“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2011

Stayed for four nights in March 2011. Excellent hotel. Great facilities, very clean, spacious and modern rooms. Breakfast great and staff very pleasant and helpful. Great price for this standard of hotel. Good location for both sight seeing (old town) and nightlife (new town).

Once we arrived we had several problems with the room (twin beds when we asked the couple, dripping faucet, flush with noise), but all were resolved by room service, even if they have taken a little time. The staff is very cordial, but not all speak English. The rooms are very cozy and the beds are very comfortable. The cleanliness is impeccable. The location is also very good: 20 minute walk to Jemaa el Fna and famous souks. The breakfast is varied, international menu, and there is reasonable amount of nearby restaurants.

We arrived at the hotel and were greeted with mint tea and some pastries while completing forms for check-in and were then taken to our room. I was travelling with 3 friends and we were upgraded to a suite with a connecting room which was most appreciated. The room was spacious and clean with an electronic safe in the room and a spacious bathroom and twin beds. The pool is more of a plunge pool and we did not use this as it is not heated and is in an area that was not getting direct sunlight but could be a welcome place to cool down in the summer.

We booked full board and ate in the hotel on the first night only and were not overly impressed and I would not recommend eating in the hotel when there are so many amazing places to eat in Marrakech. Breakfast is below average but most with a reasonable selection we were able to find something to start the day. We paid £30 per person per night and I thought this was great value for money and would definitely stay again.

We hired a guide and were taken around the highlights of Marrakech on day 1 and into the Atlas Mountains on day 2 for €30 total for both days (in a 4 x 4) and I would highly recommend this as we had an amazing experience - going to a tannery, the Majorelle Gardens, seeing how the Berber's live, finding out how Argan oil is made and used, going for a walk into the Atlas Mountains to see a waterfall.

Had a 4 night break at the Dellarosa tuesday to Saturday, staying in a Junior Suite on a half board basis.

The hotel looks more impressive from the outside on the pictures, however once into the lobby it is very nicley done.

We stayed in room 505 which was a junor suite with seperate living room/kitchen and bedroom with a large bathroom was huge bath!

The room was clean and tidy and as advertised with aircon, x2 TVs x2 Sofas and coffee table, large wrap around balcony (no view to speak off) - all nicley furnished. Free wifi in the rooms and throughout the hotel (including isolated spots on the roof!) as well as two computers free to use in the lobby if you dont have a wirless internet device with you.

There is a roof terrace with sun loungers tables/chairs and a roof bar with stunning views over Marrakech to the snow capped Atlas in the distance. There is a further bar with a singer on most nights on the ground floor (unfortnuatley it closes at 11pm).

There is a very nice, if expensive SPA - you get 1/2 hour free use of the jacuzzi - with a variety of available treatments. As others have said, the small pool is in a courth yard that gets a limited amount of sun and is very cold.

Going halfboard you recieve brekfast (continental buffet style including tea/coffee/orange) and the choice between lunch or dinner. We never went to lunch so cant comment, however eat four times in the resturant for dinner. Unusally (from the other hotels I have stayed in in Marrakech) dinner is a waiter service set meal rather than a help yourself buffet. Couldnt fault the food all very nice, if small potions). Unfortunatley the waiter service was veriable ranging from terrible to poor! we wernt overly concerned about waiting 1/2 hour between courses por for your bottle of wine to be delieverd but somewhere.

The location of the hotel is good, with a variety of bars, clubs and resturants in the vacinity. Approx 10 to 15 minutes from the New Town 16th November Sq/Garden at a simlar walking time to the medina and Jemma el Fna.

DO NOT pay more than 100dhs for a Taxi to and from the airport. They will try and rip you off, unfortunatley in accompaniment with the concierge at this hotel who conspiratorially wispered to me not to pay more than 150dhs to his pet taxi driver.

Overall a nice place, if you can get it at a good price then I would highly recommend.

I stayed at this hotel from 2. february untill 9. february. I wish to say the most important thing first: I had my telephone stolen by the cleaning staff, and my friend in the room next door had her make-up bag bag stolen aswell. It all happened right before depature, so we didnt have time to complain - we had a flight to catch. Afterwards the staff at the hotel didnt really do anything to help me, and except for one e-mail I havent heard from them. This combined with everything else that went on during our stay, I would never ever recomend anyone to stay at this hotel.

At frist we were impressed with the hotel, it looked great and modern. But the hotel is very cold all over, the rooms are dark and cold aswell. It wasnt very clean. We also had to change rooms mid-week of our stay because of cochroaches and other bugs in our room. They could not offer us a new room right away, so we had to spend the night in a room with bugs, and the new room we were given had cochroaches aswell. When saying this to the reception, they didnt seem too bothered.

The breakfast was not very good, mostly cakes and sweets and no variation at all - the same food every day, so we werent able to eat a decent breakfast at the hotel.

The rooms arent very soundproof, we could hear everything the neighbour was doing/saying. One could hear everything from the hallway as if it took place in the room. The most anoying part was the fact that the rooms were so cold, you could not walk around without plenty of clothes on.

Only positive thing I can say is, that the location is great. Walking distance to everything. But that is about it as far as positive is concerned.

Oh yea, dont try their spa or massage. I went to their hamam to get a scrub and massage, and i ended up regretting it. The massage was not performed by a real masseuse. This woman just rubbed my body with oil for 30 min. no massage at all.

First of all I would like to inform dear guest that we are insured and that we have no interst in covering up you loss.I am glad that the guest reconized that we responded through an email. The lost stuff was declared upon departure and as we responded ,we did our reseach and there were no introduction to the room as given by the elctronic lock log between the time the guest went in at night and the time he left in the morning.
Therefore I will be very happy to check if you visited some restaurant or other places at night and left it there. We will glad if you provide us with the data of where you went at night to help us finding out.
For your other comments , I am surprised as on your departure apart from the incident the guest specified, the guest looked satisfied of the hotel and even told us while complaining that she was so satisfied that she gave tips for all the staff.
Professionnaly talking ,we have a health enterprise coming on monthly basis to check and treat the hotel and delivers a certificate. To find something in your room and to be moved to another room and find another insect will be almost impossible.
This was clear on the response of our guest to our email for which we keep a copy that the guest was threathening the hotel that he will make sure to post the worse reviews
I am profondly regretting this incident. We still at your entire disposition to do what ever we can if you gardspass by Marrakech again and do the declaration to the police to engage the insurance.
There is no more we can do I regret dear guest a part from hoping that you will come back to our hotel and let us do a minimum to cover up your loss that we are sure was not in our hotel.
Regards

Spend 4 nights at Dellarosa Hotel in Marrakech.

The hotel it self was quite nice, but the problems started when we got to the room.
The room was quite small and the plug for the bathtub was missing. After a long wait an engineer finally arrived with a new one that only just fitted in and only let the water out slowly..
The first night, I wanted to get a bottle of water from the minibar, but saw that it had already been opened and refilled with tab-water.. That took some explaining with the staff to convince them that I didn't drink it..
A reaccuring issue was the lack of towels in our room.. They never managed to get us the correct number of towels.. The first day we didn't get any clean towels at all and the second day they only gave us one set.. It is quite tricky when most of the staff only speak arabic and french.. I would expect from a hotel of that standard to have staff available on each shift who at least speaks english!

The breakfast was ok.. But only just.. Not a large selection of items on the buffet, but they were fast in refilling the trays.

One evening we went to the hotel bar for a drink. That was a funny experience.
The bar it self i very dark and gloomy and there are two live musicians who were giving their interpretation of popular songs, not very well, but VERY loud!

This hotel has all it takes of a good 3 star hotel, but doesn't quite cut it as a 4 star.. If you keep your expectations at a minimum you will enjoy this hotel, but primarily for its good location between the new and old part of town!
