“Stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

A wonderful time in beautiful surroundings over the Christmas period. We were made to feel so welcome on our arrival and ongoing the whole experience was relaxing and calming. The quality of the food and service were excellent - and the wines. The Riad itself is beautifully presented but could perhaps use a little maintenance in places. It is also quite a long walk around a neighbouring cemetery to get anywhere which I didn't mind at all, but there are certainly better located Riads within the Medina. Would advise that the hamman on the roof is given a miss and visit a Riad specifically set-up for this, oh and don't have a mani/pedi - slow, expensive and not the best quality.

Room Tip: If privacy is important request an upstairs room since those downstairs open out straight into the c...

Thank you for the lovely review and we are glad that you enoyed our wonderful team, confort and great food.

In response to your negative comments:
We have just come through winter and all riads due to their age, suffer humidity in the walls. The riad has since been completely re-painted, (hard to carry out when you are never empty.) The manicurist/pedicurist has been changed and we are now confident that we have a world class Spa Team. We have chosen not to have a hotel on the square as it is noisy 24/7 and we choose to be in a calm residential area which does mean you have to walk 10 minutes more but most guests really appreciate this. They like to get away from the hustle and bustle after a day in the souks or sight seeing. The Medina is a walking holiday full of activity and sights.

Visited here last month, and disappointed with the quality for the price. It opened a few years ago and now needs some upkeep it is just not getting. Dishes are chipped, drains are clogged, sheets are stained. The British owner tries hard, but is not cut out for the hospitality business. Local staff tried hard too, but not the same quality of service you'd expect at a high end, expensive riad. Also it's a very very long walk to the souks and the Jemaa el Fna. Beware of aggressive young men in the streets at night who will lie to you and tell you a gate is locked, or a way is blocked, in order to pressure you into paying them to get you back to the riad. These are criminals who are trying to rob you. I would never stay here again.

A truly wonderful experience! The warm cup of local Moroccan tea upon arrival was the start of the service we were to enjoy. The staff were very helpful and informative and the owners, Emma and Marcus could not have done enough to ensure our comfort. A taxi was laid on to collect us from the airport which made our arrival hassle free. A very friendly guide was arranged on our behalf to take us around the medina and the souks - an investment which was well worth making. The rooms were delightful and clean, each with its own unique style. The bedding was very comfortable indeed all made even better with the addition of a hot water bottle supplied by the very attentive staff! (We went in January when the evenings were cold). Food was yummy enjoyed in front of an open fire. Thank you to Emma and Marcus for making our trip special.

Room Tip: They were all nice!!

It was surreal, a short and inexpensive flight from Gatwick, the easiest of transfers and there we were in the luxurious and peaceful Riad Zamzam situated in the north of the old Medina in Marrakech, and all before lunch! What a gem of a place and such lovely staff who were so welcoming and attentive. The Riad is a perfect retreat after the hustle and bustle of the Medina, which is an experience in itself! But we were truly looked after from day one and so thankful for their advice and recommendations. Guides, taxis, trips, restaurant bookings and the airport transfers were all arranged by Emma and Marcus, the owners, who clearly put customer service high up on their agenda. Everything was top class, you only have to look at the attention they have paid to decor where the authentic and the modern are cleverly mixed, the food which is so deliciously appetising and a taste of the ethnic cuisine, plus the added bonus of the rooftop spa which is both relaxing and invigorating, to realise that they run this business with the utmost professionalism. Thanks Emma and Marcus, and your staff, for making our stay most relaxing and enjoyable.

Zamzam really is a peaceful retreat away from the tourist throngs, but still within comfortable walking distance of the action. Given its location, the unbroken views south across the medina from the rooftop terrace are wonderful, with the Atlas Mountains forming a stunning backdrop. The room was very spacious & plush with a beautiful marble & tadelakt wet-room/bathroom. I particularly liked the little touches such as the light fittings, fluffy robes, and gorgeous toiletries. The rooftop hammam & spa treatment room were also very welcome! Service was really efficient and discreet. Breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace and dinner in the salon, the food at all times excellent with a wide choice. Zamzam is a beautifully-restored, traditional riad complemented by some subtle modern detail. I thoroughly recommend a stay here.

i spent 2 weeks at Zamzam which went by at remarkable speed. transport to and from the riad was arranged by marcus and emma who also warmly greeted me on my arrival. i instantly felt i was a valued human being and not a number.
the riad was breathtaking from the ground floor library to the roof top terrace. my room was spectacular with every attention given to the most minute details.
the staff were ALWAYS very friendly and helpful. every single time i was greeted with a smile and an offer of assistance. my sense of direction is lacking to say the least, a staff member from the riad was always willingly to accompany me to obtain a taxi or to get me back to the riad. I was provided information on where to shop, etc.
every meal was delicious and artfully prepared. fresh fruits and juice, yoghurt, various breads.......... the hamman and massage were lovely.afterward i sat on the terrace feeling more calm and peaceful than i have in a very long time
i did not see emma on the day i left BUT she called me to say goodby! if you are looking to have an incredible experience this is the place to stay.
