“Oasis of beauty and calm in a crazy city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

We can't recommend this Riad highly enough, it's simply beautiful and the staff fantastic.
We had a beautiful room, very comfortable bed, fab shutters that blocked the light and noise so we slept very well, and a lovely hot shower. Just outside our room we had a balconied sitting area that looked over the central courtyard and the orange tree...really gorgeous spot to relax and read.
The communal rooms were lovely, we spent a couple of evenings in, with a fire lit and eating by candlelight, the table strewn with fresh rosé petals and the best food...heaven. Definitely plan to eat at least one evening here.
Breakfasts were amazing...not to be rushed!
We'd recommend planning your excursions and transfers through Joelle, she is so helpful, and the driver she used was lovely...great English too. We wish we had for our Ourika Valley excursion as our chosen company was more expensive and the outing less well structured than another couple who took the same trip through Joelle's recommendation.

“Great little find - would definitely recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

My boyfriend and I stayed for 4 nights at Les Orangers d'Alilia and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We spent 2 nights in one of the larger rooms, 'Nooa' and were then asked to move to 'India' as somebody had requested the room we were staying in - we thought this was rather strange but it did mean we had a little more privacy with our own outdoor seating area! The rooms are very clean, with gorgeous bed linen and comfy beds. As others have said, it's a little odd that the rooms (bar 1) don't have doors on the bathroom! We were woken each morning by the noise of breakfast being prepared and the copious sparrows which also inhabit the riad- however, this didn't matter to us as we slept soundly during the night in the incredibly comfy beds!

The breakfasts were divine and were one of the highlights of the stay (especially the coffee!) and probably the best breakfast we have ever eaten. Every day there was a fresh new addition and it certainly set us up for a busy day of sightseeing! We had dinner one night at the riad in a private room at the back of the court yard where the staff had laid rose petals on the table and arranged for Morrocon music to be played in the background - lovely touches! The staff are very helpful and discreet, and always happy to make some mint tea when requested!

We felt that the location was very good, although it isn't as central as some people may like. Everything is walkable once you get your bearings and you certainly get the impression that you're staying in the heart of Marrakech.

All in all this Riad was a great little find which we would recommend to friends and family!

“A small riad, beautiful and relaxing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We stayed at this riad for 4 nights- 2 in the room on the ground floor, and 2 on the first floor in room Noa. All the rooms in the riad are very nice and very similar, though we preferred to be upstairs. I saw all the rooms upstairs, except Sofia and would perhaps recommend India, on the grounds that its outdoor sitting space is a little more private & comfortable than the others.
The riad is a beautiful building, very calming amidst the verite of life outside the door. It is small and intimate, and noise does carry but that is the nature of a riad, with rooms/windows/doors off a central courtyard and not problematic. The rooftop terrace is a nice spot to relax.
We liked the location but perhaps some may find it a little too far south of the central sites.
The host and staff are all very welcoming and friendly; breakfasts, 8-11 am, are excellent.
In the evenings we ate round the corner ( 2mins away) at the upmarket Les Jardins de Medina hotel, at Kasbah Cafe ( 5mins) and the more modest hotel, Les Borjs de la Kasbah ( 3mins), after our first night eating-in a prebooked meal.
We used the hotel organised taxi from and to the airport, and for a trip to the Atlas Mts/cascades d'Ouzoud- good and reasonably priced. We visited the Jardins Majorelle, Palais Bahai, Medersa Ben Youssef, the Souks, Saadian Tombs and Jemaa El Fna; taxis were easy to use/negociate.
We bluffed our way into the la Sultana hotel for a non-residents afternoon drink( not always easy to find places selling alcohol) and were amazed by its excess sumptiousnes, if that's your thing; the beer there was no more expensive than Cozy cafe. Also looked-in at the hotel Palais Donab and liked the look of this more central hotel.
Disappointing weather- not hot, but overcast and raining one day- but not the fault of the riad.

Room Tip: I saw inside all of the 5 rooms, except Sofia, and of these I would choose India.

“Lovely property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

My husband and I travelled to Marrakech in December 2012. As other reviewers have said the property is down a rather imposing alleyway however once through the door the property opens up into a light, airy oasis.

The room (India) on 1st floor was comfortable and well decorated in neutral tones however the curtain between bedroom and bathroom made sure we knew a little too much about each others bathroom habits! One small criticism was that the mirror in the bathroom was too dark to use and there was no other one in the room.

The breakfasts in the hotel were amazing. The first evening we ordered dinner and wine and it was one of the best meals that we had in Marrakech, taken in front of an open fire in a little side room. Joelle is a fantastic cook and host.

It was cold in December and the property often felt chilly. There was a heater in the bedroom however it took some time to warm the room.

Overall a very good property however if I was visiting again I would go when the weather was warmer to take advantage of the lovely roof terrace.

Room Tip: 1st floor rooms have a little more privacy

“Beautiful and peaceful escape from the busy city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013 via mobile

Me and my partner both found this riad a beautiful and peaceful escape from an overwhelming but beautiful place. Joelle, the owner, was fantastic she organised everything for us including airport transfers, a local and reliable guide and a great trip to the Atlas Mountains. I adivise anyone visiting Marrakech to get a guide even for half a day, he told us things the guidebooks didn't and was very helpful in giving us good routes back to the riad. The food at the Riad was all fantastic and all home cooked. We had a beautful, very big breakfast every morning which was well needed! We only had one dinner there but it was a delicious 4 course meal, all home cooked again. I really do reccomend this Riad, especially for couples - young or old!
