“Home is where the heart is...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

and this is truly evident about every inch of Riad Camilia. So beautiful (so much to look at), friendly and comfortable. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave everything is taken care of with the greatest of ease.

Travelling with 2 friends and my 5 month old son, we had a great time. Picked up from the airport and met by Nico in the medina, to take us and our luggage the few minutes walk to the riad. Any request or query we had in advance was taken care of by Nico via email beforehand...no question was too stupid.

The hammam and massage we booked for our arrival were the greatest. Such an amazing way to get into the holiday spirit. Nejet is great at what she does. Feeling happy, relaxed and light we had dinner (catering to our various dietry needs and prepared by Fatima) on the roof terrace with Nico.

Nico is a great host, generous, hugely interesting, funny, informative and laid back. He does everything he can to make your stay, easy, enjoyable and interesting. Everyone and everything about the riad is like home and family.

The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was always on the roof terrace, such a nice way to start the day. Clear skies, beautiful views and the sound of the call to prayer from the local mosques. There are splash pools around the riad to accompany all the sunbathing and relaxing!

The staff are welcoming and sweet. Bushra made my life so easy by helping out with my son, playing with him and takeing him with her. He always came back laughing with the biggest smile. The riad has baby sitting facilities which I used when we went into Gueliz for dinner and dancing (our cabs were organised by the riad. They offered to meet us at the cab drop off point to take us back to the riad). Everyone always kept an eye out and an ear open for my little one, which was very comforting.

We got a chance to meet the owners towards the end of our stay. Really lovely people and generous to invite us for drinks with them and their friends on the roof terrace. A fun evening was had.

Marrakech is one of my favorite places to visit and I have done so over the past 10 years. I will definitely go back to riad Camilia and would recommend it to my friends. It's in a good location in the medina, close to the spice market and not far from jemaa el-fnaa. Also close to chemists and money changing places. You can arrange day trips from the riad, any help and information Nico is always at hand with what you need.

Riad Camilia is a special place...I love it!

Downside...having to leave Riad Camilia!

“A haven of peace, good taste and delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

If you want to enjoy a beautiful venue, amazing rooms and terraces, great food, unbelievable kindness and quality service, then this is the place for you for a romantic break, a stay en famille or with friends. As four friends taking a well-earned break after walking in the atlas, we loved our short stay and can't wait to go back. We found everyone helpful and were able to discover new spots in the Medina. And just lying on the terrace was idyllic too! Jane Goodman

“Totally awesome & unforgettable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

Amazing location. From the first second of arriving to the last, Nicholas and staff really went completely out of their way to welcome us and make our stay amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Smiles welcomed us at breakfast and throughout the day. The sunny and welcoming roof terrace is great for relaxing and Fatima cooked us the tastiest meals that we had in Marrakech. We asked if Fatima could show us how she cooked this lovely food, and she gladly took us to the market to buy the ingredients and then patiently took us through the cooking process. All rooms are suites and to a really high standard. Nicholas gave us great advice about where to go (and where to avoid). You should definitely visit Marrakech for the amazing sights, sounds and smells and you should definitely stay at the lovely Riad Camilia!

Nicolas & staff were there to take care of you. The riad was beautiful . The breakfasts on the rooftop every morning were good & the dinners we had there were also good. Nicolas arrange some day trips out from Marrakeck with a driver & they were great. He also took care of guide to show us around the Marrakech . It was a great! If you want to go & stay at the Riad Camilia to relax or to sightsee, they can take care of whatever you need. The riad is in the Medina.

“Where do I start ......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

OMG, what a fabulous place! Riad Camilia was everything that I had expected after reading the Trip Advisor reviews, but also so much more. I must have checked the website of every riad in Marrakech but something kept bringing me back to Riad Camilia and I am so glad I trusted my instincts. We stayed for 3 days (not nearly enough time) and were blown away by everything about this riad and its staff. Nicolas was the perfect host, Fatima is just the best cook & the 2 girls (Nadia & Bouksha) were delightful and all of them couldn't have done more to make our stay so enjoyable. There was always somebody there when you needed them (they seemed to intuitively know) but they were never intrusive.

The first inkling we had of the fantastic service to come was when Nicolas met our taxi from the airport. Cars can only go so far into the Medina then you have to go on foot to your lodgings. No easy task especially when you first arrive till you get your bearings. Our driver told us that most hosts expected you to find your own way to their riads but Nicolas was one of the few who always met his guests.

We arrived just early afternoon and Nicolas had arranged for lunch to be served & that was the start of a great dining experience during our stay. We had dinner in the courtyard at the riad on the first night & ate out on the other 2 nights. Breakfast was taken on the rooftop each morning, which was delightful before the heat of the day - and the little pools were a welcome relief after a day's shopping in the souks. When we come back again (as we all agreed we would) we would probably eat at the riad each night because Fatima's cooking was better than anything else we tasted. We ate at Le Foundouk one night & although it was a lovely setting, the staff were not friendly & the food was average.

We had rooms 3 & 4 on the first floor (air conditioned) and they were enormous &, yes, they are even better than they look in the photos. We had the whole floor to ourselves with comfortable seating in many little nooks so you could always chase the sun …. or get out of it in the heat of the day. The riad itself was a maze of beautiful rooms & courtyards with plenty of space to be by yourself if you wanted.

Nicolas organised a day trip to the Atlas Mountains for us – definitely recommended if you like hiking. He made sure that we had plenty of bottles of water to take with us (all on the house) and whenever we returned to the riad there was always a pot of mint tea & pastries waiting for us. It was all the little touches that Nicolas and his staff provided, and going above and beyond what is required, that sets the riad apart.
