“enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014

Nice room, interesting area and authentic. Dinner and food was absolutely lovely - really nicely cooked and good quality ingredients - complements to the chef. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The main square is about a 15 minute walk away. Would recommend getting the Riad to pick you up from the airport as the driver will walk you directly to the Riad from the place where taxis are parked.

We've generally enjoyed staying at the Riad Zam Zam. The staff is super friendly and the food was delicious. Breakfast on the roof terrace was one of our daily highlights. The Riad is well hidden, but after some orientation we managed to find it ourselves coming back from our tours. Walking through the dark alleys of the medina in the night is a bit adventurous, so this might not be ideal for families with kids.

The only issue we had with the Riad and I'd suggest the management should do something about that, is that the rooms on the 1st floor can be quite noisy. Apparently the washing machine on the top floor (which can be turned off) as well as the water pump (which cannot be turned off) produce a humming sound which can be disturbing. Especially when you come back from an exhausting tour through Marrakech and were hoping for the beauty of silence in the Riad.

But besides that, our stay was perfectly organized and we will probably visit again in the future.

Thank you for your review and i'm glad you had a lovely time at Zamzam. Thank you for your feedback. I just wanted to let you know that I have checked out the pump noise and yes I can hear it click on from time to time. I have asked a plumber to come today and he is going to insulate the pump and laundry area so this will be rectified today. I have checked all suites on the first floor and can report that this can only be heard in the one room you stayed in, but as of today will not be heard any more. Thanks so much for letting us know. Zamzam is such a quiet relaxing riad in a calm residential area, its one of the most important aspects to our clients. Hope to see you again and thank you to everyone for the fabulous reviews it means so much to our hard working team.

Within the old city walls and a 10 minute walk from the centre of town is a haven of peace and tranquility. The staff are very helpful and knowledgable and will arrange anything you ask them to do. Trust their recommendations for restaurants serving local food! Yummm. Hire a guide for walks around the city and ask for Ibraham - he is excellent. If you want something different for breakfast each day just ask otherwise you will be served exactly the same for the duration of your trip. The rooftop is a relaxing place to while away a few hours and have a Hamman. You will feel refreshed and cleansed and ready for an evening of entertainment. I thoroughly recommend this Riad.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room which is on the ground floor. Ask for an additional light in the Rose Room...

What an amazing weekend!! Myself and a group of friends stayed here for three nights in November. We were so well looked after, from food and drinks, to taxis and spa treatments - extremely friendly and accommodating. Beautifully decorated, each room had it's own character. We all had a fabulous time - highly recommend!!!

We have just returned from our first trip to Marrakech and could not have been looked after better by the team at ZamZam. We were looking to book at last minute four day break & ZamZam had been recommended to us by a friend. We arrived to find a gorgeous retreat and received five star service from start to finish. ZamZam took care of all of the logistics and nothing was too much trouble to arrange.

Marcus organised a taxi to meet us at the airport on arrival and to drop us back at the airport on our return – airport transfer fares were added to the hotel bill which helped logistics on arrival when we were not quite up to speed with the local currency (you can obtain currency in arrivals at the airport).

The riad itself is a real sanctuary from the busy streets and is beautifully decorated and maintained. We ate in the riad for two nights during our four night stay – it was great to have three courses to include a tagine waiting for us on arrival from the UK! The cost of eating in the riad was similar to that of the restaurants and the quality was just as good, if not better. Won’t deny it, the breakfasts were a highlight of our stay – freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit salad with yoghurt and honey, pancakes with fig and apricot jams and omelettes revived us every morning.

Marcus and Faysal both talked us through a map on arrival at the riad so that we could get our bearings and we did not need a guide during the day and used this map alone – just make sure you allow more than enough time to get back to the riad before dark & be prepared to get lost on your way back through the souks! Marcus suggested we use a compass to find our way back north towards the riad and we found this to be an invaluable means of successfully navigating our way back to the riad in the evenings. It takes only twenty minutes max. to walk back from the main square through the souks to the riad. Make sure you book a hammam scrub & massage at the riad – well worth it.

As two lone twenty-something girls in the city we had been warned of potential unwanted attention and really appreciated being chaperoned by Faisal and Assiz in the evenings to and from the restaurants. ZamZam recommended and booked some wonderful restaurants for us during our stay.

I have never written a Trip Advisor review before but this hotel is the exception & certainly deserves it. Hoping to return soon!

What an amazing experience at this Riad. Once you find it, everything about it was beautiful. The family that own it are amazing, the staff that work there are amazing, our room was amazing, the service was amazing and the food was delicious. I cannot recommend this Riad enough. . We absolutely loved it here and would say that if you are going to Marrakech then you need to try this place. Truly lovely experience all-round - . Congratulations and thank you to all at the Riad zamzam as you have an amazing place.

While ZamZam might be a little further away don't be daunted by the walk, it's all part of the experience. The staff are amazing and cater to your every need, whilst the rooms are exactly what you hope. It is definitely worth the trip and I'll be back.
