If you do go, look for the herbalist on the way out (towards the school nearby) ~ the best we found in the city, expansive, beautifully laid out. We were served by a charming man, happy to let us browse & explain what things were.

Extremely nice proprietor. Lovely collection of old photos, and can purchase photos as well. Great rooftop view of the city.

“Calm amongst the "madness"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

After 4 hours of the Medina, we began trying to locate this museum. Not an easy task at all.
We eventually found it and after paying our 40 Dirhams were entertained by the black and white images of Morocco/Marrakech. This was very interesting. The ticket does allow free revisits to this museum.
The museum is naturally a cool place, after the warmth, hustle and bustle of the souks.
The roof top café, provides what looked like good, cheap food and drink. The mint team was very refreshing.
The best part of the café is the 360 degree panoramic views of Marrakech and its surroundings, especially over the Atlas mountains.
Well worth a visit..
After the difficulty of finding the museum, we began to find signs directing you to it....so they do exist....
