“Peaceful retreat in Marrakech medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

The location of this riad is excellent: in the middle of the medina and just a 10 minute walk away from Djaam el Fnaa. We stayed in this lovely riad for ten nights in October 2012. We were the only guests and were generously upgraded to a bigger room. The riad is not particularly luxurious, but it is clean and comfortable and has all the amenities you require. The furnishing is very tasteful with much attention to detail. The entire place is decorated with beautiful paintings painted by the owner Patrick. As soon as you enter the riad you sense the calming and relaxing atmosphere, which is much appreciated in the hecticness of the medina. Patrick and Liliane were very friendly and accommodating hosts. We could communicate fairly well using a mixture of English and French, but being fluent in French as a guest is certainly helpful. Ghita is an excellent cook and made us one of the best tagines we had during our stay. Prices are comparable to an upscale Marrakesh restaurant as well. A typical morrocan breakfast was served on the roof terrace everyday. Basic, but tasty. All in all highly recommended.

Tip:
The nearby Foundouk restaurant is superb

“Like being home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Charming little riad located very close to the souk's north entrance. The owners are very polite and willing to help and at the same know how to keep a distance. It's not a luxury riad but that's not what we were looking for. It's a comfortable, clean and quiet place...like home really. We had dinner the night we arrived and it was by far the best meal we had in Marrakesh. Thank you Patrick, Lilliane and Ghita!

“Perfect retreat in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

6 of us stayed here for 2 nights in May 2012. It was 41c in the city, but as soon as you step into the Dar Nour el Houda, you feel instantly cool and relaxed. Patrick, Liliane and Ghita are superb hosts - no request is too much trouble. The Riad itself has 3 lovely double bedrooms (hint - in summer ask for the one on the ground floor - it stays coolest), and a plunge pool which is lovely to dip into after a day running the gauntlet in the souks. Once you find your way around, you realise this Riad is superbly situated - barely 10mins walk to the main square. Patrick recommended a mssage at his friend's place at Riad Berbere, 1 minute away - we jumped at the chance after spending 3 days in the Sahara - a much needed treat! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: All 3 rooms are great. The ground floor room is very slightly smaller, but much cooler than the 2 on...

“Charming hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2012

The key to a fantastic visit to Marrakech is your choice of where to stay. The Dar Nour El Houda is the perfect Riad to come home to at the end of a hard day's haggling in the Souk. The riad itself and the efforts of Patrick, Liliane and Ghita make this a truely wonderful place to stay. This is Patrick and Liliane's home and they go out of their way to ensure it feels like your home too.

Like most riads it is hidden away in a small alleyway off a relatively quiet street/alley; so I do recommend the transfer: we where met at the airport and taken by taxi to a small square inside the medina walls where Patrick was waiting for us and then led us on foot through the narrow lanes to the riad, seemless and problem free.

The house is a beatifully kept, comfortable and welcoming place. Everywhere the attention to detail really showed and all the rooms, lounge areas and the terrace have been carefully put together to create soothing calming spaces perfect to relax in.

The dinner we had on our first night was fantastic (would definitely recommend) and the breakfast each morning was delicious and beautifully presented and served on the terrace in the morning sunshine.

The thing that stood out most for me though was the hospitality, Patrick, Liliane and Ghita were simply lovely. Kind and friendly and always smiling. Embarrassingly our French was virtually non-existant, however Patrick and Liliane made every effort to talk to us in basic English which made all the difference. I only wish we could have spoken to them more.

Room Tip: All the rooms are gorgeous.

“BEAUTIFUL AND CHARMING PLACE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2012

it was a very nice surprise to arrive there, the place is very beautiful, with very good taste,a bit difficult to find, but once you arrive there you feel very at home ,it is comfortable, for me its my favorite place in Marrakech now, because it is small and only has very few rooms so you feel at home, the breakfast is also very good, and the staff and owners are very friendly .
I very much recommend it . I advise you to take the transfer of the hotel, otherwise it is very difficult for the taxi driver to leave you in the wright place,it is a bit like a labyrinth, but there for also very charming.
