“Perfect Riad for a nice stay in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014

Everything perfect... nice rooms, nice bathroom, wonderful breakfast, quite place, allows you to visit the kasbah area which is not so touristic!
just remember that it's in the medina so that the taxi from airport should charge the fee for inside medina and not outside (that is 70 dh and not 100 dh!

Room Tip: For a longer stay I woudl suggest the rooms with the sofas area

Great service & fantastic ambience.

20 minute walk to Djemaa el-Fna but vey close to other major sites (Saadian Tombs, Badi Palace). Rooms may appear noisy, dark or cold to some people, but then again, it´s the real thing! Riads are designed towards the inside: life develops around the inside patio beating the heat of the desert. Limited english is spoken, but the always-smiling staff finds a way to make it part of the cross-cultural experience.

Incredible value for money. I would recommend it without hesitation.

We have spent 5 amazing days in Marrakesh, partly thanks to Joelle and her Riad.
The rooms are great, the ambiance so peaceful, a stark contrast with the streets of Marrakesh.
The breakfast is simply second to none. Every morning brings something different, delicious and freshly made on premises. Joelle will go to every extend in order to help you, give you tips and accomodate your queries. Next time, we wouldnt bother looking somewhere else and book there.
The value is really good, call her direct!

Room Tip: It is a Riad, so you should expect a little bit of noise from other people as this is a living home...

This review is very much overdue, but has been always in the back of my mind to write for the last few months because my fondest memory of Morocco is the time I spent at Joelle's oasis in the desert.

Marrakech can be brutal on the senses... the searing heat and arid air; the frenzy of tourist buses, donkeys carts, and mopeds that put your dodge and evade skills to the test; the constant attention of souk and street vendors; the tangled smell of exhaust, smoke, spice, musk, and animal odors bombarding your nostrils at every turn. After a long day negotiating with the elements and environs, you will want to retreat to tranquil, soothing quarters. There is no where I imagine I would want to be but at Riad les Orangers d'Alilia.

As soon as you cross the threshold, the intoxicating scent of neroli orange flowers wafts into your lungs and immediately sets the mood. You will be graciously greeted by one of Joelle's amicable French-speaking staff, Younse, Asia, or Kawtar. They are indispensable and will cater to your needs with the kindest dispositions. The riad is kept spotless by them and your room is cleaned daily with amenities refreshed. They offer laundry services as well. Asia and Kawtar are extremely good cooks so I suggest you at least take advantage of dinner at the riad (always three glorious courses long). I took a cooking class with them and now know that the secret to their dishes is not only their careful preparation and attention to detail, but the eagerness to delight.

The riad is stunning. Joelle managed the renovations and decor herself and she has done well to create a space that is all at once romantic, meditative, serene, and elegant. I was placed in the room called "Sarah" which was gorgeously appointed and more than met my expectations. A welcome sign on a heart-shaped slate message board placed on my bed was a nice touch. It's one of the better rooms in my opinion, though the smallest in the riad, as it receives a lot of natural light. Sarah's bathroom window faces the small street to the riad and you do hear life in the medina go on around you through that window, but after 10 PM, there is near silence. The rooms on the bottom floor are larger and have the best access to the wireless signal, but because they are on the bottom floor, they also have a lesser amount of natural light filtering in, but also keep the coolest during the day. It's the typical design of a riad that all windows face the center courtyard. For those interested in staying connected to the cloud, I received almost no wireless signal on my floor and absolutely no signal on the rooftop. No matter, because the rooftop is really meant for savoring your abundant daily breakfast (juice, coffee, bread, eggs, yogurt, jam, butter, fruit) or unwinding with a glass of hot mint tea and biscuits which the riad graciously provides upon your return from your excursions.

The Riad les Orangers d'Alilia is everything you want your home-away-from-home to be and I definitely plan to return.

Awesome experience !!
My boyfriend had planned everything for our stay in Morocco, so I had no idea where we were going to sleep in Marrakech. You have to walk by a small street to get to this riad, so i was wondering where this riad was, and when one of the staff open the door it was like a dream!
You really don't expect to see a beautiful hotel in that street. Like a little oasis in the city!
The rooms are beautiful, the staff is very nice, their rooftop is amazing !
In the morning, your breakfast is served outside on the rooftop, and it was really good!!
Amazing place, really !!!

Booked to provide accommodation between destinations, I had no real expectations.
What a pleasant surprise. The staff were not at all phased by our late arrival and road weary appearance. After 9 hours on the back of a motorbike my wife deserved some pampering and this place provided that. Calm and essentially feminine in character, the rooms are beautifully decorated. The service is attentive and the breakfast excellent. The staff had taken the time to put us in a room with the same name as my wife, a thoughtful gesture and typical of the attention to detail.
I paid the fine for miscalculating my travel times in exquisitely packaged toiletries, part of a small but tasteful range of local products available for sale in the Riad.

Sadly only a one night stop over but I would not hesitate to stay longer

I loved my stay at Les Orangers d'Alilia and was tremendously lucky to find it. I was in Marrakech for the new year but had unexpected problems with my originally-planned accommodations, and therefore needed to change quickly (not easy to do on New Year's Eve!). Even though it was very last-minute, Fatía and Joëlle warmly welcomed me and did everything possible to put me at ease after a slightly stressful day. The space is beautiful, at once intimate but open, luxurious but unpretentious, with really nice fellow guests (French and American when I was there). I would return without hesitation.
