“Hanging in Marrakech”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2012

I just wanted to express my gratitude for all the staff at the Riad Massin. i just wish I could have spent more time there. The location is cool and the staff are excellent. It was a great experience overall.

A special thanks to brendan, who was great and assisted me long after I left Morocco. Its a long story that turned out well. If i return to Marrakech, i will definitely stop by the Riad Massin.

Happy new Year to all.

Room Tip: chose if you can upstairs, a little more quiet..

“A great hostel in walking distance to the Center of the medina”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2011

When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly English girl who told us about Marrakesh and offered us a map and easy directions to the medina. We were given mint tea to drink while they prepared our rooms.

The rooms were small but pleasant and though the air conditioning was not strong, it was enough for the heat of Marrakesh.
They helped us whenever we need assistance and the staff were very friendly and hospitable. The Riad was well kept and clean.

The showers are pretty basic but no complaints.

I would recommend this Riad to others.

“The annex is better next door”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2011

The annex is better next door. The staff is friendly and the tea they brought us when we arrived was a nice touch. The rooms are clean enough in the main hostel but our air conditioner didn't work(which is unbearable) right and the bathroom that we were to use had a stopped up drain that was horrible not to mention only running cold water.

And it's very noisy if people are talking during bedtime. The voices carry from the common area. ARGH!!!!

Again, the staff was really nice though. We went on a one night/2 day desert trip and they kept our stuff for us (Free of charge) and when we got back they moved us over to the "annex" (same owner) which was AWESOME. It's really affordable to stay here so I would recommend it BUT request a room in the annex.

“Hmmmmmm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2011

This is a hostel so expect some noise at night, not that it stopped me from sleeping thankfully! The breakfast was really really cheap and very nice. There was only a small locker to put valuables into and they are a bit rickety so my advice would be don't take anything you would be devastated to get pinched, not that I had any worries about the other people in the room with me, but you never can tell when staying somewhere like this. The Moroccan guys that worked in the hostel where great, very helpful.... However the English girl that greeted us upon arrival was frankly bizarre! She was very very hard to talk to, in fact at times she completely ignored direct questions asked of her... She was very very strange indeed. Also if your a fan of your privacy this is not the place for you, there was no lock at all on the bathroom door and ineffectual locks on the bedroom doors, only one of the two windows had a curtain. Great location though, much easier to find compared with other riads we stayed in.

“I could not ask for more”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2010

I really could not have asked for whilst staying in this riad. I have travelled extensively across the world and various types of accomodation but I believe that it is one of the best. The staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, very knowledgeable, nothing is too much trouble for them as they are a wonderful bunch of people. Whilst staying there, I got to know the entire group of staff by name. The staff arranged trips to the mountains and deserts, to the hammans and even cooked us a tagine. The staff encourages everyone to get to know each other and led by example. You cannot be horrible to the other guests, when all the staff are so friendly, talkative and easygoing. There was a great mix of age groups with everyone getting on with each other, having a geat time in the evenings chatting. The accomodation is extremely clean and very well presented. Bathrooms had hot water, were cleaned regularly with towels provided and extra on request. I loved the place so much that I booked extra nights and rearranged my plans to stay there. Even when the riad was fully booked one night, my friend and I pleaded to sleep on the roof terrace as we knew we wouldn't find a better place to stay. The roof terrace was brilliant and coined the 'penthouse' by the rest of the guests. The terrace was better than some rooms, I stayed in at other hotels so you can imagine that the rooms were even better. The riad was a very welcomed surprise as I usually don't care about accomodation as I feel that when I travel I am there to visit the country. I usually think that the accommodation is just a place to sleep but I really loved this place and I will keep in touch with the staff and visit again. Definitely, a home away from home. Stay there, you won't regret it.
