“THE BEST "HOME-HOTEL" I HAVE EVER BEEN TO”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

What has made it really the best hotel I've ever been to is not the wonderful place itself (which is amazing), but specially the team there. They welcomed us and showed the city as if they were our own family. They helped us see the best places in the city addapting themselves to our few time by showing them to us themselves. We stayed just for three days in which we saw the best places in Marrakech, which are hidden to tourists, thanks to them. If you go to a hotel, get the keys and go, you never get to see this beautiful city, since everything seems to be hidden in Marrakech. But they know the place, even the people, and they tell you exactly what you have to visit according to your whishes. I will never forget those long conversations whith them and their kindness and patience. On the other hand, the hotel is a wonderful place, decorated in the traditional Moroccan style where you can feel comfortable. When you enter the Aguaviva, you feel like home.

We were a little apprehensive about how we would get on in Marrakech but our fears were soon allayed when we met David, Manel, Oti and Simo. Their care, thoughtfulness and knowledge of the city helped us to do the things we wanted to, many of which we would have really struggled to guide ourselves to without David’s excellent maps. Breakfast on the sunny terrace was always something to look forward to, with an array of choices, and we knew that if we wanted somewhere great to eat in the evening, David, Manel and Oti would be able to offer advice and reserve us a table. The Riad soon began to feel like a home from home for us and it’s a place we hope to go back to someday; it’s an excellent base for independent travellers who want to see the real Marrakech. We would not have enjoyed Marrakech nearly so much without the hospitality of the Riad Aguaviva team. The Riad itself is stunningly beautiful and an oasis of calm, which was definitely needed after a day in the city. Highly recommended.

We arrived on an evening flight for our 3 day stay and we were greeted so warmly at the Riad. We had arranged an authentic Moroccan meal on our arrival and from the very start our experience at the Riad Aguaviva became personal and bespoke .... within moments we were experiencing traditional Marrakech and were invited to go to the (very) local Hammam to collect our meat for the Tanjia. Cooked on an open fire it exceeded all expectations. David, Manel, Simon and Oti (excuse the spelling?!) could not have done more for our party of 7, especially as my brother is registered blind and my eldery mother was not too well. The care and attention we received was genuine and thoughtful. We cannot thank you enough.

Room Tip: Smara and Sultan were our favourite rooms - although all are lovely in their own way! Africa is poss...

My wife and I stayed at Riad Aguaviva 4 nights in March '14, our first nights in Morocco after a 24-hour trip from Boston in the US. Since I can't top other fantastic reviews of the riad, I want to address myself directly to the staff: Hannah, Silvia, and Simon, Cynthia and I will be forever grateful to you for taking care of us so well. Hannah, you kept saying, "This is your home" and after the first day we started to say "Let's go home" when we wanted some peace and a rest after the high energy of the medina. The riad is as beautiful and comfortable as every review says, but it is your warmth, intelligence, and liveliness, all three of you, that make it what it is. I'm sorry we did not meet the owners, but you do have a very special hideaway here.

Room Tip: We stayed in two rooms on the 1st floor (American 2nd floor) due to our schedule changing, Sultan an...

I cannot recommend the Riad Aguaviva highly enough. From the moment we set foot in Marrakech, we were looked after by the lovely team. The Riad itself is a beautiful building with themed rooms and a small indoor swimming pool. But what really made the holiday special for us was the way that the team (especially Silvia and Jana) constantly went the extra mile for us- walking us to the Djemaa El Fnaa and showing us landmarks to make sure that we didn't get lost, taking us to the Hamam and helping us buy what we needed and just generally being warm and lovely. Simo (I think that was his name) kept us supplied with endless coffee and lovely food for breakfast. They were on hand whenever we were in the Riad and couldn't have been more helpful.

It was the icing on the cake for our already wonderful trip!

This time I will do it in english. This is the second time we stay and Riad Aguaviva, and I see no better way of discovering Marrakech. We came along with both our moms and they absolutely loved it. David knew exactly what to recommend to make a perfect weekend out of it. It's not that I recommend to stay there, I just think it's mandatory. The charm of the Riad, the welcome feeling, the great food, the neighborhood...everything! Keep it up!

Stayed here for a night a week ago. Hannah and Silvia couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Lovely little riad tucked away down an alleyway.Great place to stay at the beginning of your stay in Marrakech to help get your bearings and the breakfasts are good too.
