“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

We stayed at the Riad Argan for a week in early January. Francoise and the staff make you feel like you are a guest of the family rather than a paying customer at a hotel. The location is excellent and the Riad itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend it.

“Wonderful in all aspects!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

In short, Riad Argan is fabulous. We booked two rooms with very little notice and yet Francoise and Bernard immediately arranged to have us met by a reliable taxi driver at the train station who escorted us to the riad. You cannot have a better location in the medina than Riad Argan. Its interior is gorgeous. Francoise and Bernard welcomed us with tea and cookies and made us feel instantly at home, it was a cold day but warm and inviting inside. We were there in winter but the rooms and bathrooms had great heating systems. Our hosts helped us plan our whirlwind visit to Marrakech with advice on what to do when in order to be able to see and do the most interesting things possible in the time available (certain souks, an excellent exhibit at the Photography museum and the cafe atop it, palaces, the plaza). But Francoise and Bernard went above and beyond the call of duty to rush us to the train station in time to catch our train, when we ran late because the watch we had had run slow. They tolerated our calls from the plaza with questions with great patience, too. Delightful and I cannot wait to go back!

“No Better Place in Marrakesh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

The Riad Argan is the perfect place to stay in Marrakesh. Based on all the rave reviews here we expected a great place to stay and this Riad exceeded all of our expectations. Francois and Bernaud provide us with a warm and cozy home with all the amenities. Their staff of three sisters treateded us like a part of the family.
My sister and I went for my 50th birthday celebration, and from the moment we made the reservations Francois was friendly and thought of everything we needed to make this a special weekend. Francois recomendations for what to do were always on point. When we were thinking about where to buy leather Bernaud even took my sister on his motorbike to show her where the store was. Bernaud and Francois gave us an orientation to town and also made sure that we understood how to bargain what to expect for prices.
The staff was superb,, they treated us with immense kindness and introduced us to the berber culture. Kadija and her sisters ensured that the ambience developed by Francois is carried through every moment of your stay.
The Riad is very close to the Plaza and all the main tourist sites. It is decorated beautifully, and gives you a true Marrakesh feel. Thesmall size makes for an intimate and homey atmosphere. The rooftop patio has a view of the Atlas mountains and is spectacular place to start your morning.
Thank you Francois Bernaud and Kadija for a wonderful stay. .

“A great choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

I second all the great things that have been said about Riad Argan. Thanks Francoise and Bernard for making our stay in Marrakech so wonderful. Truly attentive and friendly staff in a clean and homey setting. We loved the rooftop and the warm sun during the day. It is close to everything, and Francoise's orientation is perfect. Breakfast was delicious and tailored for us (strong coffee with hot milk), and they even arranged lunch for us on the rooftop one day when we didn't feel like going out.

Room Tip: Only 5 rooms and all seemed fine. We were on the ground floor and it was private and quiet.

“All Good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

The Riad Argan deserves the superlatives heaped upon it by others: great location, safe, clean, and a warm, friendly and helpful staff. My wife and I loved everything about it. You will not likely regret Francoise's advice on things to see and do –all were worthwhile and all within a reasonable walk even for this elderly guy. Refreshments on the rooftop were welcome and oh yes, and do consider dinner at the Argan.
What made our stay at the Argan all the more worthwhile was the not entirely anticipated adventure of staying in the medina. One surprise, for example, was that what appears on a map as a road leading from the Argan to Jemaa El-Fna is in reality a cobblestone walkway, varying from perhaps 8 to 12 feet wide. Pedestrian traffic mixes with bicycles and motorbikes --which sometimes move with lightning speed. With all sorts of things for sale spilling out of the innumerable shops along the way, the walkway may narrow to no more than 5-6 feet. Pedestrians sort of watch out for the wheeled vehicles and drivers sort of watch out for pedestrians; same thing for the souks and the Fna. If there are rules for pedestrian and all other traffic, they seem to be at best informal. It’s crazy, but somehow it works. Go, enjoy the Argan where Francois will get you oriented to the medina, and you’ll have an experience you won’t forget.
