“Paradise within the city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

This Riu hotel was really fantastic. It felt like a beach paradise within a bustling city - perfect to come back to after a hectic few hours in the souks. The pool area was particularly lovely. Our room was big and spotlessly clean. The restaurant was excellent with a great choice of high quality food. Well done Riu!

we arrived back on 01/10/13, had an amazing time, hotel and all staff were fantastic, 8 girls together and we all enjoyed ourselves, would recommend going to the souks and medina on your own not on an organised trip, free shuttle bus to and from medina, pool is huge and plenty of beds, good range of activities around the pool too..... thats if you want to get involved, would definatley go back for longer next time :)))

stayed at the riu tikida in marakech from 2nd september to 12th september, the hotel is lovely and clean and the staff are also very helpful and polite and friendly, the room was very nice, and spacious too. the pool is to die for it is huge but quite chilly if you want a morning swim but warms up slightly by the afternoon as you will need to have a dip to cool off as it is about 40 degrees there at that time of year. although we did find that a lot of the sunbeds were broken as we saw people checking them in the morning lifting them up to see if they had broken, but on the whole was still easy to get a bed each morning. the food is cooked very well although can be a bit samey each day. and the cocktails are not the best i have had either. entertaiment in the evening is varied but still needs a few tweaks to make it a little better. was a bit dissappointed when it came to the day before we had to leave as we were not due to leave the hotel untill 8pm in the evening and checkout of the rooms are 11am, so as we were told by thomson to ask for a late checkout 24 hours before which we did we were told all rooms were taken which meant we had to sit around for 9hours before being picked up which wasnt the best end to a very nice holiday. and also as you have to change your stirling to dirhams in morocco we did this at the hotel no problem and once again were told by thomson rep that we could change any dirhams that we had left at the hotel , we tried this and was told that they did not have enough stirling to change it back for us and that we would have to do it at the airport, but as we had had to wait for nearly an hour and a half to get through passport control when we arrived we thought we may not have time to change it up there which was exactly the case because we got dropped off at the airport, had time to get through passport control again which took over an hour go to the loo and we were being told to go straight to the gate for boarding, so was just as well that we decided to spend it in the hotel shop but found it too be very overpriced for things in there and so really just wasted £100 pounds on stuff that we didnt really want just to get rid of the money as you cant change it back when you arrive home so we would have been left with 1000 dirhams. it just seemed that it was all geared up to take your money but not really that helpful to help you change it back again to stirling and it was'nt just us we spoke to a couple of people who had the same problem. overall it was a very enjoyable holiday but dont think we would go back again for us it was a case of, been there seen it glad to have experienced it but wouldnt do it again. the trip on the calleche by night into the main square and souks is very good though it cost 900 dirhams for the two of us on the thomson excursion, but the town by night is a real eye opener it is absolutely buzzing with thousands of locals and tourists, street stalls food stalls everything just comes to life compared to the daytime which is a lot quieter. we found that the excursions with thomson were quite resonably priced which makes a change too . so yes i would recommend this hotel if you ever want to go to morocco but just be aware of the points i have made about changing your money back to stirling and booking your room for late checkout, i would suggest you ask a few times for the room just to make them aware that you want to book it .

Room Tip: All rooms seem very nice views as the gardens in the hotel a beautifully kept

Just returned 1 oct 2013 . The weather was amazing . A wonderful hotel with very friendly staff who could not do enough for us . No hassle for tipping ....therefore we gave a good tip on leaving those we felt deserved it ....maybe a good ploy but a welcome one. Trip to Atlas Mountains on 4x4 was great ..a chance to see The Berber people in their own homes and villages. The free hotel shuttle bus was welcome and very reliable as the medina is a good 10 -15 mins away ...about £ 8 -10 in a taxi depending on time of day. The medina is a must ...the only reason for us visiting ...and totally lived up to expectation ! If you saw" Jaimie does Marrakech " ...Jaimie Oliver ....you will know what I mean . Eating a tagine on the rooftop of a restaurant watching the sunset whilst listening to the sounds and smells of the vibrant medina ....just stunning !
Trying to find a negative ...the fridge was warmer than the wonderfully air conditioned room ...
Be careful using the ATM in the hotel lobby ....it didn't recognize my card , the rep helped by keying everything in in French , it worked , twice then retained my card. The hotel reception told me the bank were responsible and visited twice a week ....after we had left . Luckily I always have a back up card...
The spa is cheap ...not the best ever I've had but ok.....
Just relax and enjoy....

Room Tip: All the rooms seemed to away from the main areas , ours was ground floor and right at the back there...

Stayed here in nov 2012 and was completely blown away with just how nice the staff were , really happy people. Hotel was very nice too . Lots of cats , lots of frogs at night but not a problem. Stayed all inclusive for 4 days and have to say did not get bored with food , plenty of variety , clean surroundings . Room was very large with super kingsize bed . Had to take travel kettle as no tea making facilities in the rooms. Bar was a very nice area although not suitable for non smokers , drinks were very strong.. Not a problem for me but some people were returning drinks and asking for weaker ones.

Room Tip: Very large grounds so just prepare for a bit of a walk

Just arrived back from a golfing break at this Hotel. The staff were excellent, but the rooms, although spacious were in need of an overhaul. Pillows and towells were unacceptable. The food was generally excellent, although some variety would have been nice. The pool area and gardens are very well kept, and clean.

Room Tip: Suites looked nice, but still same problems with old pillows and towells...

Family of seven visited this hotel for 2 weeks. Nice and clean, food is of a higher standard then normal all inclusive hotels, but have to admit after 2 weeks I started to get bored with the same thing.
Pool is lovely, lots of sunbeds available, the majority of the staff are lovely with just a few mini hitlers about that feel they are very important.
The hotel is a bit out of the way but a quick taxi ride into the square sorts that out.
The hotel shop is horrifically expensive and again staff in there are rude. They just ignor you whilst carrying on phone conversations. Also worth noting that there are lots and lots of newspapers and magazines and not 1 of them was in English, they were all French.
All in all a very quiet and peaceful holiday. If you want nightlife ad entertaining this hotel is not for you, but if you want peace and quiet you wont find a nicer hotel.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same
