“Fantastic hotel in Marrakech!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2011

I have just returned from staying at the Imperial Plaza hotel & Spa hotel in Marrakech - it's fantastic! From the minute we arrived, until the minute we left - the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and all the staff ensured that we had a very enjoyable stay.

The rooms were lovely. Decorated in typical Moroccan style. Had both air conditioning and heating, if required. Rooms had flat screen tv, had a fridge and a safe in room. Some rooms have a balcony too.

Breakfast had plenty of choice, fruit, yoghurts, pastries, rolls, pancakes, scrambled eggs, selection of cheese and cold meat, Moroccan and English tea, coffee, fresh orange juice - something to meet everyone's requirements. Again, the staff again were very helpful if you needed anything.

In the evening in the bar and lounge area, you could sit, relax, and listen to the Musician who was really good.

The pool on the 6th floor, was beautiful. Perfectly clean, with no need to worry if you wanted to go swimming. The pool area also had sun loungers to lie on, and there was a snack bar there too. The views from this area are fantastic. Views of Marrakech, and the Atlas Mountains. Great for taking photographs.

The Gym is also situated on the 6th floor, as is the Spa.

You can reach all tourist areas easily from the hotel - Jamal el Fina Square, Menara, Palmerie, either by taxi or driving.

If you wish to book Tours, then the hotel staff can arrange that for you. Nothing is a problem to them.

I want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at the hotel, who made our holiday all the more enjoyable. We will definitely be back very soon! :) Can't wait. I've told everyone to stay there!

Marrakech is a beautiful city - go and visit it and see for yourself! I can promise you that you will definitely want to return! Enjoy!

When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist was quite abrupt and generally rude. We had booked for a week full board which included breakfast buffet and evening meal buffet only no drinks included not even water. The food was ok if you like fried onions and lentils for breakfast but it was not great. The restaurant staff were rude and we did not feel welcome I actually felt really uneasy. There was no kettle in the room and we had to run the water for a bath for half an hour before it got hot also the toilet did not flush alot of the time. The pool was much smaller than the photo let you believe and was unkept we daren't go in for fear of infection. This hotel is dated and could do with a regrout in the bathroom. However the lady who cleaned our room was lovely and we enjoyed Marrakesh alot. This hotel is about 3 miles out of the centre but the petit taxis are cheap and usually there are some outside the hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room in a different hotel

They do not give you a bill, just tell how much to pay. When our amount was nowhere near to what it should have been, I was told that the menu we were given was an old one, the prices have changed but they didn't have time to re-print the menu. It took some effort to get the right change. The food was not great at all, and 8 out of 10 of us got food poisoning, really bad one, actually the worst I ever had. However food poisoning could have come from anywhere else in Marrakech.

Booked for three nights, with my partner and 4 month old baby, turned up at reception, smiley happy greeting, great start, had to pay tourist tax straight away,i didnt mind that, i also asked had they given me a kettle ( did email them) they said no, i said i needed one to sterilise baby bottles, they said they would get me one in the morning, and they also asked if i required a cot, i said yes.
Got to my room, it looked alright, not 4 star, more like three, rooms big and so are the beds, but sheets are tired and had holes in them.
Bathroom ok, towels were good.
Anyway, waited allnight for cot, it never turned up, but i thought i wont complain, the beds were big enough for me and the baby to sleep in.
As it was late we thought we would eat at the hotel, bad choice my tangine had dried up chicken and my partner had pizza that was cold in the middle and had tinned mushrooms on top.
Next morning we got up for breakfast, it was ok, but if you like pancakes you will be alright but you could queue for 15 mins for them.
After breakfast complained about the kettle, they said if they could not get one, they would buy one, i thought great.
Well guess what, after complaining we never did get a kettle.
Anyway, as we have a little one, we go to bed early, i booked this hotel as they had sat tv with english films, on the second night the films dissapeared, tried ring reception, over and over again, nobody answered.
Thought i would leave it until the morning, i complained to reception, they said they would send up someone up, he didnt turn up until evening.
All he did was go up and down with the channels, and telling us that that the italian channels were english, we kept telling him, no they are in italian.
Anyway, he said he would be back, guess what, he never did!
The swimming pool was lovely, but on the last day, there was black soot on the loungers, didnt notice until my 4 month baby had black marks all over her clothes, and noticed it was all in the pool too, it came from extracter that was on the roof, and was blowing soot everywhere, i complained again, but i knew i was wasting my time.
I dont recommend this hotel, its too far out of the way, you wouldnt mind if it was nice, but with the poor service, and lies, its not worth it!
On

Room Tip: Pick the back rooms, they are quiet.

1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2011

We stayed four nights during October half term break with our two teenage boys
They checked us in a twin bedded room although we had booked a quadruple room.
They apologized said it was a communication error but as they were full they would try and move us into a bigger room next day. They did offer us a slightly larger room with two beds and a sofa bed on the forth floor facing the noisy street. We hesitantly agreed as we did not want to waste anymore of our time.
We were staying half board and the meals were terrible ,looked and tasted as recycled from previous meals. not much choice and poor in quantity and quality.
Tried to see the manager but he avoided to meet us.
Would not recommend this hotel its is less than 2 star quality certainly not 4 star.
The owner has a bad reputation with the locals.
Most of the staff are friendly but seem very scared of their senior staff. We witnessed a bulling attitude towards them. Rooms need updating, towels are old and worn. Musky smell throughout.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with the garden view (less noisy)
