“A beautiful riad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

We enjoyed our stay at La Porte Rouge at the start of our holiday so much we cut short our visit to the coast to return there for our final night in Morocco. Both rooms we had were beautiful and each one quite different. For our second visit we were in a room right up on the terrace and it was lovely to be able to walk out there in the morning and sit in the early morning sun before breakfast. The service was again outstanding - nothing is too much trouble for Adil and the team. There was some confusion over our return flight time and Adil sent someone over to the airport to check the flights for us. He also drove us up to the square and later summoned a taxi at very short notice to take us to the airport. The atmosphere is lovely - friendly but also private - and the attention to detail is excellent: monogrammed towels on the rooftop sunloungers; sunhats to protect you whilst you breakfast on the terrace; rose petals on your bed; and dressing gowns in the bathroom. The Riad is a little way out of the centre of Marrakech - but only 5 mins by taxi or a 15 min walk - and only a short distance from the Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs. Definitely the place to stay if you want to be within the Medina, in a riad with character, comfort and excellent service at a reasonable price.

“A brilliant Riad.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

We would definitely recommend this Riad. We arrived in the evening and were greeted with mint tea and biscuits by the lovely Adil, who was very helpful in showing us a map of the city and telling us about places to go etc. We were then given a delightful room, beautifully furnished with a good size ensuite and a safe. Although the hotel owner was not there during our stay, Adil and the other staff were all great and so friendly, and ran the hotel very professionally. We had a couple of lunches and dinners at the hotel, which were delicious, not to mention lovely breakfasts on the roof top terrace, and there was always someone around to look after us.

When booking the hotel we had been worried about the distance from it to the main square, but the 15 minute walk is definitely manageable. We were also a little hesitant about the size of the pool, but we found that it was actually fine because there was a jacuzzi on the terrace as well. All in all, we were completely happy with the hotel. We loved Marrakech but it wouldn't have been the same without such a peaceful, relaxing Riad to stay in!

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

Hello, I stayed at La Porte Rouge for 3 nights with a friend. The welcome was very warm-hearted with minth tea and different sorts of pastery. The riad, run professionaly by a very stylish and nice French lady, is niceley decorated with eye for detail. Everything is very clean and taken good care off, rooms are spacious and have airco. The food is great! The staff does everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The Riad is about 10 to 15 minutes walk from teh medina, might be "long" in the heat, but for us it was no problem. Would recommend it to anyone

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012 via mobile

I arrived and was greeted a adil who was very friendly and offered us a mint tea with sweets. Adil showed us on the map the local attractions and explained how to get around and helped me many times through out our trip. Our room was really cosy and had a brilliant shower, it also had a safe which comes in handy.
Breakfast was served by mustapa who was a real gentleman and he also made us a lovely tangine. This riad was really nice and wipes the floor with so called 4 star hotels like royal atlas in agadir see u guys soon a big thanks from your brother radwan

“Relaxing, friendly riad -lovely staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

Enjoyed our stay...lovely riad tucked away from the chaos of the square. The staff are really welcoming and very friendly. Adill is so helpful and can help you out with anything you need. The rooms are lovely and the riad has that Moroccan feel you would want.

It's about a 20 minute stroll to the square but nice to take in the local life along the way.

It has wifi but we couldn't get reception on the roof terrace or from our bed...we had to stand by the door but downstairs was fast connection where it's nice and cool with sofas to chill out on.

Noise starts at about 8.30am with people going out and cleaners which was reasonable really.

Overall a lovely place to stay. I would only visit Marrakech for 2-3 nights as its not a huge place. We did the open bus tours which allows you to see the old and new in a day.
