“When in Morocco, eat at this Lebanese phenom!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

We were looking for some good eats and a little glamour along with our late reservation on a Wednesday night, and we more than got it at Azar. For three people (2 men and 1 woman), we ordered one tasting menu intended for 2 plus 2 extra mezes and had plenty of delicious food. The chicken wings were the absolute hit all around, and I don't normally like wings. The falafel were the most petite but best I've ever had. Also enjoyed the fried haloumi a lot but everything was really very good. For the mains, we had the chicken and the lamb tagine. Chicken was good but lamb was out of this world. That sauce! We ate every morsel of lamb and the sopped up all the sauce with our bread. Dessert was a panna cotta type thing in fleur d'orange/rose flavor and a cheese dumpling in the same flavor profile. Yum. Ambiance was also perfect — mood lighting and a mix of vintage and modern decor. Bathrooms were a special treat with clever custom wallpaper in each stall featuring a different type of souk vendor: slippers, scarves, lotions and potions, etc. There was an energy throughout thanks to the ridiculous but fun belly dancers, friendly hosts/servers and happy customers. Neighborhood was otherwise pretty generic in my eyes, but happy to go out of way for this gem.

“Interesting atmosphere, overpriced food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

We were a group of friends who got sick of moroccan food and wanted some lebanese food. The food was ok, not amazing, meals were very small, everything was pricy relative to morrocan standards, yet we had a good time.. the place is very well designed and the atmosphere is enchanting. Worth a try, better eat something before coming.

“Possibly the worst staff ever encounted, pretentious place, average food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012 via mobile

First impressions of azar seemed good untill we were seated, felt like I'd been taken to wagamama with the tables so close together.
Never encounted such useless staff before no one really knew how to do there job more interested in talking to each other or posing. As mentioned in previous reviews some of the staff were chaotic and outwardly stressed.

After asking the same person 3 times for drinks we had ordered 15 minutes previous we finally got served then later our food came. One of the dishes came out wrong so asked for the correct one only to be made to feel like a liar!

After our meal we asked how much shisha was and the waitress told us 120 Dirham and seated us outside then another member came and said no shisha, when asked why her reply was no shisha! Decided it was time to leave such a pretentious place so got the bill which was thrown on the table to us, card machine didnt work and was told it was my card so they needed another, I advised it definitely wasn't "my card" and used it again and it worked! No thank you either after paying!!

“Great way to start your trip if you are in a group....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

You must book this resturant in advance as it is very popular! Wouldn't worry about arriving before 9pm as the 'party' doesn't start until about 10pm! The set menu is amazing! The belly dancers are very entertaining. A little pricy, but I thought good value. Also the Lebanesse wine is pretty good too!
