“irresponsable owners”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014

My husband and I were the only ones staying at the Riad at the time of our visit so the two owners most probably thought “why be there ourselves for 2 lonely souls” and went on vacation leaving us with their staff who neither spoke English, Spanish nor proper French...
The staff was EXTREMELY helpful and did all of them did their best to understand us, prepared perfect breakfasts every morning, did their jobs wonderfully but understandably it was quite difficult to communicate not having a language in common…
Therefore we had no one to complain to when we first found out there was no heating in the room since the air conditioner didn’t work! And all this after having EXPLICITLY ASKED previous to our visit in an e-mail if there was a heating system and having received the answer “of course” immediately. I almost felt stupid for asking at that time! Nothing to worry about, we thought… Well there was! We were freezing, slept awfully and didn’t have anybody in charge to whom to complain to! We were furious!
In the second night we couldn’t stand it anymore so we tried to explain using hand and feet what our problem was and thanks to the staff’s “sign reading abilities” they brought us a steam heater.
We blame the owners for not having cared sufficiently about the well-being of their guests.

And I’m not even mentioning the entrance which was more like hole than a door… I couldn’t pass through it without having to duck down…

Its a nice riad in Marrakesh, near by shopping and eateries. Manager Patricia Stern were nice and friendly, always very attentive, and so are all the staff there. The breakfast and afternoon tea were really great, with fruit. Fresh orange juice.

Rooms are clean and comfortable, its a slightly larger riad and got more rooms. Its got its pros and cons. Pros is more people stay and you got to meet them and mingle with them. Cons is more people more noise, as some may wake up early and some may back in late at nite. And riad normally is enclosed and you got echo. But that is un-aviodable to all the riad.

Overall, I will stay here again if I ever back to Marrakesh, and will recommend to all friends, price are reasonable as well.

Travelling through back streets where the children play, felt like stepping back in time. The door which we stooped to enter revealed a moden airy courtard. This was a welcoming place to stay, nothing was too much bother. I was unwell during my stay, and we were supported with sympathy, extra refreshments and advise about where to get medication. I was not made to feel a nuisance, and recuperating on the roof terrace listening to the city and the birds sing I did not feel I missed out on the holiday experience. You can see for miles from the roof, but all the main sites are in walking distance from the Riad. Patricia, Nadia and Samad have a wealth of knowledge about the area and are very willing to help if thats where to go, getting a good deal in the market, or how to keep safe when out and about. breakfast is served at your convenience and the rooms are stylish, a little basic but good for the price. There is a reading room/ and good free internet access. Would definitely recommend to a freind.

What an experience, a beautiful riad with all features to represent Morocco. The location is good as its very traditional, like something out of prince of persia!! The breakfast is awesome but not forgetting to mention is the excellent service from the staff - Patricia, Nadia and Samad. We went as a group of lads and took 2 rooms, and they defo made it the holiday.. Thanks guys..

**Will definatly return**

The Riad is a charming place where we’ve stayed for 3 nights, but unfortunately is managed by a very rude person! If I would be the owner, Yassine would not be there even for 5 minutes! He is just interested in taking as much money as possible from clients! Breakfast is included just after 8.30am, before this hour you have to pay, even if all the trips that Yassine organizes would start at 8.00. We were a group of 5 pers and we paid Yassine for a private day tour with guide included. In the evening he announced us that the next morning Morocco will have the summer time (one hour before). Next morning we wake up earlier to be ready at 8.00 for the trip. No one appeared to pick us up and after some time, Yassine wake up upset saying that even if the hour is correct, business is running after winter hour. We told him is not correct and his answer was "JE M'EN FOU!" and he shut the door into my face. This was the answer of the person who is calling himself "manager" of the Riad! After some time a person appeared and we have started the tour – that was not private as we have 2 more persons with us. At the end of the trip the guide said he was not paid and didn’t want to believe that we have paid to the Riad. We waited for 10-15 minutes until things got cleared after some calls and guide understood that we paid for everything. Again bad mark for Yassine! The next morning we wake up early to leave for the next destination and he wake up especially just to howl at us that we boil some water for an instant coffee (that we have bought) - in the kitchen that was opened ; and he wanted us to pay for the boiled water! He didn't care at all that other clients see his attitude! He wanted to know if we are journalists - probably to find out if we will write the truth about him in press! He didn't want to issue an invoice on our company name saying that the owner doesn't agree. In the end, we asked for the owner phone number but he said he doesn't understand - in french of course! We travel all around the world but we have never met such a rude and incompetent “manager”! WE STRONGLY ADVISE THE OWNER TO REMOVE THIS PERSON FROM MANAGER POSITION AS IT IS A TERRIBLE LOST FOR A NICE RIAD LOCATION TO HAVE SUCH AN RUDE, UNQUALIFIED PERSON TO CARE ABOUT OWNER’S INVESTMENT! ALSO AS BEING YOUR CLIENTS, WE STRONGLY ADVISE TRIPADVISOR TEAM TO LOOK MORE CAREFULLY WHEN THEY RECOMMEND US LOCATIONS LIKE LES JARDINS DE RIAD LAAROUSS!

My friend and I stayed at this riad for 5 day in February. First of all have to really thank Yassine for making everything so easy for us. We decided to book the transfers to and from the riad and this made things very easy. Yassine met us at the taxi and showed us the landmarks we would need later to navigate our way back home! Very useful! Then we got there we were offered a drink and Yassine took the time to get to know what our plans were. He offered to help us with anything we needed and in fact we did book 1 excursion into the mountains through the riad. However because of this attention we ended up feeling slightly guilty when we sorted our own hammam treatment! The room was great with comfy beds and a fab shower and I was pleasantly surprised that it was bigger than we were expecting. Only one issue was that you could hear the noises from the courtyard at night and in the morning - some of the trips leave early so guests can order early breakfast. Breakfast was great for us, loved the cake and the generous glasses of freshly squeezed orange juice! We were late risers so sometimes hot water for tea was cool, but there was no problem in getting new hot water when we asked. Brilliant location, 10mins walk from the square but very quite and extremely atmospheric. There may be some issues as highlighted however the riad is priced appropriately. I would definitely come back if we were in Marrakech again.
One thing to remember at this time of year is it is cold in the mornings and evenings, so bring layers! We found the people in Marrakech very welcoming, yes people want to sell things and make a buck out of you, but if you are genuine and polite if you are not interested, people do take the time to chat and you get to know a lot more about what lies behind this amazing, colourful culture!!

It's located in the heart of the Medina, 10 minutes walk from the place Jamaa el Fna. Safe and quiet location. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff who will provide you good advice on what to do and where. They'll make you feel at home.
