Went to the hotel on the 11th january 2013 for 10 nights. The entertainment staff were there to meet and geet on arrivel helped with checking in and directions to the room, a great welcome which left us smiling. Bags were left at the door and were in our rooms once we got there. This set the scene for all the staff in every area throughout the week . No one could be picked out as giving excellent service with a smile because they all did . The managers were always visable and chatty the chefs were helpful if we wanted ask about certain dishes the entertainment staff worked their socks off all day and most of the night, so hats off to them. The food was really good, we didnt eat anywhere but the general dining room which at that time was not over full and I see from other reviews there is criticism of the " canteen" effect and tables too close together , I would think in a hotel all inclusive of this size it is to be expected , but this did not detract from the quality and variety of the food. I ate really well all week good breakfast lunch and evening meal and managed to loose a couple of pounds ( which I needed too but wasnt trying) . There were a couple of themed evening in therestaurant which were excellent. I hed a couple of spa treatments same story staff were lovely and made me feel at ease and very relaxed. Good treatments at a very reasonable price, the Thomson rep at that time had some offers available in the spa. Went on the Atlas mountains 4x4 trip through thompsons which was excellent, there was somone in our 4x4 who was travelling independantly but booked through Thomsons as it was the cheapest he could find. We hired a guide from Marrakech vie e mail in England for our first trip into the city I would recommend this if going for the first time it was easy to organise and cost around £70 for the day for the two of us with a guide including lunch and entrance to the sites, which we paid for as we went. Be warned if you go at this time of the year that the mornings and evenings are relly cold and so need some very warm clothes and boots and jeans if going into the mountains. Even the walk from the room to the hotel requires a jacket. the outdoor pool was freezing agian to be expected only a coule of brave souls took a dip. But it was warm enough to sunbathe and a couple of days were really hot. After years of travelling this is the first time we have done a non beach holiday
, first time for years longer than 7 days and should have done 2 weeks ( usualyy a week is long enough for me), I came home and said I need to go back to this excellent hotel and to explore more of Marrakech.
