“A wonderful oasis outside Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

If you want a quite place, beautifully kept with a friendly service, les Jardins de la Touhina is lovely. It is a compound about 30 minutes form Marrakech ( with free shuttle to and from many times a day) with many villas, each with three to four bedrooms with a bathroom each, full kitchen and service and a lovely garden and nice size swimming pool. It is an ideal place for a family reunion, friends or, as was my case, for a big wedding. We were spread over 50 villas and were able to spend 3 days together in an idyllic setting. The spa is great, make sure you take a Moroccan steam bath ( with a healthy scrub). The wedding was perfectly organized over three days. The wedding ceremony took place on the premises but also three evenings of fantastic food, great decorations and a lot of small attentions. The staff was helpful, professional and even last minute issues were promptly solved. Pascaline the manager is fantastic. And last but not least the staff can babysit, if your children are too small to stay up all night!

Room Tip: All villas are decorated individually as the owners are different. I saw 4 different ones and they a...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2011

We stayed between Christmas and New Year 2010/1 with two young children (4 and 6) and my parents.
The villas are only a year old, have been completed to a very high specification and are stunning. Three good size bedrooms all en-suite, double-height living room with real fire, beautiful furniture, large garden with pool (a brave swim in December!) and best of all our own housekeeper, for whom nothing was too much trouble.

All of the staff were great - from being met at the airport, to arranging meals (cooked in the villa by the housekeeper), wine, spa treatments, and travel into Marrakech on the shuttle bus which is part of the deal.

And whilst the bus was happy to run whenever we needed it, it'sthe fact you need it at all which is the only major downside of this place. It's about 20 minutes drive to the east of Marrakech, followed by a further 10 minute bone-jarring ride down a gravel road. Quite literally it's in the middle of nowhere. If what you are looking for is a luxurious place to relax in peace, with perhaps the odd trip to Marrakech, then this is the place. If you want to see more of Marrakech and its day and nightlife then you may find the 1+ hour round trip and need to plan ahead takes the shine off things.

Despite arriving very late at night at Jardins de Touhina (around 12 pm) we were met by a very cheerful and helpful member of staff (Pascaline) who escorted us to our allocated villa, whose beauty we did not fully appreciate until we pulled back the curtains on waking up the following morning, looking out onto a huge landscaped garden resplendent with olive trees, rose laurier, hibiscus, lavender, geranium and a variety of other plants, a real feast for the eyes. It felt that we had arrived in paradise! The jewel in the crown for us was the generous sized pool with its cleverly designed enclosed domed area at one end. This was ideal for our young children who ended up spending most of their day in the water but protected from the sun in this covered space. Our first morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by the maid - freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs, pancakes, cereal and coffee which we ate on one of the terraces outside. It's a good idea to arrange for provisions to be left in refrigerator ahead of arrival (which we did) although the Club House provides a variety of foods throughout the day. All the villas here are privately owned and designed of very high standard, the one we stayed in was decorated with beautiful fabrics and furniture which looked like they may have come from from Italy, France or the States, was just gorgeous (see photos). Although the resort provides a mini-bus service (just 200 dirham by the way for the airport transfers, much cheaper than taxis) we decided to hire a car for part of the time we were there so that we could get in and out of the city whenever we wanted, effectively though we ended up spending most time in the sanctuary of our beautiful villa just outside of Marrakech. My husband and I each took advantage of the Spa (best hamman and massage have had at much better prices too than in the city) and all in all, we loved this holiday so much we have reserved to back in September, this time without the children. For us, this is a 5* destination not to be missed, a place to savour and unwind in.
