“Modern Hotel in Marrakesh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2011

I stayed here in September after we were unable to find our Riad in the Medina (arrived at night). The hotel is located in the Nouvelle Ville (new city and outside the Medina walls), which is much easier to navigate and has secure parking located directly in front of hotel, which is highly convenient. The hotel is stylish with a modern bar, restaurant and rooftop bar. The hotel/restaurant/bar was rather empty while we were there but this was most likely due to the time of year. During higher seasons I'd imagine that the hotel would attract a high-end clientele. Overall the experience was a good one. The staff is very diligent and helpful, the rooms are sizeable and very modern.

However, the experience is comparable to staying at any W hotel in any major city. The main question to ask yourself is whether you want to stay in the Nouvelle Ville or in the Medina. For a more authentic experience of Marrakesh I recommend staying at one of the many top notch Riads w/in the Medina (recommend Riad Argan). The benefit of a Riad is twofold (i) you're staying directly in the heart of the old city and (ii) the level of attention/care at Riad will be much more personalized and will enhance your overall experience. Finally, the value at a Riad is better.

Me and my partner stayed one night at Bab Hotel after a terrible experience at a previous hotel. We booked a standard room but was upgraded to a deluxe room free of charge without asking. Hotel is extremely clean, comfortable, smells amazing in all areas including bedroom and staff are exceptionally attentive and friendly. We would most definitely stay at this hotel again. The only downside would be that our bedroom was quite dark but apart from that it is difficult to find fault with this hotel.

Room Tip: Our delux room was quite dark so if you like a lot of light, perhaps ask to view a few rooms first

My friend and I stayed here in March. We had a bit of difficulty getting there - the taxi touts at the airport are awful! Try to arrange a pick up or get the bus into the city and ask the driver. He dropped us off about 50m from the hotel :) However, on arrival we were very pleased. The hotel is very cool and stylish and seems to be the local hot-spot - lots of people in the hotel bar when we arrived. The room was nice, although as you could see through from the room into the bathroom it was a bit weird when sharing with yiour friend! Good points - free movies in the room, great decor, free drink on arrival!! Bad points - rude receptionist, pool is so small it's not worth bothering with. Overall though, it was a blessed relief to be outside the Medina in the relative quiet of the Guilez area and the hotel was very cool and stylish.

Stayed here just one night before we moved on to our destination. Was a lovely hotel and so glad we booked it for our first nights stay. Had a double deluxe room which was very spacious, clean and modern. Huge 50 inch flat screen tv. Bathroom had large bath and very large walk in shower.

Hotel is in the new town with many shops, bars and restaurants nearby. We had breakfast in the hotel which was very enjoyable. We had our evening meal across the road at La Trattoria which was a great find, lovely food and reasonably priced.

The bar area in the Bab hotel is wonderful, gets very busy at night and serves lovely cocktails and finger food.

Definitely would recommend this hotel if you want modern and contemporary surroundings.

This hotel was an oasis of calm after a frenetic day in Marrakech. The staff could not have been more helpful, our room was so comfortable, clean and quiet. I loved the modern bathroom and the bed was excellent. Fresh fruit in our room and nothing was too much trouble by all the staff. The swimming pool was located in the restaurant and was very small, a bit of a waste of space but that was a minor detail. We felt as if we were leaving good friends when we left the Bab.
Can I suggest that you AVOID 'Fantasia' like the plague it was quite horrific, dreadful food and a dire show - very much like a Monty Python Production/ Life of Brian.

After being at 3 other hotels while in Marrakech (due to business and an attached vacation), we cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. It is so clean. The rooms are beautiful, very modern and white. The bathroom was gorgeous with two sinks and two shower heads (we stayed in a junior suite).

We moved to Hotel La Renaissance (because it on designhotels.com) and were disappointed in comparison, despite it also being fine.

The Bab Hotel is stunning.... BUT it lacks atmosphere. The staff can be rather rude if you don't speak French and it was only on our fourth day out of the seven we were there for, did the staff actually make an effort with us.
The rooms are beautiful. The bathroom floor is from slate and you need to be careful you don't slip. There are 2 basins also and one of them was always blocked up.
The bed is SO comfortable. The TV which should have Internet with it - well it doesn't. The films were good and for free, but after a few days the movies stopped working and crashed the TV. The rooms are not soundproof as most booking agents state, so beware of the noise on the sun terrace and downstairs in the reception.
The sun terrace on the roof was closed for the majority of our stay and only opened on the last 2 days of our stay.
Breakfast at the hotel is the same each day and quite frankly boring.
Also try and give the right amount of money when you order a drink/lunch/dinner as the staff have a habit of keeping the change.
The hotel is in a nice area and I recommend going to the restaurant right opposite called La Trattoria. It is amazing and the atmosphere and surroundings are beautiful, My friend and I were so shocked at how amazing it was.
Beware of men if you are 2 girls on your own, they will not leave you alone and you need to be stern with them.
The Medina is amazing, but be warned, if you take a photo of the snake charmers etc... They will demand money from you.
My friend and I went for a week, it is far too long, a long weekend would've been brilliant!
All in all in what okay!!!
