“A fantastic place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013 via mobile

I don't normally bother reviewing hotels or restaurants so that is an indication of how impressed I was by this gem of a place. The setting is fabulous, very beautiful, well thought out and very clean and comfortable. The gardens are a complete delight. It provided a very welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech - just perfect. The staff were incredibly polite, friendly and they really went the extra mile to ensure that our stay was wonderful...from cooking a special little snack just for us when we arrived, to arranging transport to suit us - they thought of everything! Francoise looked after us well and was always on hand to answer questions and provide local info which ensured that we had a safe and authentic visit.
The food was great, flavoursome, healthy and well cooked. The rooms are comfortable and very pretty.
What greater praise - we will definitely return, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

What a lovely place to spend a week! It was so relaxing. Ok it's a long way from anywhere but there is a daily taxi provided into Marrakesh, although one visit was enough for us. The grounds are lovely, the pool area is great, but the water is quite bracing! The staff are wonderful, all of them friendly and caring. A great mix of people as well. Trips from here into the Atlas mountains are definitely recommended.
Homemade bread, cakes, pancakes etc for breakfast along with freshly squeezed orange of course. And good freshly prepared food for lunch and dinner. The red wine is fab. Do watch the sun come up over the mountains, if the muezzin is happening at the same time it's very moving. There are peacocks, chickens and cats in the grounds and donkeys and dogs close by so can be noisy at dawn but it nevered bothered us.

Room Tip: If you can, a room that has a sitting area facing west is good to watch the sun dip. A terrace is e...

My partner and I were really disappointed with the hotel 'services'... Or rather severe lack of. We enjoyed the trip to the Atlas Mountains although I asked for a small car for 4x people and this was misunderstood for a 4x4 and we were charged the higher rate when I asked the manageress about this she waved her arm in my face and completely dismissed me stating 'you don't know what you want you must have ordered the wrong thing and stormed off to her office' this left me feeling utterly dumb founded and quite angry at the way the situation was handled or rather not handled.

The staff were friendly although we were told lunch would be served in ten minutes and waited just over two hours, it's safe to say my stomach thought my throat was cut! If there were any other options for food at all even a grocers near by I would not have eaten in the hotel very often. The food was nice but lacked choice and there was no snacks available at the bar for purchasing. The lunches were often cold on arrival and the menu was over priced and as everything was put on a tab it was hard to keep track of our spending leaving us with a huge bill at the end. I would recommend this hotel for no more than a two night stay as it is isolated and over priced and lacks the value. Loved all the animals roaming around the pool etc. although the cats jumped up on the seats while you were eating and were up on the table as soon as you left, other than that it was friendly and quiet. However if someone paid for me to go back I would not take it.

I was very disappointed with my stay here at the start of September. Although the complex was very clean and the staff were friendly enough I would not return here for a number of reasons. It is very secluded up a dirt track for 40 mins so if you do not like what is on offer then there's not much you can do about it. The menu on offer was over priced and lacked any choice at all, meaning I dreaded dinner time every night which was a real shame as I was looking forward to tasting some Moroccan food. Food was served cold at times and at lunch time I had to wait 2 and a half hours after I ordered to sit down to my meal. The transfers into marrakech are at 10-17.00 although on a hot day you want to be by the pool during the day not in the medina. However it is extremely expensive to go too and from the medina without these transfers so it is quite frustrating that the complex are not flexible with these times. The medina comes alive at night and there are no transfers at this time so if you want to see this then this is definitely not the place to go!!

We stayed at Quaryati 8th-16th of September- and we had the best time. You will find it to be quite away out of Marrakesh but it is well well worth it- and Francoise arranges daily trips into the Medina upon request. It was a welcome relief from the chaos and magic of Marrakesh- It was nice to return to the desert oasis, with green lawns, wondering donkeys and sheep, cats and peacocks! The pool is huge and very refreshing, the food is top notch. Around 15 pounds for a 3 course meal and the wine is about 12 pounds a bottle. Because you cannot drink the water there you have to buy bottled stuff- I would recommend you walk 5mins down the lane to to local village shop and grab it there as it is very expensive to keep buying it at the hotel- that is if your like me and go through a few liters a day. I recommend taking the trip to the atlas mountains- an unforgettable experience. If you want a fanatic holiday- Id be booking your spot here.

My partner and I (who are in our twenties) booked a suite for 7 nights at the Quaryati Ecolodge based on the reviews on Tripadvisor (which are pretty much all outstanding.).

Arrival: Don’t be put off by the journey from the airport to the Ecolodge. It takes about 30 minutes and the last 10 minutes of that is down off beaten roads. Book your taxi with the Ecolodge in advance as it will save you a fortune and the pre booked drivers know exactly where they are going. You’ll be greeted by the driver at the airport with a Quaryati sign.

At the hotel we were greeted by Francoise, the owner of Quaryati. She speaks fantastic English and is native in French. We were taken to the terrace and had mint tea and homemade biscuits (which were lovely!). We were then taken to our suite (109).

The Suite: If you can I really would book a suite, we had a separate lounge with a flat screen TV, dining table and chairs, two large seating areas and a small kitchen area with kettle, glasses etc. The double bedroom was big and spacious as was the separate bathroom with drench shower and lots of storage space. Outside we had a private terrace with table and chairs and also steps up to the roof of the suite where we could enjoy the evenings looking over the Ecolodge’s beautiful gardens and of course the Atlas mountains.

The Grounds: The Ecolodge has the most amazing grounds, Francoise said it took three years to plant everything and we could see why! During the day/early evening there were two donkeys roaming the grounds (mother and daughter!), sheep, peacocks with following babies and occasionally a cow! It was just fantastic and really added to the experience. The pool is big, it’s not heated but honestly it’s not necessary – within an hour or two the sun heats it up and you’ll be thankful on the really hot days! There’s plenty of sun loungers and most of them are under shade and can be moved etc The accommodation is split into two areas, rooms in one area of the Ecolodge and suites in another with the main guest area in between the two. As we were staying in August (low season) the Ecolodge wasn’t very busy (which for us was lovely) and as it’s 30 min’s out of Marrakech the silence around the grounds was perfect! There’s a free taxi shuttle every morning at 10am that takes you into Marrakech and returns at 5pm if you want to explore the souks – we did, it was fun and once was enough. When you arrive back at the Ecolodge it just makes you appreciate the spaciousness and peacefulness even more!

Food: The food was fantastic. My partner and I are not the most adventurous eaters but even for us the food was just right. Breakfast is served inside the guest building or on the terrace. It’s a buffet breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, fresh eggs, pancakes, tea, coffee etc. There’s a great selection for all. Lunch is served by the pool in the other guest area. There’s a good selection of sandwiches, kefta, salads, grills, frites. The portions are big and not expensive at all. Most dishes average around £3 - £6. Dinner is served on the lawn outside the main guest area, lit with standing lanterns – it’s just beautiful. There’s a set menu each day. You can 1, 2 or 3 courses and is priced around £13 for three courses. You won’t be disappointed, the food is fresh, organic and tastes amazing, the tagines of lamb, beef, chicken, fish are so good. Also the deserts are all homemade (the lemon meringue pie is just the best!).

The Staff: Francoise was a lovely host and she really did look after us and the other guests so well. She’s around quite a lot and always on hand if you have any questions. The maids looked after our rooms well and the waiters were polite and always willing. The waiters English isn’t the best but they really try and are currently learning English which is great. Having an Arabic/English translation book is always good to have and it’s actually quite fun trying to communicate!

Lastly: I could carry on writing and writing… All in all I would 100% recommend Quaryati Ecolodge. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, home cooked food, a lovely pool with grounds of colourful flowers, wandering animals and spacious accommodation this is the place for you! We’ve already booked for next year and we can’t wait to return!

We stayed at the Quaryati lodge for a week in July for our first wedding anniversary, and Francoise very kindly upgrading our room booking to one of the suites. The suite was spacious, clean and had it own terrace, with a living area and big bathroom/dressing room.

The photos don't really do the place justice - it has a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere and the flowers and green surroundings are just beautiful. The pool area is lovely, and one of the waiters comes round at midday to ask if you want to order any food/drinks and what time you'd like it.

We were there during Ramadan, so dinner was served later at 9pm and generally you had a choice of a couple of starters/mains/desserts. Cesar, one of the waiters, was really lovely and between his pigeon english and our pigeon french we always managed. We got into the habit of sitting on the veranda before dinner, having a glass of wine and playing a board game, and every evening we were served complimentary snacks.

We visited Marrakech for a day using the free shuttle bus (which was actually a car), we took the bikes out for a day and also one evening went to another restaurant by taxi (that Francoise arranged for us), called Bo Zin. Bo Zin was a great experience - go here if you fancy a treat (it's pretty expensive).

On arrival we were served delicious mint tea, we took advantage of the free hammam (which is worth doing!), and I also booked a massage in the spa, which is one of the best I've had and would definitely recommend this. We had a real chill out here, but also did enough to feel occupied (you can do as much or as little as you want to).

I highly recommend Quaryati and only wish we had more time there, particularly for the money it's exceptional value and would suit most types of holiday, where you can experience the hustle of the city and the calm of the country. We felt genuinely really sad to leave and hope to return one day and spend more time exploring the Atlas.
