“Cheap and cheerful but an experience worth doing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Has to be done even though you might get fed up with the hasslers trying to entice you to their stalls. Best to circle at a safe distance to identify where the locals eat before homing in. Probably best for kebab/grill rather than tagine as it is fast food stuff but do try a fresh orange juice. Food is cheap grills at £2.50 plus couscous at £2.50 but the bill can tot up if you order extra portions.

Good for cheap food in a hurry.

Would score it 3.5 out of 5 (if TA would let me) but on balance dropped down to 3 on food quality.

“Food was tasty and plentyful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Try different stalls especially the ones frequented by locals...........do try the snail soup....atleast to earn the bragging rights!! Try the different traditional teas at the stalls. Also we preferred having fresh fruit juices over buying water. We saw someone having an emptly 2ltr. water bottle filled with fresh juice at the juice stall....thought that was a great idea.

“Good experience, food quality can vary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

This is the essential eating experience in Marrakech. The stalls are built up from 4 pm, but the fun starts after dark. Star at one of the harira soup stalls near the police office or have snails at the other end. Then find your favorite dinner by looking what's on display. Have a kebab, tajine or whatever as long as it is cooked. And keep track of the costs :-)

“A must”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Be brave and just tuck in. The food here on some stalls was better than some of the fancy restaurants I visited. However it's the same sort of atmosphere as the souks with the servers all trying to steer you into their stall. Have a banter and walk around to the most crowded. Don't worry the service is always quick. And we had no stomach trouble afterward. Enjoy!
