“Moroccan experience in a perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013 via mobile

Delightful moroccan Inn down a secondary alley (read quiet) situated a few minutes walk from the huge marketplaces and the main old town square which is alive with shops, food vendors and even snake charmers.
The personal attention from all the staff was excellent and we never had trouble with their English. Everything from freshly cooked breakfast (with divine freshly squeezed prange juice) to giving directions, booking tours and even arranging laundry
was handled efficiently.
We would recommend using the porter service on the way in and out as the Riad is difficult to find the first time.
We found the optional dining in at the Riad to be one of the best meals we had on our holiday: excellent Moroccan eating

The Riad Itrane in an ideal location two minutes walk from the main square – Jamma El Fna - in Marrakech. Close enough to the vibrant and noisy souks and crazy night time food stalls but as soon as you turn into the quiet lane leading to the Riad you are transformed to an oasis of calm serenity.

Although initially unsure if it was necessary we were glad we booked the transfer from the airport on arrival – it’s a nice start to the trip not having to worry about cost of taxis and getting to the Riad which would be very difficult to find for any new arrival especially as cars are not allowed in the square in the afternoon so a man with a cart was on hand to transport our bags across the square). The driver was very polite and met us in the airport.

The Riad has been restored with precision and care with a rustic charm in keeping with the original décor. We spent several hours each day lounging about the various patios with birdsong in the background. The facilities are faultless with an indoor plunge pool and three fantastic roof terraces from which to watch the sun set and stunning views of the Atlas mountains.

We stayed in the Galaxy Room which was kept spotless throughout our week long stay. A safe and wi fi was available in the room. Breakfasts were continental and excellent in particular the omelettes and Karima’s home made marble cake were a real favourite!

An excursion to the Ourika Valley was arranged with one phone call and which is highly recommended if Jallal is available to be your guide. He was a well spoken and knowledgeable guide who drove us around the valleys for several hours giving us a real insight in to the traditional Berber life.

Ultimately what makes the Itrane unique and truly special is the service provided by the owners and their team of staff. We were lucky enough to stay while the delightful Charlotte and Patrice were in residence. They were the most warm, thoughtful, funny and welcoming hosts ready to attend to our every need and answer random questions about where to buy saffron (cheap) and get a haircut!! Not surprising then that their entire staff had a similar approach. They deserve a special mention because of the excellent service they provided which made us feel so well looked after - Fatima, Karima, Hanan and Khadijah (always smiling and laughing) the gentle and attentive Hamid and of course Abdou the fantastic manager who was able to answer all our questions in English despite what other people have said here. After a week at the Riad we felt like we were in a home away from home and were truly sad to leave them all behind!

We would very rarely return to the same holiday destination more than once let alone stay in the same hotel but we will definitely be returning to Marrakech to stay at the Riad Itrane again.

If you want to experience the true spirit of Marrakech in a wonderful setting with excellent hospitality and service don’t delay and book the Riad Itrane now!!

We have just returned from Marrakech and our 4 day stay at Riad Itrane. Charlotte & Patrice, the very hospitable owners are great hosts and took the time to ensure that we were very happy with our stay.
With help from them and their manager, we had our taxis arranged from and to the airport, and a relaxing hammam and massage at a local spa, as well as a wonderful recommendation for a restaurant to celebrate a special birthday. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
The riad itself is lovely. It is well furnished and Charlotte took the time to show us photos of its creation over a number of years - a labour of love. Our room was comfortable and a peaceful retreat from the amazing sights and sounds of Marrakech. There was air conditioning (though not needed for our stay in February), TV, safe box and wi-fi available in our room.
The breakfast provided made a welcome start to the day, was varied and plentiful. We also enjoyed a great meal at the riad too.
The location is ideal if you want to be right in the centre of the city within a few minutes walk of the square and souks. We would definitely stay at Riad Itrane again in the future.

The riad is place of complete calm and comfort amid the noise and chaos of the inner city. The interior is beautifully done, the service is impeccable and the experience is wonderful. A special mention for Hamid and Abdou and ofcourse the lovely owners Patrice and Charlotte. They cater to a guest's every desire and are happy to ensure that you have a great holiday. The hot water only runs for 5-10 minutes but that is fairly standard across the best riads given how old the buildings are. Our room (the galaxy) had a slight smell of dampness but we mentioned this to the owners and they took very serious notice. All in all an excellent place to stay in Marrakech. The breakfast is worth mentioning. Everyday we were treated to a local delight from the kitchen apart from the usual spread which was also great. They also arranged an amazing day trip for us to Ourika Valley and Asnis. We were driven by their driver Jalaledine who is a fine gentleman and an excellent guide, highly recommended.

Clean, attractive and in a very central location; we enjoyed our stay with a few reservations. Our standard room was smaller and a little more rustic than we'd expected for the price, but well-decorated, with a good bed. Hot water was sporadic, and despite various attempts to fix it, the TV didn’t work at all during our week-long stay. The breakfasts, though, were a stand-out: lots to eat and we loved the eggy-bread! The sun terraces were a good place to get away from the hubub of the medina and enjoy the location. The staff were kind and friendly but apart from the manager didn't speak great French or English, which meant we struggled to communicate requests and questions about what can be quite a hectic place. We'd really stress they were extremely welcoming, we'd just have liked the opportunity to share more in their local knowledge.

Having taken a recommendation from The Flight Centre, I'm just back from a week's stay at the Riad Itrane, where a warm welcome from Hamid and Abdou established the friendly atmosphere of this delightful, beautifully appointed retreat in the heart of the Medina. My suite was exceptionally comfortable with an efficient air conditioning/ heating system, TV and wi-fi access, and I was aware of how much effort must have been made to furnish it and the rest of the building in such a high quality traditional fashion.
Throughout my stay the staff were solicitous and eager to help with directions, hints and, indeed, top up cups of coffee at breakfast.
I look forward to a return visit in 2014.
