“Beautiful riad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

The riad was beautiful, the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. This riad was a perfect juxtaposition to the hustle and bustle of the streets of Marakesh, it was oasis like. The rooms were sized well, the bed was comfortable, and the rooms were clean. My travel companion stated that her toilet was not clean upon arrival, but I had no concerns. The breakfast was served on any of three balconies and included cake, breads, yogurt, coffee/tea and juice. The staff went above and beyond our needs and expectations, for example finding a bottle of wine for us after we came home one evening and letting us leave our luggage for about 9 hours after we checked out for free.

Upon arrival we were welcomed by the staff and they took us via the small streets to the Riad. After a welcome chat we felt comfortable and relax since it is just outside the busy street next door. Enough restaurant options in the neighborhood. We did not have any dinner there but the breakfast is excellent. The room was nice, quite big and it had a real comfortable bed. Only downside was that the shower hangup system broke down. Youssef, one of the staff members found to be very funny and willing to give me thrill by a ride together with him on his motorcycle and experience the traffic and chaos of Marrakech, very nice!

We would stay here again if returning to Marrakech.

From the moment you arrive at the Coq Fu you are made to feel welcome by the staffwhon bend over backwards to make your stay as good as it possibly can be .Yussef the Riad manager speaks good English and there is not much he doesn't know about Marrakech,so a good local source to add to your guide book.Basheer the overall manager of both the Coq Fu and its next door neighbour is also extremely helpful and will arrange outside excursions ,if you want them. The breakfasts are continental/Morrocan,lots of it and if the weather s'fine eating it on the roof is a wonderful way of forgetting you have to eventually return to the rat race.
The pick up from the airport worked well and is essential. There is always hot water and the rooms are clean and well serviced / All in all a great place especially when viewed in context of the hubub of Marrakech, here you have a quiet retreat and a fabulous base to explors from.

Le Coq Fou is a nice and quiet Riad. Our transfer was included and we were welcomed by Mohammed and after dropping us near the Riad, Youssef picked us up to lead us to the Riad which was useful because it was in the evening and you can get lost easily in Marrakech. We had booked dinner in advance for our first night which was great (home made by Laila) and more than sufficient. The room was nice, nicely decorated with a comfortable bed. The shower was not warm unfortunately but not a big deal for us. You can book excursions at the Riad as well, like the room, value for money and perfect for a city trip.

We had a really great time in this Riad in Marrakech, stayed several days and have slept in different rooms. The terrasse is great to hang out at night, the staff is really willing to help you with booking trips or to help you with transport.

Tip: 1) at arrival book the airport transport od the Riad, the caps can't stop right in front, cause it is in the medina, you save yourself a lot of searching if you book the cap ahead, and from the airport it is all the same price anyhow. 2) choose one of the rooms upstairs, there is one room downstairs this is the noisiest one (still cosy, but just if you have the choice)

we were 2 girls stays for 5 nights in fossile room.before you go, write down the contact number in case you dont know the exact time of your arrival. when we arrived Youssef-the receptionist welcomed us with great mint tea and explained everything about marrakech. The riad looked amazing, nice style, the rooms very comfy and traditional, the terrase was spectacular!! every day we had complimentary tea and any problem we had- the stuff tried to help us. the were very friendly including the owner and cleaning ladies. the two receptionists (even the third one from the riad next door) were caring, helpful and friendly. the breakfast was very good fresh and tasty! its close to the centre, just 10-15min from the square.they arranged a free shuttle. would definitely recommend

Room Tip: fossile room

we loved our time in this house.
- location: not so hard to find, very peaceful inside, dont get to hear prayer calling too loud
- staff: beshir explained sights and how to get to everywhere very clearly once we arrived; he showed up during breakfast and near dinner time to see if we needed him for anything and left us for privacy during most of the time (important, because at some other guesthouses the staff might seem to be too "hard-sell" i.e. wanting to bring you to their friends' stores to buy carpets etc); Layla is a very adorable, passionate, and kind lady. we love her warmth while talking to us, making us feel like a family (we left in a hurry and felt very bad that we forgot to take a picture with her :( Another staff, youssef, whom we didn't get to interact much also is a polite and helpful guy, just whenever we asked him about directions, taxi fare, those kind of things.
- breakfast was huge, Layla is very generous on the portion and pays attention to what you eat and not eat. she will give you more of what you ate the previous day :)
- house is cute and very clean. terrace and sun beds are very nice. it was too hot to go up there during the day. so we only went up to see amazing sunset and chatted looking up to the starry night at midnight.
