“Heavenly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2010

Everything about our experience with the Lorsya was absolutely wonderful. Marrakech is an amazing city it will blow your mind. Outside the medina it's a modern bustling city but stepping into the huge medina is like travelling back in time. Buried in the quiet back alleyways is the Lorsya which is indeed an oasis in a medina that is manic. It´s perfectly placed within easy walk of all the action of the souks and Jmaa el fna.The staff were extremely helpful right from when we made the booking to our arrival, our stay, and the moment we left. They were discreet but always on hand if you needed them and they always exceeded expectations. They were happy to advise on everything from transport, restaurants, locations, normal prices etc. Indeed we should have asked them for a restaurant recommendation. Other guests heeded their advice to go to the Cafe Arabe just a few minutes walk away (Abdul will show you the way) which was just gorgeous. It was so cool and chic with several different areas to eat in, depending on your mood. We unfortunately followed our guides books recommendations to begin with and ended up most unfortunately at Le Tobsil was overall a dreadful experience.
The room we had, the Sherazade suite was divine, so evocative of the dark, alluring, mysterious Marrakech. It was luxurious and spacious and beautifully decorated. The riad has lots of nooks and crannies with several levels of roof terrace and you can eat or relax in any of them. The meal they provided on the first night was very good and breakfasts were excellent. Wine is not easy to come by in the medina but the staff ensured that a chilled bottle was always on hand.
We can't wait to go back to Marrakech if only just to sit on street corners and watch the teeming life. Everything on the streets from donkeys to limos, hand pulled carts to men carrying sheep on pushbikes! And when we do go back, we'll definitely stay at the Lorsya again.

Yet another five points review for the riad lorsya! I stayed there 4 nights with my wife and my daughters, aged 3 and 2.
Starting with the location, I have to say it is excellent as it lies near the main square, in the very narrow streets which are the very pictoresque heart of Marrakech. You cannot arrive to the riad with the car, so I suggest you to arrange the transport with the riad manager,Ilyas: a taxi will take you from the airport to the old town entrance and then a man with a cart for the baggage will lead you straight to the riad; I suggest you to begin to try to remember the way through these narrow streets so maybe you will get lost just once..
In the Riad Lorsya you are close to all main historical attractions, yet you are in a very quiet area, so your nights will be just ok.
The rooms are really nice, as pictured: I stayed in the Samsara Suite and found it comfortable and beautiful (very nice shower). The stairs to go to the night area are a bit steep so watch out if you have babies.
The most amazing feature of the riad is the outstanding care of the workers of the riad. Abdu helped us so much with the babies, the milk, letting us use the kitchen, drying our clothes in the terracen allowing us to check something on internet with their Pc...
The dinner we had our first night was really good, but the breakfast is even better: crepes, bread, yogurt, orange juice, fruits, mint tea, mermelade...all the energy you need to spend a long walking day through Marrakech.
The riad even has a small pool, but at the end of January the water is a bit too cold. Another cool point is the terrace, where you can enjoy a nice mint tea with a very nice view.
In the end I think the riad was a very good choice, the only drawback I can find to it is that there is no Spa (hammam and massage) inside this riad, but they can arrange an appointment for you in a close one in the case you want to have it. Also, bear in mind that the riad is in a block in which cars cannot pass through due to narrow streets so every time you will need to get to your car or to a taxi you will have to get there with a 5 minutes walk.

We stayed at Lorsya for five nights in late December, and everything, from the room to the breakfast each morning, to the helpfulness of the staff, was wonderful. They really go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your time in Marrakech, and are willing to help you book day excursions or dinner reservations anytime.

We were welcomed and felt at home from the moment we arrived to Riad Lorsya. ILYAS personally took us to the square on our first day and he gave us a little tour around the riad. He also arranged our day trip to Essaouira which was really greatAbdullah, ilyas and Fatima were warm and made our stay all the more special with their care and thoughtfulness.
Fatima took us to the Hammam and afterwards we were so relaxed that we lazed for 24 hours. If you want to stay at a Riad with warm and friendly environment, I will definitely recommend it! I will certainly come back to Morocco and look forward to staying at Riad Lorsya again
