“Lovely place just outside Marrakech city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

Restful and romantic place in the countryside, only 15 minutes from Marrakech medina. The room was very comfortable, food excellent and the swimming pool and hammam simple wonderful. Best of all was our adventure across the Atlas mountains to the Sahara desert in Eric's reliable 4x4. We'll be coming back in the Autumn.

Our trip to Marrakech all began when we decided that me and 5 of my friends needed a few days to get away from it all with of course experiencing somewhere that is quite cultured and has a bit of a party lifestyle.

Marrakech is certainly the place, but if you really want to get away from it all - this villa is certainly the place for you.

The location from the airport and the main city centre is pretty close to the villa, but you will still need automotive transport to get from place to place.

This is where Monsieur Eric, who looks after and manages the Villa comes in.

Taxi’s are a pain in Marrakech – so we had Monsieur Eric drive us everywhere. This worked out more cost efficient and just so much easier to do. If you stay here, it makes sense to utilise Monsieur Eric for driving, excursions and of course providing local food and other local delicacies such as the Haman and local music entertainers.

More importantly, Monsieur Eric will organise everything you need, and has so much advice and knowledge.

One of the excursions that we went on was simply amazing, I instantly knew that the excursion was a tailor made solution. I knew I wasn’t part of any group tour from a coach. The routes and locations that Monsieur Eric took us on felt like we were the first people to ever explore them ! We really were of the beaten track and got to see some amazing things. The real Morocco !

Overall the villa is lovely, the pool is great, the rooms are nice and are always kept clean and cleaned everyday.

If you need to get away, with family, couples or a group of friends – this is the place.

The most refreshing item about this holiday was the service and this really made us feel lucky to stay at this lucky.

As Monsieur Eric says “As you would like”

Room Tip: Organise your taxi from the airport with the villa

The Owner and his crew of neighbours, missus and cook were fantastic and offered a service next to none, which made the Marrakech experience the best I ever had.

The location is 10km away from the main centre reference point, however, what it lacks in perfect location in terms of accessibility, it makes up for in terms of tranquility, comfort, and pleasantry, which greatly outweighs the location factor. The fact that the owner was available to pick us up at any time (24hrs in the day) and take us anywhere we wanted, including a trip to the mountains, providing the best Moroccan cuisine with drinks at a cost next to nothing made the whole experience very pleasant.

There is a pool, which for me was good and an outdoor open relaxation area with the inside of the villa resembling an outdoor spa resort due to the open plan ambience with decor not modern but given that non-contemporary flavour, with bamboo shoots and sticks and raffia utilised extensively, in the mist of outdoor plants and flowers that shoot in the sunlight, again given that outdoor nature feeling. The pool was complemented by a sauna, which is probably the hottest I have ever experience; again a quick 10 minute stint in the sauna before jumping into the pool allows you to revitalise after a day in the mountains, prior to dinner, before hitting the main spots of Marrakech at night.

If you are a non-contemporary person that craves ambience with hints of nature, whilst someone plays a local musical instrument (Musician invited courtesy of the owner), as you put your feet up and watch the sun set and the heat cooled to lower temperatures, in the company of 6 friends, with a fantastic host, then this is definitely the place for you.

The French owner will do his utmost best to make your stay in his B&B as comfortable as possible. He'll pick you up from the airport, he'll drive you into town, he'll organise trips to wherever you want to go. His chef de cuisine Aischa prepares traditional Marrocan meals and will cook whatever you request. Marrocan cookbooks are available. Aischa is present from early in the morning for breakfast till late in the afternoon by the time she has also prepared dinner. Though we just loved her cooking, we just could not get used to lunching and dining extremely late. Breakfast at a normal hour between 8 and 9, but then lunch after 3PM and dinner after 11PM, we couldn't stomach. Apparantly, this is the Marrocan way.

The swimming pool is not very large, but cleaned every day, and provides the necessary cooling when one is overheated by the blazing sun.
All rooms are furnished with airconditioning which tends to fail when too hot outside. We had the suite with a walk-in shower. All very basic, but comfortable and clean.

The city of Marrakech is about 8 kms from Dar Tougga. If the owner cannot take you, you'll have to walk 15min. through the village to the main road where the bus stops to go into town. Do not do this in the Summer without taking a bottle of water with you.

We stayed 2 full weeks; we had all inclusive (even drinks) and spent less than if we would have stayed at home. So, good value for your money if your are not too picky about luxury.
