“Most relaxing Riad!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

I can honestly can not recommend this Riad enough it was the most beautiful and relaxing accomodation I have ever stayed in.

When we arrived we were a bit harassed as the lane leading up to the Riad is quite a culture shock when first arriving in Marrakesh but we were then welcomed into Riad Zayne which is like a little peace of heaven in the noisy, bustling city. Joad who I gave the best customer service as did the ladies that work at the Riad that I have ever expereinced. Welcoming us with Morrocan mint tea and even prepared us a three course dinner at about 10pm at night in the riad, when we arrived.

The food at the riad was the best we tasted in Marrakesh, succlent tagines and lovely sweets and the rose wine was really good. The breakfasts were different each day and a lot of effort was put into them.

The rooms are decorated and themed, we were in the African room which was very nice. The roof terrace was nice to go up and sit and realx on one of their sun bed. There is also a plunge pool but we never got round to using it.

The Riad is very relaxing and I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: All rooms look lovely and have an individual theme, we stayed in the African room which was very nic...

Stylishly decorated, charming and helpful staff, good food, centrally located inside city walls, close enough to the main square to walk there easily, but also in a 'real' neighbourhood away from the main tourist area.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

My boyfriend and I stayed for 5 nights between the 9th and 14th of Jan 2012. We arranged transfers on the morning of our trip by calling the Riad direct from the UK after panicking about finding it as we were arriving late in the evening. We had planned to get a coach / bus from the airport, but opted for the safe bet of having someone meet us. They were very accommodating despite the short notice, and as arranged a taxi driver met us at arrivals at the airport. We were very glad that we had done this because as it has been mentioned in previous posts, the Riad is just off a busy medina strip, and we probably would never have found it, but thankfully the taxi driver, a regular driver for the Riad, parked on the main road near the medina walls, and took us directly to the Riad. It is very unassuming and you would definitely miss it if you didn’t know what to look out for, so I would advise a hotel arranged transfer for the arrival at least. Turns out, however, that the coach station is literally a 5-10 minute walk across a busy road and then through the gap to the other side of the medina walls if you are braver than us!
We were pleased to see that the reviews about it being a stunning Riad were correct, and the friendly host served us complementary mint tea while we filled in the paperwork. Our room was beautifully decorated, with fresh rose petals strewn across the table and placed around the gold sink in the bathroom. The bedroom is spacious but was slightly disappointed that they didn’t have a tv ( I quite enjoy finding out what foreign tv’s like after a busy day of sightseeing) however I feel that this was probably for the best as it would have spoiled the décor. It came equipped with a spacious wardrobe which also contained a safe, and also had a air-con / heater system The bathroom was spacious and had a sort of wet-room style shower the water was powerful and warm enough for a good shower.
The breakfast was healthy and adequate, mainly comprised of fruit salads, yoghurt with a choice of compote / honey, croissants, fresh juice mint tea and a ‘main’ which varied daily (boiled egg / pancake etc).
The staff were very accommodating to our needs, and were genuinely helpful when ever we asked for advice or recommendations. As we were there for 5 nights, we decided to go on a day excursion and the Riad owner arranged a taxi to collect us, wait at the destination, and bring us back when we were ready at a very reasonable price. He also arranged for us to go Quad biking with a company he recommended which was a great day and none of this felt like a burden to him.
The only criticism I have is that it did feel a bit awkward to have a beer on the roof terrace in the evening after a long day. If we were any later than about 11pm all the lights would be turned off and all the furniture put away apart from the deck chairs, and as we were on holiday it would have been nice to have a few night caps, perhaps cocktails on the room terrace. I think though, that the staff thought we were a bit crazy as they mentioned a few times that it must be far too cold to sit on the roof terrace in the evening but we were welcome to go up it we wished – it did get a bit chilly in the evening but nothing compared to the weather we had just left behind in the UK!
I also feel I should warn you that the initial arrival to the area where the Riad is was a bit of a cukture shock to us to begin with as it is just off a busy local market street which can prove to be a bit smelly, and you instantly feel like an outsider curious looks aimed in your direction. But after a day of adjusting to the Moroccan way of life we genuinely enjoyed out stay at this hotel, and Marrakech – very different, but would definitely recommend it.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. It is truly an oasis in Marrakech. Again we booked this accommodation because of the reviews and were definitely NOT disappointed.
We managed to find it quite easily with a map.
The people were very personable and made you feel welcome on first meeting. They were also very helpful with information and advice.
The room was lovely. I feel the cold easily and because riad's are made for very hot weather I was concerned I may be a bit cold... but not at all. I didn't feel uncomfortable with the temperature at night or early in the morning.
The bed was VERY comfortable and slept very well each night.
Breakfast was lovely, a treat every morning.
We would definitely stay at Riad Zayane again if we went back to Marrakech. Good value for money.

My boyfriend and I are just back from 4 nights at the Riad Zayane. We booked it after reading all of the good reviews on here. It was lovely and lived up to all of our expectations. Gorgeous central courtyard, handy location, nice bedroom, good breakfast, very helpful staff etc etc.

We ate dinner at the riad twice (they set it up for you in this ridiculously romantic central courtyard by candlelight, with rose petals strewn around) and it was the best food we had in Morocco - we'd especially recommend asking for the Tajine Marrakchi, which was delicious. We booked through Easyjet holidays - they were great and provided us with reliable transfers door to door, which were exactly what we needed.

My only negatives were that the street outside the riad is pretty grotty (but so is the whole city, so not much you can do about that), and I didn't take any warm clothes and was cold the whole trip. The riad isn't centrally heated. Take a jacket and warm PJs if you go in winter - I know it's Africa, but it still gets cold!

If we went back to Marrakech, I'd definitely stay here again; I really liked it.

Room Tip: We stayed in th African room on the first floor, which was very nice.

Had a three night break at the Riad, outside what a contrast Marrakech at its most raw, feral children, sellers. Arrived mid evening and took a taxi from the airport, tried to haggle the price but definitely got took but the drive was very friendly full of information then when we arrived at the back streets where the riad was he and his son got out of the taxi and escorted us to the riad (so glad, total cultral shock). The Riad door opened to a very welcoming porter, tranquillity and beauty surrounded us, cool calm and so pleasant on the eye.
Although on a very inexpensive package we were treated like first class guest the whole time we were in the Riad. Absolutely adored marrakech, never seen so many people out in the square enjoying themselves. Definitely going back and to this riad as well.

Zayane... if your reading this your half way to a decent trip...
I booked a long weekend (4 nights) 6th - 10th of October for my wifes 39th plus 1 birthday..
after reading previous reviews i went for the Zayane... I never write reviews but in this case felt i had to..

Best to start with the staff... They were all really helpful.. being a small Riad with 5 rooms (5 couples - 10 people at the most) you got to know the staff really well (4 in all), they were really helpful and I know you shouldn't say it but especially Joad (hope that's spelt right) the evening - night guy...
He made a couple of calls for us, including confirming the taxi back... answered any questions about restaurants etc.. that we had...
The staff really did have time for us nothing seemed to much...

The Riad it's self.. (we stayed 4 nights - Thurs- Sunday night)
well it was exactly like any pictures you find on line..
they say it all.. spotlessly clean... no worries about this at all...

Apart from the breakfast.. We only ate in one night, the Beef Tajine was amazing, it was one of the best meals we had during our stay.. Beef with Prunes and sesame seeds...
it was really good... it was a lot better than the Lamb Tajine at Dar Moha.. (see best restaurants in Marrakech web site)
I'm not a breakfast person but each morning we got fresh orange juice.. a small bowl of yogurt... and a bowl of fruit or orange jelly stuff!!! all very nice...
and then cooked bread things (sorry not sure how to explain them)
but the pancakes were my favourite with honey and a bit of butter on them...
what I will add is apart from the mint tea.. a cup of English in the mornings was fine .. milk tasted alright if you know what I mean...

Zayane... I really would highly recommend it..
after speaking to the wife today.. we are going to see when we can fit another weekend in... and we will probably be going back to the Zayane...
in fact thats gonna be her xmas pressie... :o)

If your thinking of booking... do it Marrakech is amazing.. we don't know why we never went sooner!!!!!

Top Tips:
Just walk and enjoy it.. my mobile came in handy with Google maps.. as we ended up getting lost in the Souks when we were shopping!!!!
make sure you put the Riad in before you set off!!!!

but its all fun...

and a must see is the Jardin Majorelle...
http://www.jardinmajorelle.com/en/index.php?page=home

but you know what.. its all really good.. one other thing.. read your guide books not all the restaurants serve beer and wine...
Casablanca beer is really good..
and the rose wine was good as well... both Moroccan

enjoy... :o)
