“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

Hello, I stayed at La Porte Rouge for 3 nights with a friend. The welcome was very warm-hearted with minth tea and different sorts of pastery. The riad, run professionaly by a very stylish and nice French lady, is niceley decorated with eye for detail. Everything is very clean and taken good care off, rooms are spacious and have airco. The food is great! The staff does everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The Riad is about 10 to 15 minutes walk from teh medina, might be "long" in the heat, but for us it was no problem. Would recommend it to anyone

I arrived and was greeted a adil who was very friendly and offered us a mint tea with sweets. Adil showed us on the map the local attractions and explained how to get around and helped me many times through out our trip. Our room was really cosy and had a brilliant shower, it also had a safe which comes in handy.
Breakfast was served by mustapa who was a real gentleman and he also made us a lovely tangine. This riad was really nice and wipes the floor with so called 4 star hotels like royal atlas in agadir see u guys soon a big thanks from your brother radwan

Enjoyed our stay...lovely riad tucked away from the chaos of the square. The staff are really welcoming and very friendly. Adill is so helpful and can help you out with anything you need. The rooms are lovely and the riad has that Moroccan feel you would want.

It's about a 20 minute stroll to the square but nice to take in the local life along the way.

It has wifi but we couldn't get reception on the roof terrace or from our bed...we had to stand by the door but downstairs was fast connection where it's nice and cool with sofas to chill out on.

Noise starts at about 8.30am with people going out and cleaners which was reasonable really.

Overall a lovely place to stay. I would only visit Marrakech for 2-3 nights as its not a huge place. We did the open bus tours which allows you to see the old and new in a day.

We stayed 6 nights at the Riad La Porte Rouge and booked it via email. We had airport transfers organised by the hotel and were welcomed with a mint tea on arrival and Michel took time to take us through the area and a tour of the Riad. The Riad is beautiful and comfortable as was our on-suite room. There is a lovely terrace complete with seating area, sun loungers and jacuzzi. The staff were so welcoming and helpful especially Michael and Mustafa. Breakfast was varied and substantial made up of cakes, bread and pancakes with orange juice and tea/coffee and we ate at varied times in different places in the Riad. We ate a couple of evenings in the Riad and the meals were excellent and cooked by Mustafa. Mustafa's cocktails are also delicious with a welcomed kick! We spent quite a bit of time at the Riad as it was our oasis of peace and Moroccan luxury away from the hubbub.

Definitely recommend it. We recently returned from 5 days in Riad la Porte Rouge. My wife and I absolutely loved it. We are both 30 and wanted comfort and style in the hotel without breaking the bank. Its really well decked out. They did a great job making a really stylish, traditional and comfortable riad. My wife is an interior designer and she was taking pics everywhere cos she loved it. All the staff are very very friendly and will help you out with anything you need. It's all very personal. When it was sunny we ate on the roof terrace which is very nice, and when it was raining we relaxed and ate in the salon or in the interior courtyard, with Max the cat a great companion. The breakfast is better than many you will find (especially when fruit/yogurt is provided) with good coffee. We felt very safe, comfortable and happy throughout our stay. We left our safe wide open one day by accident and everything was untouched while the room was cleaned. You can eat breakfast as early/late as you want and order food at anytime throughout the day.
Its fairly convenient for the center too if you don't mind walking a bit - about 20 minutes to the main square. If you're tired or not up for the walk, best to take a taxi. Fantastic stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in 'Hiba' on the ground floor. It was beautiful and we didnt mind our door opening...

Such a friendly, chic and peaceful place. Karen is a perfect hostess and she has a lovely relationship with her charming and helpful staff. The food was delicious and service was just the right mix of courtesy, kindness and sense of humour. We'll definitely return - insh'allah! Thanks especially to Mohammed who went beyond the call of duty to help us with an unexpected guest xxx

Lovely room with en suite shower and a safe. Helpful, friendly English speaking staff and a great cook - massive portions! A little set back from the high street but don't let this put you off of a lovely stay. If you don't like cats stay away though as the ones here behave like dogs and pester at meal times.
