From the moment we had arrived staff were helpful and attentive to all our needs. 4 girls travelling to Marrakech we hadn't quite prepared our self for the hassle we would be getting off the men.
The riad itself is difficult to find and without the help of locals we would never have found it. It is hidden away down alleyways in the medina. We got our self into some bother with our helpful locals who had directed us towards the riad expecting a tip of 200 dirhams between the pair. Mohammed, who we usually saw in the evenings through to breakfast jumped in when things were getting heated to deal with the bother we had got ourselves into, we cannot thank him enough for that.
The riad itself is very authentic and good not have been in a better location. We were in the middle of the souks and a 5 minute walk away from the famous square De Jemma el Fna. Around the corner from the riad is a very luxurious hammam we had discovered a few days later. It was a little on the pricey side but Amed who worked in the Riad also directed us towards a local hammam for women also a short distance from the riad. Amed also helped us to arrange various tours during our stay and transfers as we hadn’t booked any in advance.
Suminah made sure we were well equipped with towels, toilet tissue and a clean bed every day. She was very attentive, four young girls we did create some mess but she was very patient.
Breakfast was ready every morning with tea, coffee, fresh orange and fresh bread. Breakfast is served between 8-11 but the days when we had to be out of the riad for our tours for 8, Amed or Mohammed had arranged for our breakfast to be ready earlier.
Our stay in Marrakech was enjoyed but more so because the staff at Dar Ihsanne are so friendly and trust worthy. We were giving the privacy to enjoy the riad as if it was our own home. No matter how late we stayed out until Mohammed would wait up until we arrived back at the riad to lock the door. The day we were due to leave our flight was not until later on in the evening, although checkout is at 11 Amed had allowed us to have the room a little longer and also watched our suitcases whilst we went for our last visit around the souks and medina.
I would highly recommend this riad for anyone thinking of visiting Marrakech, not only are the staff great but the location is perfect. The whole visit we did not require taxis as everything we needed to see in the city was walking distance. The only mode of transport we eventually used was a friendly old man offering us a ride around the city on horse and carriage at a discounted price after bumping into him twice.
I would like to thank the staff at Dar Ihsanne for all their efforts during our stay. We all look forward to returning to Morocco and we will definitely be staying here again.
We stayed in a famiy room which had two rooms, one with a double bed, the bathroom and a small loung...
