“Gorgeous Riad. ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2014

Don't expect a tree lined gravel drive approach to the Riad. This is Marrakech, and it's located within the old City walls where buildings sit cheek by jowl and accessed by tiny and confusing passages and alleys and a myriad of tiny shops selling everything you could imagine and then some !!

The unassuming front door leads through to a completely unexpected Oasis of calm and tranquility with lovely comfortable rooms around a central courtyard to die for, and a small swimming pool in which to relax and unwind.

Nothing is too much trouble for Youssef and his wife. The cook made us the most fabulous cous-cous, which we ate (accompanied by a bottle or two of local chilled wine) on the rooftop terrace.

With exception of occasional calls to prayer from the local Mosque ( hard to avoid anywhere in the City) you wouldn't know that you were in the middle of the hustle and bustle around you.

Would I stay here again?
In an instant!

I had a very wonderful experience at Riad Dar massai , here we met the most hospitable people, Youssef,Katija , Asma, & Annick who never fail to greet n surprise their guest. The feeling I Had at Riad Dar massai wasn't only hospitable, when you are there , you feel like you are living in tranquility , away from the hustle of the Marrakech.

Breakfast was fantastic, and we enjoyed the Berber Whiskey or mint Tea prepared by the ladies in the kitchen . Usually after a long walk in the old city of Marrakech we looked forward to going back to the Riad for the tea.

The only downside of the room is the lightings in the room, we would suggest having a small table light on the writing table.

Dinner was fantastic , each time the tarjine was served we already finished eating up the bread.

I like the walk from the main road near the Saadien tombs to the Riad. You could see the poultry, fish n vegetable market. It opens up my eyes as I come from the city.

I brought back very fond memories of Marrakech and I can't thank you enough the people who made Riad Dar massai a wonderful place for my dream holiday. Till we meet again. A bientot

Riad Dar Massai is the perfect location if you are travelling to Marrakech for a few days and wanting to experience the culture and traditions of the city. It is located in the Kasbah, only a few minutes walk from the main square.
The Riad itself resembles a little palace, it is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The only downfall is that the lighting in the rooms is quite poor at night and there was no tv in our room. The continental breakfast was superb and they weren't strict regarding eating times.
The owner at the Riad was most helpful and accommodating, I can't praise Youcef highly enough. As two young girls travelling alone he ensured we always had directions, ordered us taxis, walked us to and from the taxis, organised excursions and was just so good to us.
I'm a pretty fussy traveller with regards to cleanliness and luxury and Riad Dar Massai surpassed all my expectations and is excellent value for money.
Stay here if you are visiting Marrakech!
Thank you Youcef!
Zara and Gemma.

I stayed at Riad Dar Massai with by boyfriend for 4 nights, and we received nothing but perfect service the whole time we were there. The riad is beautifully and tastefully decorated, comfortable and peaceful. But the best thing about it is the staff and the amazing service they provide. Breakfast is any time from 8.30am. We are late risers and were delighted to find that we could have breakfast even at midday! There is always someone there to help if you need something, but the staff also remain discreet so you can enjoy the riad and it retains a sense of privacy.

I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Marrakech!

After a two week tour of Morrocco and staying in various riads, Dar Massai was for me the most beautiful and stylish, a really peaceful haven.
It's position in the Kasbah is a bonus as I found it a less frenetic area, in fact as soon as you enter, walking from the Jemaa El Fna, there is a real sense of calm. It is also an interesting residential area, the locals gather to gossip in the newly done up square by the mosque.
There are good restaurants nearby and the Kosybar is not far if you want a cocktail on the stunning terrace.
Best of all though were the staff, Annaick the talented designer and owner and Youssef the manager were so warm and welcoming, they and the two ladies really looked after us.
I would love to return there and would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

My cousin and I have just spent a week at the Riad Dar Massai and cant praise Annaick and the staff enough, especially the chef who made us some excellent meals. The Riad is an oasis of calm away from the madness which is Marrakech. I would definitely recommend the Riad to visitors wanting a more authentic experience of Marrakech. Many thanks to Annaick for making us feel so welcome.

I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Riad Dar Massai and cannot praise Annaick and all the staff enough. After the hustle and bustle of Marrakech the riad is a calm, quiet, peaceful oasis (had to remind myself to speak quietly). Everyone is so helpful and friendly that I felt I was leaving true friends when I left. The breakfasts are excellent, in fact the food is so good we ate in almost every night. I highly recommend this Riad.
