“Great service, good value comfortable stay.”

While staying in the Medina won't suit everyone it was great for the 6 of us, we had the whole Riad to ourselves at a great price.

Al Janoub is a good location just inside the city walls at Ali Yacout it's easy to locate and I would recommended for the traveller who would like to experience a snapshot of Moroccan living, while the bustle outside might intimidate some, if I visit again I might hesitate to bring my 5 year old daughter to the Riad. due to the location but we felt quite safe in the area after getting use to the city on the first day and actually found the location it an enriching element of the the experience.

Once inside the Riad itself it's quiet, very cool, comfortable and air-conditioned with plenty of hot water to wash of the dust from your days adventure. There sunroof is pleasant. There are taxis on your doorstep and for approx 30 -50 dirhams for the 5 min drive to Jemma al Fena which is a 30 minute walk or to the new town Guliez. In addition to being near restaurant Dar Yacout a
lovely new spa has just opened just around the corner offering jacuzzi and traditional Hamman treatments and massage at affordable prices. The area seems to be on the up, with the streets being newly paved just as we arrived. We also found the locals to be friendly and helpful. There were a few niggles during our stay but these were adequately dealt with, the most frustrating being the wifi being down for most of our 4 day stay (fixed on the last day) and having to wait a little longer than hoped for our rooms to be ready on arrival. However I hesitate to even mention this here as these issues did not spoil our stay and again efforts were made to resolve them. Our airport transfer was arranged by the Riad at an affordable price. A breakfast of freshly prepared bread, lovely home made jams, honey, tea coffee and freshly squeezed juice was served at a time that suited us by our very pleasant house keeper Amina in the cosy dining room. This room is not pictured on the site but it houses a TV, DVD collection and books. Ibrahim the concierge is friendly and accommodating, he speaks French, English and Arabic (quite possibly some other languages) was present enough to ensure we felt secure this particularly overnight. During the day he would meet us at the Riad at
times when he knew we would
be returning to check if we needed anything and were ok.
Ibrahim was great at giving us local information and taking us to places in the locality such as the supermarket.

The communication with the owners James and Carolyn during the booking process and prior to our arrival was great. I would stay at Riad Al Janoub again and you should seriously consider staying there.

“Home from Home lovely Riad with exceptionally helpful staff, relaxing holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

Thoroughlly enjoyable stay at the Al Janoub, Brahim and Amina made the stay even more enjoyable. Very good value for money.About 30min walk to the Jemma Al Fama square. Not too noisy although down a busy alley way .Amina's food was really good but a bit pricey , you could eat at a good restaurant for the same price.
Owners James and Carolyne Pickering were very helpful as well. They were very flexible and very easy to deal with.Carolyne gave us very helpful tips.
This was our second visit to Marrakech. We stayed at Ansagna resorts Riad Lydines previously which was very pricey. The rooms were bigger at the Al Janoub and the lay out of the Riad was more practical for a group.
Stayed with friends a group of nine. Would certainly like to visit again with my family. Our 21 yr old daughter loved the experience.
Would certainly recommend to anybody.

“Gorgeous Riad, great location”

We stayed here for 6 nights. The decor is wonderful and it's lovely and peaceful whilst being in the midst of the hustle and bustle. All the rooms are beautifully fitted out, full of traditional furnishings. Very comfortable bed, rooms have iPod speakers and everything is of a great quality. Roof terrace is a real sun trap plus the shaded area is perfect for lounging about with a book. 15 mins to the souk, slightly less to the square. Walking distance of good restaurants and 20 mins walk from Majorelle Gardens. Amina is the housekeeper and would heartily recommend asking her to cater for you at least once. Her cooking is divine, the best food we ate in Morocce
