“Lucky and lovely find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We didn't have any reservations for the one night we were in Marrakech, but luckily we stumbled upon Riad Ain. The building's interior was gorgeous and our rooms had a very fancy Moroccan vibe. The riad is located about 15 minutes from Jemaa el Fna (the main square), which is perfect because it was close enough to all the action, yet the area was very peaceful and quiet (and safe!). Another reviewer noted this already, but indeed the google maps location is incorrect (it's actually close to the hospital, SW of Jemaa el Fna).

I'm pretty sure we were the only guests, but the staff didn't skimp out on anything. They offered us tea and snacks when we arrived. In the evening, they prepared the hot tub (it's located on the roof terrace and has a sky light!), set some music and offered us scotch (produced in France by the riad's owner). The following day, we had our breakfast (included and delicious--traditional Moroccan spread of breads, jams, honey, cheese, orange juice and coffee) on the roof terrace again. Even though check out was at noon, they let us use the room till almost midnight (our flight wasn't leaving till after 3am). We took advantage of that and arranged for a hammam and a relaxing massage (hotel offers both)--so amazing.

One con was that the wifi was available mainly in the lobby / ground floor (we were on the first floor and the signal was barely available outside the room).

The staff was always very friendly and helpful. Overall, it has been a wonderful experience and we'd definitely recommend Riad Ain!

We were looking for a place that would be convenient for one night before setting off elsewhere in Morocco, priorities being easy access from the airport without driving through/around Marrakesh, close to a secure car park for the hire car (24h just 200m away, about 30 dirham overnight) and nice of course! This place provided just that: the hosts made us feel very welcome and made sure the room was warm before we went in, the sculpted tadelakt shower was a cool feature, breakfast was very good and arranged early, as requested for our early departure. Overall a lovely place, just a shame we didn't have time to enjoy their additional services (spa, etc..)

I really cant express what a wonderful experience we had. The room was beautifully decorated in traditional Moroccan style. We were served a fantastic breakfast every morning. The dinners were also perfect. However it was the owners and staff that made it so special. We were picked up/ dropped off from the airport by the owner and when my wife was getting directions on what to do around town, the manager offered to take us around. Which he did for 8 hours. On site hamman, massage and hot tub. So easy, fun and relaxing. Way surpassed our expectation. An outstanding value.

Room Tip: Good and accurate photos on web site.

Recently stayed at the Riad Ain for a few nights and found it disappointing.

We had emailed the Riad on four occasions before our arrival inquiring about an airport pick up, as there are photos on the internet of a van at the airport with the Riad Ain logo on the side. We never got a response despite using 2 different email addresses and the online form on their own website. We did not see the van anywhere during our stay and also doubt that emails are ever checked.

We caught a cab from the Airport into the Medina and despite having a print out of google maps and a GPS we could not find the Riad. It is actually in a different location to the google map, the bookings.com map and even the Riad’s own map sketch!

The accommodations could best be described as budget back packer style. The bed was a small double and very hard. The room was smaller than it looked on the internet. The pillow had an unpleasant odour. There was a small, thin cotton ‘cover’ that was meant to be a blanket. The ‘spare’ doona/duvet had no cover so we could not use it. The ‘spare’ pillows in the cupboard were obviously used with dirty pillow cases. The shower did not drain and within a couple of minutes you were standing in ankle deep water and had to turn off the tap to allow it to drain before resuming your shower. The condensation from the airconditioner drained into a puddle in the middle of the room. There was a small wardrobe, but they did not supply any coat hangers, so we could not even unpack our clothes.

There was ‘free wifi, but the cable to the router was broken and would fall out – we happened to see the router on the roof terrace, so made many trips up the stairs to fix it.

We did request a non smoking room, yet there was a used and half full ashtray in our room upon arrival and it remained that way for duration of our stay. In addition the other guests would smoke outside our room and the smoke drifted into the room.

The hostesses did not speak any English. Checking out became a 30 minute ordeal as they did not know how to use the credit card machine and had to call someone for assistance and at one stage went upstairs and got another guest to ‘have a go’ with the card machine.

The previous reviews of the Riad do not seem to match the current state & management of the property. The roof terrace seemed to be largely disused and was covered in washing each day. The lounges and bar dusty. We did not use the Spa or steam room, which were an additional and unknown charge.

The Riad fell well short of our expectations for simple comfortable accommodation and I would not recommend a stay here. At around 90 euros per night the Riad is overpriced.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms on the ground floor, as meals are served outside your room, and guests smoke in this...

this is a wonderful Riad, full of charme and very clean. The staff is friendly, and the food is amazing. The atmosphere is magic, in a quiet area of the Medina, 10 minutes walk from Djemaa el Fna square. Highly recommanded!

This perfectly located Riad near the Palace and Jemaa El Fna is a sylish place to stay with a beautiful terrace! After a long day out in Marrakech it was the perfect place to come back to to relax with a glass of wine or Marocain tea. The owner was extremely welcoming and the staff are very attentive.

A magical riad, with lush decor exquisitely attentive to the finest detail ... a feast for the eyes. This riad right in the Medina of Marrakech is one of the most stunningly beautiful to behold, with an outstanding staff. The spa was outstanding, as was the staff and hammam. Probably the most romantic hotel in all of Morocco
