“Oasis of serenity!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

We booked the entire riad while attending a conference and it could not have been more perfect! For us the riad was a peaceful calm cool oasis tucked away not far from the hustling bustling busy Kasbah area in the medina. The owner Joelle and her wonderful staff were the most attentive of hosts and could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Joelle had arranged a private reliable taxi to meet us at the airport and as we arrived late

Just came back from three nights stay at Riad Orangiers d'alilia and am pleased to say that all the people on here that rated it as excelletn were right. The Riad is amazing and so quiet and tranquill which is needed after a day out in the hot and bustly Marrakech centre and Medina. It's tucked away and so advisable that you spend a little while getting your bearings but its very easy to get to the main attractions. Plunge pool was amazing and they serve beer and wine as well which is hard to find elsewhere in the old town. The service is excpetional the staff are always on hand to bring you tea and food as you desire which is all reasonably priced and on a tab which you pay at the end of the stay. The only regret I have is that as we only had a few nights we wanted to go out and experience the nightlife in the main square etc. and so didnt have time to eat at the Riad. We walked past the dinning area one evening on our way out and it looked exceptional with candles lit and curtains drawn. I belive everyone else who says the food was great as it certainly smelt good and if the daily breakfast was anything to go by then it must have been good. The roof terrace allows you somewhere to sunathe if that is your bag.

My only caution is this, it didnt bother me at all but you cannot access the Riad by car and it is down a small alley, the locals are absolutely fine and just get in with their lives but if you are worried at all about people staring at you etc. then this can be a little bit off putting. Not a problem for me but my parents went and didbnt really like it.........

I really, really enjoyed my time and would highly recomend anyone visiting Marrakech to go here. I stayed in "sarah" and although I didnt see all the other rooms I would highly recomend this as it offers good privacy.

Go to this Riad!!

Room Tip: Sarah and India are supposed to be the best.....

With no doubt the best hotel we stayed in to-date. The magical decor and the sublime service stole our hearts the very minute we stepped inside. The host Peter was uber welcoming and Fatia's breakfast was to die for. Would definitely recommend it! 10 out of 10!

What an amazing place. An oasis in the Kasbah. Joelle and her team could not have been more welcoming. From the start of our week when Joelle arranged taxis to pick us up at the airport everything went smoothly. The bedrooms were comfortable, the breakfasts on the roof terrace were to die for. We could not fault the service and every time we came back from our wanderings in the medina it was like coming home - so relaxing. would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Riad Les Orangers D'Alilia for 5 days at the beginning of June. The Riad had arranged a taxi to pick us up from the airport and despite being delayed by huge queues in passport control, the taxi was still waiting. A very welcome cup of mint tea was waiting for us on arrival at the Riad.
The Riad is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Our room (Sophia) was on the first floor ( 1 room is on the ground floor and the other 4 on the first) and was well sized with a good size shower ( with plenty of hot water) with a wash basin and toilet adjoining. The bed was comfortable and large. Even though we were overlooking the alley, the room was quiet and there was air conditioning which we used when necessary. The breakfasts were good (but do not expect a large cooked breakfast) , taken on the roof terrace - a lovely way to start the day. Joelle and her staff were excellent - helpful, friendly and nothing was ever a problem. We had one meal at the Riad which was good.
The Riad is some 15 minute walk from the main square but since it is along roads with shops and cafes, was enjoyable. There are not many eating places near the Riad but the Cafe Kasbah ( opposite the Mosque De La Kasbah) provided a good selection of meals and snacks and the rooftop terrace was a good place to have a mint tea and watch the storks nesting opposite. A more upmarket and very good meal we had at the Hotel Jardins de la Medina ( right out of the Riad and then left for about 100 metres on the right).
We had two trips, one to the foothills of th Atlas Mountains and a coach trip to Essaouira - both worthwhile.
Overall, a very good holiday and we would recommend the Riad and Marrakech to everyone.

The start of our stay in Marrakesh was a bit chaotic as flight was 2 hours late and we made the mistake of not booking our transport through Joelle (which you should always do). The taxi dropped us and we had to walk to the riad only to find we had to go to another one. But Fatiha met us and professionally took us to where we were supposed to be and immediately served us with tea and cakes.
We actually stayed at the Riad Anwinati which is managed by Joelle as well. It is conveniently situated in the Kasbar and walking distance to all the souks and restaurants. Also convenient for taxis to come and go when arriving/leaving from airport or going on excursions.
The riad is very comfortable and clean. The room was a little small but very comfortable and adequate and was at the back of the riad which made it quiet even though still could occasionally hear the call for prayer at the crack of dawn! The shampoo provided had a wonderful scent of orange and was so gentle on the skin.
Joelle herself was so helpful in arranging tours and answering questions. Her knowledge of Marrakesh was good and gave us a good insight to where we might want to go. Interesting to chat to as well and her command of English is very good.
Her two staff members Fatiha and Hasnaa were brilliant. Even though we didn't speak good French and very little Arabic we all made ourselves understood and there was nothing that was too much effort for either of them.
Breakfasts were served up on the pretty terrace with pots of flowers etc. and were really interesting as you didn't know what delights you were going to get each morning and it didn't matter what time you went for breakfast. There was always a crepe, fresh fruit, yoghurt, either a rice pudding or chocolate/coffee pudding, cheese and at least 2 different baked goods which had all been baked in house by Fatiha, who I understand really loves to bake, and they were really good. Even if you had a pot of tea during the day you were always treated to one of the baked delights.
Fatiha also makes a really good couscous and well worth trying but please be hungry as she does spoil you with rather a large portion.
It looked as if the girls were there all the time but they do definitely have time off (witnessed it)and know Fatiha is coming up for some now so hope she enjoys and relaxes.
Joelle arranged with her driver Omar to take us up to the Atlas Mts which was a great day out. Omar was very interesting in telling us little bits of history on the drive up there and stopping at a pottery factory and a typical Bedouin house (always remember to have some change with you for these stops).
I have no hesitation in recommending this riad to anyone and if I should return to Marrakesh it is where I would stay again. Thank you Joelle and ladies for such a pleasurable stay.
