“Quiet Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2012

Temperature was good this time of year, mild english summer. The riad is just inside the medina so everything is walkable to, approx 20-30 min, depending on pace! It is located down a dusty track, approached thro a small local market, (if you want European, go outside the medina!)
The riad is small, 5/6 rooms on a first floor balcony. Tasteful, good quality modern conversion with good sympathetic local ethnic feel. The inner balcony faces onto a courtyard with water, refreshingly cool. The courtyard is covered with retractable canvas roof. Excellent roof terrace for sunbathing/relaxing.
You can order evening meal for the evening in the courtyard, with a days notice. It is medium priced but better than most of the meals you will eat out!
The day to day manager is Jaovad who also cooks the excellent meals. Unfailingly helpful staff, who went out of their way to make us feel at home.

Room Tip: All the rooms open out to a central covered enclosed courtyard, so all OK. Like most places you get...

“A Marrakech oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

We chose this Riad from the British Airways list and despite a delayed flight arrival and the resultant confusion of the airport pickup we were delivered to the location and met at the street and then escorted a short walk to the Riad (As other reviewers have said - Finding any Riad can be difficult, so being met and guided in was brilliant)
On arrival we were warmly greeted by Jo, given mint tea ( we are now hooked on mint tea!) and everything about our stay including places to visit and the best routes into the landmarks etc was explained - A great start
During our 5 days, nothing was to much trouble and for Jo or the girls including organised an excursion for us which was excellent. We ate in one evening which was both great value and excellent food and each morning the breakfast was different and there was always enough food for a good start to the day - The omelettes are the best!
This Riad is an oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and coming in through the heavy front door after a hectic day was wonderful and to be so quiet as soon as the door is shut was amazing, as was the rooftop area where we sat out in the evening watching the stars.

We recommend this Riad without hesitation!

“Most relaxing Riad!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

I can honestly can not recommend this Riad enough it was the most beautiful and relaxing accomodation I have ever stayed in.

When we arrived we were a bit harassed as the lane leading up to the Riad is quite a culture shock when first arriving in Marrakesh but we were then welcomed into Riad Zayne which is like a little peace of heaven in the noisy, bustling city. Joad who I gave the best customer service as did the ladies that work at the Riad that I have ever expereinced. Welcoming us with Morrocan mint tea and even prepared us a three course dinner at about 10pm at night in the riad, when we arrived.

The food at the riad was the best we tasted in Marrakesh, succlent tagines and lovely sweets and the rose wine was really good. The breakfasts were different each day and a lot of effort was put into them.

The rooms are decorated and themed, we were in the African room which was very nice. The roof terrace was nice to go up and sit and realx on one of their sun bed. There is also a plunge pool but we never got round to using it.

The Riad is very relaxing and I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: All rooms look lovely and have an individual theme, we stayed in the African room which was very nic...

“An excellent Riad at which to base yourself to explore this fascinating old city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012

Stylishly decorated, charming and helpful staff, good food, centrally located inside city walls, close enough to the main square to walk there easily, but also in a 'real' neighbourhood away from the main tourist area.

“Lovely Riad, great staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 nights between the 9th and 14th of Jan 2012. We arranged transfers on the morning of our trip by calling the Riad direct from the UK after panicking about finding it as we were arriving late in the evening. We had planned to get a coach / bus from the airport, but opted for the safe bet of having someone meet us. They were very accommodating despite the short notice, and as arranged a taxi driver met us at arrivals at the airport. We were very glad that we had done this because as it has been mentioned in previous posts, the Riad is just off a busy medina strip, and we probably would never have found it, but thankfully the taxi driver, a regular driver for the Riad, parked on the main road near the medina walls, and took us directly to the Riad. It is very unassuming and you would definitely miss it if you didn’t know what to look out for, so I would advise a hotel arranged transfer for the arrival at least. Turns out, however, that the coach station is literally a 5-10 minute walk across a busy road and then through the gap to the other side of the medina walls if you are braver than us!
We were pleased to see that the reviews about it being a stunning Riad were correct, and the friendly host served us complementary mint tea while we filled in the paperwork. Our room was beautifully decorated, with fresh rose petals strewn across the table and placed around the gold sink in the bathroom. The bedroom is spacious but was slightly disappointed that they didn’t have a tv ( I quite enjoy finding out what foreign tv’s like after a busy day of sightseeing) however I feel that this was probably for the best as it would have spoiled the décor. It came equipped with a spacious wardrobe which also contained a safe, and also had a air-con / heater system The bathroom was spacious and had a sort of wet-room style shower the water was powerful and warm enough for a good shower.
The breakfast was healthy and adequate, mainly comprised of fruit salads, yoghurt with a choice of compote / honey, croissants, fresh juice mint tea and a ‘main’ which varied daily (boiled egg / pancake etc).
The staff were very accommodating to our needs, and were genuinely helpful when ever we asked for advice or recommendations. As we were there for 5 nights, we decided to go on a day excursion and the Riad owner arranged a taxi to collect us, wait at the destination, and bring us back when we were ready at a very reasonable price. He also arranged for us to go Quad biking with a company he recommended which was a great day and none of this felt like a burden to him.
The only criticism I have is that it did feel a bit awkward to have a beer on the roof terrace in the evening after a long day. If we were any later than about 11pm all the lights would be turned off and all the furniture put away apart from the deck chairs, and as we were on holiday it would have been nice to have a few night caps, perhaps cocktails on the room terrace. I think though, that the staff thought we were a bit crazy as they mentioned a few times that it must be far too cold to sit on the roof terrace in the evening but we were welcome to go up it we wished – it did get a bit chilly in the evening but nothing compared to the weather we had just left behind in the UK!
I also feel I should warn you that the initial arrival to the area where the Riad is was a bit of a cukture shock to us to begin with as it is just off a busy local market street which can prove to be a bit smelly, and you instantly feel like an outsider curious looks aimed in your direction. But after a day of adjusting to the Moroccan way of life we genuinely enjoyed out stay at this hotel, and Marrakech – very different, but would definitely recommend it.
