“Ideal Marrakech accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2010

Beautiful riad. Very central, only ten minute walk to the Jemaa El Fna, but also very quiet. Rooms were clean, comfortable and very well presented. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. A bit tricky to find, but where isn't in Marrakech?

This riad exceeded all expectations. The room was beautiful and the open terrace overlooked the city, the walls of the Baddi palace and a row of storks on their nests. It was near enough to walk to the main square in ten mins but far enough away from the central madness and the very touristy hotels nearer the centre. The staff were very helpful (best for you if you do speak French). A tip to find it is that its location is just through the gate where the Baddi palace and the first alley way on the left (if the palace is behind you) and then first right and it is on your right. One other tip is to bring earplugs because sound tends to travel upwards from the central courtyards of the riad and also the early morning call to prayer will wake you earlier than you may want otherwise. We had a really fantastic stay.

What a beautiful Riad. Right next to the palace and bustle of the Medina yet quiet and chilled. Perfect place for a stay in Marrakech. The staff were super, good breakfast and even a very small pool. Great roof garden overlooking old palace and 30 nesting storks.

If you go to Marrakesh and want to stay at a nice riad on a good location, then you need to stay at riad assalam. The riad is located near the big square where al the restaurants are and the shops. And if you don't feel like going out, you can stay at the riad. They have a nice sun terrace and a outdoor swimming pool.
The service was also excellent! thank you Najib!!!!

I had really a great time in Riad Assalam! It looks wonderful, is very cosy & everything is so clean. The staff is really nice. And the location is also great:
It is not far away from the central square Djemaa el Fna, the souk and the Koutoubia Mosque. You can also walk easily to the Saadi tombes and the Royal Palace.
The next time I'm in Marrakech, I will definitely stay in the Riad again :)

I can't recommend this place highly enough! I have stayed there twice and will return. The minute you walk into Riad Assalam, it's like coming home. The young staff, lead by Najib are warm and welcoming. The rooms are quiet, spacious, air-conditioned and tastefully decorated in a simple moroccan style by the french owner Catherine. There is a terrace where you can eat breakfast or gaze at the nesting stork at the Palace next door. They also have a fast wifi connection downstairs next to a wading pool. The location is perfect - in the medina - a 5 minute walk to the always fascinating Djeema el Fna and there are lots of place to eat and drink in the neighborhood (Berrima). If you want to visit the new town a taxi stand is around the corner making it easy to come and go. Great value, great riad.

A very warm welcome, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable accommodation and relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful riad in superb location, very nice roof terrace. Only concern would be for non-French speaking guests as only the manager spoke decent English and if he wasn't around ... felt a little bit excluded as other guests French, hard to keep up in conversation! Did not care for eating breakfast at low table in central 'hall' most mornings.
