“Charming, delightful Riad with impeccable service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

Spending 3 nights at Riad Zamzam was a simply wonderful experience. We stayed in the Berber suite, which was luxurious and spacious even with a cot in it. We found the room to be very quiet and peaceful, especially with the windows closed.

The setup of the riad is excellent for families - it is very safe and we felt comfortable going up a floor to the roof terrace with the baby monitor whilst our son was sleeping. It gives good peace of mind that you can see the rooms from the terrace and the riad is completely enclosed from the outside streets. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and they were exceptionally kind and attentive towards our two year old son. He still speaks about Faysal, one of the managers, playing with him during mealtimes now!

Nothing felt too much trouble for the staff and the meals that they prepared for us were wholesome, generous and delicious. Eating breakfast each morning on the roof terrace overlooking the city was a memorable experience indeed. The Riad also provides an in-house spa service that I would highly recommended, the massage in particular was excellent.

Although the riad is a little further out, we greatly enjoyed the strolls through Marrakech and found it surprisingly easy to navigate the souks after an initial morning with a guide (who was arranged by the hotel and was extremely helpful and informative). Contrary to the previous reviewer, we didn't feel unsafe walking through the streets after dark even with our son and found it was easy to get cheap taxis to and from the main squares.

Overall, it was a fantastic start to our holiday in Morocco and we wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are delightfully decorated - the first floor rooms feel particularly private.

This is a great Riad- beautiful, lovely rooms, really peaceful. The service is great, food tasty, and hamam in the spa on the roof is well worth it. The only thing that let it down for us is the location- not safe to venture out alone at night - I would take them up on the offer of a guide, and wouldn't risk it alone as we didn't have a great experience, which marred our trip. Hotel wise - you would struggle to fault it otherwise

Arriving on the early flight from Stansted at the Riad Zamzam, room ready and lunch on the rooftop terrace, with a very warm welcome from owner Marcus, made for a fabulous start to this short break in Marrakech. They organised everything for us, from trips to the Atlas mountains, bus tickets for Essaouira, meals in local restaurants, with special mention to Imane who was wonderful!
The beauty of staying in Riad Zamzam is the personal touch, that cannot be replicated in the bland chain hotels....We will be back.......

Room Tip: Issac room very cosy

Perfect Paradise place in the North of the Medina. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the peaceful and quiet atmosphere of the Riad, especially after spending hours in the souks!
Everything @ Zamzam is designed for your well being and tranquility, the staff is dedicated to you and you can really rely on them anytime, from welcoming you to advising on visits, trips, arranging a taxi, or even cook an omelette!
Every detail, every furniture is typic and elegant Moroccan style.
The Riad is located a bit far from the Souks and Medina center, this is not a problem as long as you remember your way back...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, riad Zamzam was charming and the staff were a real joy, nothing was too much trouble. The scent of orange blossom, the Hamman, the wonderful relaxing massage, a delicious lunch served on the sun drenched roof top (sun hats supplied). We would have no hesitation in recommending this riad for a very enjoyable and relaxing break.

The rooms and common area at Riad Zamzam are beautifully appointed, with Moroccan style tiles, lamps and furniture. There is a wading pool with floating flowers, and a comfortable library. It really does feel like a comfortable home. The roof deck overlooking the medina is a lovely place for breakfast or a wine in the evening. We loved hearing the call to prayer in the morning from a nearby mosque.

Most important the service was impeccable, led by manager in residence Faysal. He gave us guidance on places to visit, restaurants, directions (which are definitely challenging in the medina), and he served excellent breakfasts and dinners on request.

We will return, and recommend Zamzam highly

We spent 7 nights in Riad Zamzam, a beautifully decorated oasis in a quiet northern district of the old Medina in Marrakech, just a 15-20 minute walk equidistant from the Souks to the south and Marjorelle Gardens to the north west and within easy walking reach of Gueliz (the new town). If you want a taste of Medina life with the comforts of home and some spa luxury then this is the place to stay. On your doorstep is a local baker (you'll sample their fresh bread for breakfast!), a mechanic who cares as much for the local cats as the mopeds, a carpenter making cupboards with intricate islamic art detailing, a dear old man making Sfenj / Moroccan doughnuts (delicious with some mint tea expertly prepared by Faysal on the terrace), school children playing and just everyday Medina life. You'll come away with a real sense of Medina community spirit. In the Riad, it is an oasis of calm with everything taken care of and nothing any trouble, Faysal and Imane efficiently took care of any requests we had including day excursions to the Atlas Mountains / Ourika valley to experience Berber life, and to Essaouira (closest town on the coast) to experience a traditional fishing port. We also spent an excellent afternoon with the superb chef, Ilham, learning to prepare and cook traditional Moroccan food which we then ate for our evening meal. The hammam girls are fantastic and we would highly recommend a relaxing hammam and massage in the private roof top hammam after a day in the hustle and bustle of the souks.
Riad Zamzam and the people who take care of you are a real gem in Marrakech. We will be returning and will be recommending to our friends.
