“Haven of Peace inside the Madness that is the Medina, Totally revitalising!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2010

I stayed in Riad ZamZam with my 2 year old for one night only as the other accommodation for the rest of the week was with friends who could not accommodate us for that 1 night. Riad ZamZam had come highly recommended by our friends who live locally and it did not disappoint. It is tucked away like a well kept secret in the north part of the Medina, and the immediate calm I felt as I stepped into the courtyard of the Riad was very powerful. There was the clear blue pool decorated with rose petals and the palm tree in the middle that confirmed the charm that I was promised. We stayed in the Rose suite on the ground floor which meant that the service we needed was right there and the staff were quietly amenable. Particularly when I treated myself to a Hammam and a massage upstairs in the spa rooms while my son was being checked on regularly as he was consumed by his Dora DVD. The Rose suite was really grand and I enjoyed the huge marble bath to its full extent. I also enjoyed the Lounge round the corner where I could hide myself with a glass of peppermint tea and a book. Riad ZamZam is authentic & pure but modern and fashionable where it needs to be. It has wifi that works and state of the art air conditioning. Ibrahim, the Riad's knowledgeable guide who speaks fluent English showed us around the souks and surrounding areas (wherever I wanted to go basically) and pushed the buggy the whole 4 hours!!! such a gent. He knows his stuff...I felt very safe in his hands. The best thing about Riad ZamZam? The food!!! OMG. Lunch was plentiful and so flavoursome, and Dinner consisted of first of all spaghetti bolognese made specially for his highness which he devoured after which he went to bed at 8 (thankfully), followed by a candle lit dinner for moi of which the main was succulent prune and lamb tagine on the roof terrace, under the stars listening to the hubbub of the medina at night, so peaceful....and the food is just beautifully authentic, top of the range....that's what you pay for. There is also a very helpful Taxi service to and from the airport which you really want to take advantage of. This is very much a boutique hotel type Riad which means the owners Marcus and Emma or their manager Iman (everyone speaks English) will have time to make sure you have the experience that is right for you and advise you accordingly on what would be good to do and when, that is their pleasure I feel. It's also very very pretty! Next time I'm coming with the girls!

Riad Zam Zam is a truly magical place. Marcus and Emma have done an amazing job in the construction and decor of their wonderful Riad, and also assembled a lovely team of staff to look after the guests. Every room has its own special theme - the lighting is out of this world, and the care and attention that has gone into the finest details is astounding. The Zam Zam is also the best place we eat! Highly recommended - we will be coming back. Thanks to the Zam Zam team

Our stay at Riad Zamzam was amazing. The staff, the owners, the rooms, the food and the service was absolutely on top of the hill. Specialy if you`re into Moroccan interior, this is it! The most beautifull lamps and rooms. They will arrange everything for you, like the best moroccan food (made by heart), personal guide, personal shopper, reservations for bars and restaurants etc... The staff want to make sure you have a plesant stay, so they recomend you all the best, depending on what you`re looking for.
Thank you for an unforgettable stay!!! Im defenetly coming back!

We had a week in Marrakech and Riad Zamzam absolutely made our trip, from the start to the end! We could not recommend this Riad highly enough - from the mint tea when you are welcomed, to help rushing out, last minute, to get last minute handbag bargains! Everyone is really friendly and the Riad is peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. Do not miss this Riad if you are staying in Marrakech!

We think all the great things about Riad ZamZam have been listed here by other reviewers - but honestly, this riad is one of the most fab places we have ever stayed in and really should not be missed. It's beautifully decorated (and feels like a complete oasis after the hustle and bustle of the souks!), everyone is just so friendly and it feels like nothing is too much trouble at all. The food is GREAT as well.....the baked apple and raisin pudding on our first night was amazing and even though I was stuffed, I basically licked the plate! Imane and all the staff are 5*, without a doubt...and she indulged our obsession with buying hundreds of pairs of slippers! We have great memories of our week in Marrakech and hope to be back soon. Thank you! x

Staying at Zamzam was a truly wonderful experience. I had never been to Morocco before and ZamZam provided a fabulous sense of calm in the Medina, after the full-on atmosphere of the souks. The styling of the rooms as well as the communal areas was absolutely stunning, with lots of chic finishing touches. The room was exceptional – the bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was gorgeous. The food was divine; the breakfasts hearty, delicious and healthy, and the dinner we had was better than in any of the restaurants we visited. Lying on the roof terrace, with views of the Atlas mountains, soaking up the sun with a gin & tonic was heavenly. I stayed there with a group of 17 girls for a hen weekend, and the staff really looked after us – they were so so helpful, arranging our activities and booking taxis, tables etc. I really can’t think of anything that I would change about Zamzam, and would not contemplate staying anywhere else on my next visit to Marrakech.

Like many riads in Marrakech, Zamzam's beauty is hidden behind a large heavy door in a wall down a dark alley! Open it and you are transported into an calm and scented oasis from the hustle and bustle of the medina. The rooms and facilities are clean and very comfortable and we can't say enough about manager Imane, Faisal, Aziz and the rest of the staff - they couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. I think we had three of our best means in Morocco here - chicken tagine with preserved lemons, lamb with quince and a fabulous seffa medfouna. The only slight drawback to Zamzam is its location - it is in the north of the medina and unreachable for taxis which have to stop a couple of blocks away. Visiting the souks and the tourist attractions requires a bit of a hike by foot (a good 20 minutes - but about an hour coming back because you'll never remember the way!). Don't be intimidated by the surroundings - it is very safe but a staff member is usually available to meet you from the taxi drop off at night. Staff are happy to arrange taxis, carriages, etc. which are very reasonable. And we highly recommend Imane as a personal shopper!
