“Good Family Holiday.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

My Husband and I along with our Daughter, Son in Law, Grand Children and there friends ( 8 of us altogether) stayed here in July. Upon our arrival we were greeted with cocktails and told we could book in and go for food which was brilliant after our flight as we hadn't eaten since we left Gatwick airport. The booking in was very quick and easy and the reception staff were brilliant, they gave us a map and also directed us to our room where our suitcases had been taken to already by the porters, which again was great instead of trying to drag them around ourselves.
There was an ATM in the reception also a small gift shop.

The food was brilliant every day, there was nothing negative to say about the food, there is a huge choice of things to have, ranging from fruits to cheeses to cooked breakfast. At night there was a choice of booking into the Italian and Moroccan Resturants which was also Buffett, it would have been nice it it was waiter service to make it more special, also the menu was very much the same as the main resturants. Times for breakfast, lunch and dinner are very good, you never seem to miss out on the meals. The waiters and waitresses were also fantastic, always very welcoming and chatted away.

I was impressed with the drinks.. unlimited drinks what ever you wanted from all three bars. The alcoholic drinks were not very strong, but all the wines, beer and G&T was very palatable and all of the bar staff were very friendly. There was wasps around BUT they weren't interested in you in the slightest, they were more interested in the fizzy drinks.

The bedrooms were very nice, spacious and cleaned everyday. It was also nice to have a large patio to sit out on at night. The beds were very comfy and the room was cool all throughout the night so we both managed to sleep very well.
Our room was in the1000s, and on the ground floor which we requested, that block was the nearest to the pool .
The only negative was you had to put towels on the sun loungers by 6-30 am otherwise you didn't get one, they need a lot more sun loungers to accommodate the amount of people.
All in all it was a lovely family holiday, in a lovely hotel, with very helpful friendly staff.

Room Tip: Take plenty so sun cream the temperature reached 45 in July!!

My wife and i stayed here for the last two weeks of July 2014. We had a great experience here, the rooms were spacious and clean, the gardens were well kept and the rest of the all inclusive experience was just as great with the restaurant having a wide variety of good food and the bars a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were helpful and friendly and whilst tipping is an optonal extra that could improve the service it was certainly not a necessity. The main pool was large with plenty of room whilst the indoor pool provided a quieter corner to relax in. The gym was compact but rarely busy. The hotel is located away from Marrakech itself, but was only a short taxi or free shuttle bus ride away which was easily booked through the 24hr reception.

The only negative issues we had here were the shortage of sunbeds around the pool which meant that people got up at daft o'clock in the morning (5.30am) to reserve them meaning by around 7.30am there was very little hope of getting one and my wife also greatly missed having coffee making facilities in the room but a kettle could be supplied on request so long as you can provide your own coffee.

We stayed in this hotel for Easter and just wanted some winter sunshine. Having already visited Marrakesh the year before for a city break we had no intention of leaving the hotel, as we had seen everything we wanted to already. We booked Easyjet flights, a private transfer on the internet and then direct with Thomson for the hotel only, this saved us about £500. We took my 18 year oold daughter and she loved it too. The animation team are amazing and work so hard to get everyone to join in. If you are not interested, no worries. Special mention to Kamel and the guys who take the aqua gym (water aerobics) they were absolutely hilarious and we made sure we did that everyday. The water polo was more a spectator sport for us, as it got very competitive but great fun to watch. We didnt really see the evening entertainment as the weather was exceptionally hot for April and we were happy to sit outside after dinner playing cards etc. The entertainment all took place inside and it was boiling in there, so we didn't bother. However one night we did see the kids singing and dancing in the lobby with the team and parents joining in too, looked great fun and if we had younger kids with us would no doubt be joining in! Sunbeds were not a problem as we are early risers so we were down there most days by 8am and always got 3 beds together. The pool was cold as it was early in the season but after a couple of days the heat warmed it up and it was refreshing to get in. Alcoholic drinks were really good especially the coco loco cocktails! Not the usual paint stripper we have experienced in Egypt and Tunisia. The food was wonderful and no tummy upsets at all. Our room was great overlooking the tennis courts - perfect for us as I emailed in advance to request a top floor and quiet, which was exactly what we got. The room was plenty big enough for 3 adults and my daughters sofa bed was actually very comfortable. Balcony was large and unoverlooked. Some of the rooms that overlooked the paths were quite shady and dark and you could see guests with lights turned on even in the daytime, but probably not an issue in the hotter months because they probably stay cool. My only grievance was our last day, with an evening flight we did not need to leave until 7pm but the hotel was full for the Easter weekend and they could not offer us a courtesy room or late check out even tho I asked well in advance and did not expect this to be free. Previous guests we talked to were given time slots to go to a courtesy room so we were really disappointed there were no facilities for us. We were met with 'not our problem' at the desk and you will have to use the shower in the indoor pool, along with everyone else! it was awful, only two showers around the indoor pool which were dirty and no privacy. Three small swimming pool sized changing cubicles in the lobby by the entrance to the gym, no hairdryer or a socket to plug one in, no dry towels. It was chaos, people queuing to shower and change, suitcases and hand luggage everywhere in this lobby section, with guests trying to change, pack their last few bits etc. Thank goodness it wasn't a massive Thomsons departure day, but just independent travelers or it could have been worse. For a Riu hotel of this rating and considering the wonderful service we had had during our stay, I was very disappointed and angry too. In fact I even considered changing and plugging a hairdryer in at the main reception area in protest! However, dont let this put you off, go and have a fab time - we did!

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the ponds as the toads croak well into the night and early morning!

Myself & my partner stayed here last sept all inclusive and were gob smacked at how beautiful the entire place was. The gardens are like little spots of paradise, the pool is large and great for the amount if guests here. The staff are friendly and also there to please. The bar staff do work on tips for better service, but even without tipping they're polite. The entertainment crew work around the clock, doing various acts and activities for all aged guests. Really is a great hotel. Free shuttle into the main square which is great to visit the suiks and square.
Recommend this to anyone thinking of going to Marrakech!! Well worth the price!

Wow what an awesome hotel. My wife and I spent 2 weeks here with our son in July and have not 1 bad thing to say. The food is excellent quality, variety and served at great times within long windows i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner so you can pretty much always eat! Food was fine for our son with no concerns at all. Great air con rooms and very dark which made nap times a breeze, travel cot was also supplied but we took a mozi net just in case. Loads of free bottled water available and room fridge which again helped with our son. Good sized bath as well. The staff are amazing and cant do enough for you and especially for children, the kids club was very good and allowed him to play there if we stayed (min age 4 to leave children) this was 10 till 12 and I think 3 till 5 ish with kids disco at 8! The bar and restaurant staff are also so good with kids we felt very welcome everywhere. There is an army of staff that make the hotel great from cleaners to chefs or gardeners they are all so friendly. Indoor pool offers a bit of relief from sun and a chance to cool off. The weather was fine for all three of us, mid 30's but cool in night and never to uncomfortable. All football and movies available in room which was great as world cup was on! Definitely recommended!

Room Tip: Ground floor was great with little one as he could nap whilst we sunbathed on grass outside!

lovely clean hotel

on the whole food was good for an all inclusive although the al a carte was a little disappointing in that it is still buffet

staff could not be more helpful from the bar staff to the reception and cleaners all went that extra to make you feel welcome

rebooked to complete the sightseeing in may 2015 so we look forward to seeing everyone again

courtesy bus runs right into town and the taxi back was only about £8

Room Tip: if you like to finish the day with a sundowner on your balcony block 2 west facing is for you otherw...

Just returned from a much needed relaxing break in Marrakech.

On the whole it was a very pleasant experience, grounds were immaculate, Pool was great and big, food was good and varied, always cooked well and plenty of choice even for those not adventurous. Tajines and cous cous are really good. Bar staff were fabulous even though the alcohol was extremely poor, stick to the beer, it's the only decent drink there! Tip if you get good service but it's certainly not expected and very appreciated when received.

SUNBEDS - the situation is a joke, never have I stayed somewhere where people are getting up at 2am to reserve beds......yes 2am, come on people, you're on holiday, never let it be said about the Germans reserving beds, these were all Brits......ridiculous!

The animation team try their very best but I have to say that its pretty poor, not blaming them, I think Riu need to think about getting some more experienced people in the team not just a few young men wanting to talk to teenage girls.......... Some were a little creepy at times!!!!!

Not allot to do for older kids as in over 10 so be prepared to throw your little ones around the pool for hours on end!!!!!! Kids club is only geared for very young ones.

Get yourselves to the souks, don't panic about all the hype, it's a very safe place and children will enjoy it but it can be very busy and manic at times, no pressure to buy as in other countries and cultures, drink fresh orange juice, eat street food, or find a Riad and soak up the atmosphere (loads hidden away behind the madness of the souks) Barter hard with the traders (aim for less than half the original price) go into the mountains, visit the waterfalls in Ozoud (don't book through Thomson, loads of companies that provide private tours for a fraction of the price)

I'm not a massive fan of this style of package holiday as it does tend to draw a certain crowd but if you like that sort of thing then great, you'll have a blast, if you want to use as a base to get into Marrakech and experience Moroccan culture then it also serves a purpose. If you're looking for 5 star luxury then look elsewhere, you get what you pay for!

Would I return......maybe for a cheap short break for guaranteed sun....you get what you pay for and this is Africa after all!
