Like you, I was mesmerized by the beautiful pictures and the lush rooms with the much yearned and anticipated exotic touch. My intentions here are simply to give you a heads up, how you use the information is up to you.
I arrived at 6 am complete with a reservation voucher and confirmation, only to find myself looking around for a door that was open. Many people wrote its hard to see or there are no signs, well, that is not true, but what is true, is that the hotel just decided to lock their door. No one was picking up at the reception. After a frustrating 30min of banging at a Moroccan steel door, I decided to make take a cab to a cafe and just wait it out. That brings us to the next part. You realize that you are actually no where near the center of the city. There are no taxis driving by (only on weekends due to the pacha club) So I called a taxi and even though I speak french this guy is asking for 100dh for a maximum 20dh ride ( and they are all like that unless you are Moroccan ) so imagine for a week you will be spending more then a thousand just for taxis! They won't take you for less, bargain as much as you want, they just won't. The city itself lives on tourism and just messing you over with prices. After about two hours I came back and immediately asked to speak to the manager. The staff as friendly as they are, are just incompetent of dealing with problems. " Ok no problem" is what you will get most of the times. They don't argue, they don't take anything serious and two tickets for a free brunch is all they offered, the manager is non existent, I feel as if they have no ranks (fine, different country different way of life, can't complain over that)
On the way to the room the guy tells me that they upgraded me to a junior suite when it clearly says on my voucher and any website that all rooms are suites except the other executive suites. The room has wifi which seems to get signal and then not but all in all is very acceptable room with a beautiful personal terrace upstairs. Oh yea, did I mention you cannot see anything?! the new concept is dim lighting and they sure made use of that, just sad really.
The pool is not particularly big but considering its a quad like area where its situated, you have to rotate with the sun if you don't want to be in the shadow, and multiple rotations you must undertake. Another sad fact unfortunately...
Concluding, you are far away, the service is beyond terrible, the club has seen its best days, so considering hotels like the Delano or Sofitel (or any one near those hotels) is on the better judgmental side since you are paying around the same due to simply the transportation issue. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
