“Very nice place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

Dar Al Hamra is a hidden gem in Marrakech Medina. The rooms are beautiful with a large bathroom that has actual water pressure - a rarity in Morroco! The rooms are clean and come with AC, breakfast is nice with local bread speciaties, freshly squeezed orange-juice, tea and coffee. you can either eat in the courtyard or on the rooftop terrasse with a gorgeus view of Marrakech Medina. The personel is very friendly and give you help you with wathever problems or questions you have. Would definitely recommend this place!

This is a lovely little Dar (a hotel with private bathrooms, but it is a house where owners and workers live too). It is worth getting picked up at the airport, although they charge you for it. It's hard to find otherwise, but once they show you your map over the welcoming cup of mint tea, you can see how easy it is to walk to the Koutubia Minaret and the main square Jemma El Fna. Watch out for the guy with the monkey. He will try to toss it on your shoulder and demand money. Stand firm and don't take a photo or he will be very loud about getting money for the photo you took.

So, the Dar was welcoming and had a lovely rooftop terrace with breakfast served there. IT was awesome. The rooms have air conditioning and ours had a couch, closet, nice bathroom, and comfy bed. The door did have a padlock, although they do come in to tidy up.

I loved it. Note: Do not do the excursion to SEtti Fatma that they arrange. It was not a good experience and cost lots more than just the payment we made to the hotel. I would go online and find the excursion companies and have them come get you and make sure you get to see all the tings or waterfalls or whatever you want to see.

Took a little finding( but just round corner from Bab Doukkala mosque) what a gem of a place if you do not want the trappings of hotels. The staff, Nabil and Brahim were excellent and my whole family really felt welcomed and looked after. Lovely rooms, breakfast on the roof terrace, main square just 10 mins walk. Excellent.

This was the second place I stayed in when holidaying in Marrakech and I really liked it! Very friendly service, Brahim and the rest of the staff were lovely. It was far more cosy than some of the other riads I had perused prior to staying in this one. It is very secure at night and quiet after a hard day shopping in the souks. There was always hot water and the room was spotlessly clean. It was good value for money as well compared with others who were offering double the price for a similar service. Highly recommended.

The riad is close to get from Place Jenda el Fna. The stuff is very friendly and they can help you find the best prices when you want to go shopping in the medina for souvenirs. The breakfast is very good. It is a nice experience if you look to stay in a riad and not in a hotel. It is traditional and yet modern : hot shower, air conditioning, internet.

ok, so i was reading the other reviews here and felt I needed to review this place. If you are expecting a hotel quality stay this is not your place. This is your place if you are self sufficient and need minimal guidance. So the riad, amazing. truly. I loved this place. We had two delux rooms, (I was travelling with one of my male buddies) and each room was large with a big seating area and private bathroom. The Riad is toward the edge of town but only about a 10-15 minute walk into the center of town. As far as the staff not being helpful, I disagree, he arranged our transfer to and from the airport as well as a private car tour to the Cascades de ouzod. (which are amazing by the way!) If you stay here, I strongly recommend having the riad set up your airport transfer as they are on a side street and very hard to find the first time. The street leading into the actual place is dark and almost creepy, (even for two grown males in the middle of the night) but once inside it was great. so beautiful. Marrakech is such an amazing city, and staying in a hotel seems like it would make you lose a very large part of the experience of the culture. I reccomend this place 100% and would stay here on any return visit!
