“Good option for families within walking distance of the Medina”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014 via mobile

Spacious, modern, clean family rooms. Good breakfast in pleasant lobby. 15 minute walk into the centre of Marrakech. Parking the usual Moroccan lottery with the on-street 'guards' - pay them generously and all will be well.

Not rolling in cash? Want somewhere cheap, clean, well run and perfectly located? Then the Novotel is perfect for you. Two (or even three) can share a £50 a night room with mini kitchen, bath, TV, phone, air conditioning and, best of all, great broadband (it used to be weak on the signal front). Very helpful Security (baggage). A short walk to the Mai Thai or Es Saadi or Sofitel. Taxis and horse drawn carriages on the doorstep. Five minutes stroll brings you to the Mamounia and ten to Djema El Fna. Pool is a bit small; that's the only negative.

Room Tip: Almost perfect for what it is.

We stayed almost a full week at the Suite Novotel in Marrakech as a vacation. It is ideally situated withing walking distance from both the traditional, and modern areas of Marrakech. If walking isn't your thing you are right on the tour bus line, and there are always several caps outside the hotel.

I gotta put this in there for all the runners out there that want to come to Marrakech but don't want to interrupt your training. You are also perfectly located for as long a run as you can imagine, the city is very runner-friendly. But if desert running isn't your thing the Novotel has a fitness center equipped with a treadmill.

Breakfast is standard and plentiful. A little local flair to it, but you can still get a good bowl of corn flakes and hot coffee.

The only critique I have to make is that the rooms are never cold enough. The air conditioners just don't do it for me, and I usually like to sleep warmer than most. This is why I have only indicated an "average" score for sleep quality. Since we weren't in our hotel much it wasn't that big of a deal, but they really need to get better AC for such a hot place as Marrakesh.

Nice and a lot space in the room, the stuff has a difficult to speak out in English , but worked it . The breakfast for a 4 stars could be better , nice pool , internet was free and we get a good price in the accor site . Just a little bit far from the city and stuffs .

As a bit of background - this happened on the actual day of my husband's 30th birthday .....A week or so prior to our holiday in Marrakech, I emailed the hotel asking about their transfers to and from the airport. After about 3 days, I got a response saying that transfers could be arranged and the price would be between 100 - 150 MAD. I responded to the email, confirming our flight details, flight number etc and that we would like to book a transfer. I received NO response. I emailed again two days prior to arriving to confirm and received a response saying it was booked in. We arrived in to Marrakech and there was no transfer to be found. We asked around but there was no one. We then had to use our mobile phone to call the hotel to ask where the transfer was (this will cost us a fortune!)... The lady who answered the phone said that she needed to know who the email came from so she can check. As we didn't have Wifi, we couldn't give her this and without it she said there was nothing she could do. We offered to give our surname of the booking, but she wasn't interested. I was then able to log in offline to my emails and locate the name of the person who emailed. We then rang a second time, again from our mobile to give the name... turns out it was the lady we had been speaking with. She said the car was there, but we weren't to be found. So, she said she would send another car and it would be 20 minutes. We arranged a transfer for 10.05 and we got picked up at around 11am - not a good start. It was not a Novotel car - it was a taxi.

When we got there, the taxi wanted to charge us 250 MAD for the trip. We said the hotel told us it was between 100 - 150 MAD and we argued for a bit, the driver called the hotel and he then agreed with 150. We complained to the reception staff (the lady who we spoke to on the phone) and she said we could complain to the Manager if we wanted to. We ended up getting a transfer back to the airport free of charge as a result of this (not with a taxi, but with a driver)

The foyer of the hotel was noisy and crowded. When we got to the room, I was surprised to find there was no body lotion or soap bar - instead just the soap liquid in the dispensers. I know it is a fairly 'cheap' hotel, but I expected a little more. The bed didn't look made properly, not to a hotel standard anyway. We had a pool view room, but there is no balcony so that perk is kind of pointless. As Silver Accor members, we are entitled to a free drink at the bar. We went to the bar, which had a TV, playing VERY loud with a soccer match - I felt like I was in someone's living room to be honest. We asked the lady behind the bar for the free drink. She didn't understand, nor did she understand when we said Accor club member. She had to ring reception and ask them. She then asked to see our Accor card, which we don't always carry with us because we have the Accor app on our phone which has the card details. She then said we aren't allowed to have our drink because she needs to photocopy our card. Again, after we complained to reception, she said we could have our drink. We asked for 1 beer. We were told no alcohol. I find that strange since at the Ibis, we were allowed to have a scotch. So, instead we had to just get sparling water.

Breakfast was very basic but there isn't much around the hotel so not much choice there...

I would never stay at this hotel again. If you can splurge a little, rather stay at the Sofitel across the road - I give them 5 stars and would give them more if I could!

Please don't waste your money on this hotel. no internet, no movies on tv as advertised. Customer service is horrid. Rude reception at night shift told us to go away, very basic breakfast only capable of catering for about thirty people. They are very short on staff we counted together 6 staff in the whole hotel.

Positives (not many)
Good sized rooms but cramped toilet.
House keeping services were good but only come in afternoon.
Great location near all main tourist attractions.
