“A wonderful and tranquil gem in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2010

We had a lovely time at Riad and all the reviews which referred to it as peaceful part of paradise were not over stating what we experienced during our first trip to Marrakech.

We had a very lovely time and Philippe and his your staff looked after us very well , particularly your Reception Manager and Abdul who went the extra mile in terms of making us feel very welcome and helping us to make the most of the city.

We ventured out a couple of nights and also chose to eat at the Riad and the food was wonderful.

Great location and easy to find use you get your bearings

I have just returned from Riad Mariana. It is a wonderful place. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and we were very impressed by the delicious breakfast (local bread and pancakes, home made plum and fig compotes, fresh orange juice and nice coffee) and atmospheric evening meal. It was like living in your own secret palace behind the rose walls in this bustling city. The rooms are beautiful-polished surfaces and rugs everywhere, I have come home inspired to make my house like Road Mariana!

Due to work commitments, booking was a last minute thing. We trawled the internet and reviews guided us towards this haven of tranquility. All the previous reviews are accurate and we hope that this review reads as the same.

After being driven from the airport by taxi arranged by the Riad, we were warmly greeted on arrival and shown to our room followed by a walk through the rest of the Riad; we were not disappointed.

The 2 year renovation by Philippe and his team has resulted in the most perfect place to base yourself just 10 minutes away from the mayhem of the souks and main square, all of which was the most fantastic of experiences.

Craftmanship throughout was of an exacting nature and within keeping as were the various objects d'art.

Neither cluttered nor bare, the eye for detail was evident and was reflected by the roof terrace, palms by the plunge pool, service offered from the cuisine to the hamman and all things in between.

Our on-suite room was perfect, very cool and on the ground floor 10 steps from the plunge pool. Good quality, thick bath robes and towels, a firm and good quality queen sized bed was perfect for a restful night; the air con being quiet and controlled via a remote.

To summarise, Riad Mariana exceeded all expectations as did Marrakech itself. We had the most perfect holiday and will return in 2011.

There will be no need for us to investigate any other Riads, we have found our jewel in the sun.

Upon arrival in Marrakech, I was super overwhelmed... Instantly I felt welcomed and comfortable when I walked into Mariana. We had a room with 2 twin beds. The breakfasts and dinners we had were amazing - the best in Morocco so far. I have been in Morocco for 2 weeks and nothing has been as nice, clean and friendly. We just booked our last night in Marrakech back at Mariana :)

Also - the Riad helped us hire an English speaking guide to give us a tour of the monuments and souks. His name was Mohammad. We really liked him!

I have travelled a lot in my life, but never have I felt so much at home as in this wonderful Riad.
Not only was the Riad a wonderful building, renovated and decorated with subtleness and style, located ideally to reach all spots in the Medina easily by foot and yet very calm and remote. Just 5 Minutes from "la place" like the marrakshi say, 5 Minutes from the souks, 10 Minutes from the Palais Bahia, 15 minutes from the Saadian Tombs.
But what really is absolutely outstanding is the team of Philippe, the owner. Friendly, kind, gentle, caring. Always there for you without beeing noticed. And this includes everyone. But one person has to be mentionned by name: Fatima. She is an angel came down to earth to make people happy. Her personality is stunningly gentle and friendly. And her cookery-, hamam-rub-, organisational and hospitality skills are unrivalled.
If you stay in Marrakech, stay at this wonderful piece of heaven. It is absolutely the best thing you can do. And we will never stay anywhere else in Marrakech as long as Fatima and her team, supported by the very laid back and great frenchman and owner Philippe run the Riad Mariana.

A la prochaine, mes amis et merci 1001 fois pour un temps exceptionel!

P.S.: I never ever had tears in my eyes leaving somewhere. But as it was like leaving a dear beloved friend, knowing that it will take quite a while until we see each other again, my eyes were all wet when leaving.

We really enjoyed our stay at Riad Mariana, as the staff was helpful and friendly making our stay pleasent and comfortable. The decoration of the rooms and the Riad is very tasteful. We really reccomend you to dine in the riad as the food was excellent. And last but not least the location of the riad is really in the heart of old medina just a few minute walk away from the main square.
