“Our children keep asking us when we can go back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2011

We spent 5 very relaxing days at this hotel with our two children aged 5 and 2 ½.

This is a small, friendly place about 20-25 minutes from the Djama el Fna. Its highlights are without a doubt the wonderful, immaculately maintained garden and the beautiful heated swimming pool whcih acts as a focal point for the hotel. Service is attentive without being invasive and the food, while simple, is delicious and authentic. Minor glitches -eg temperamental plumbing- are fixed immediately when they occur and the atmosphere is one of relaxed luxury.

Our children had such a wonderful time playing in the garden and swimming in the pool that they keep asking us when we can go back! They "want to live in Morocco", and declared Dar Ilham the best place they've ever been to. Surely the sign of a great holiday! Although this is not a family hotel it is ideally suited for families due to its size, secluded location and friendly service.

Its distance from the center of town is at the same time its blessing- complete, wonderful quiet- and its weak point- transports can be expensive and problematic especially in high season when taxis are scarce. The introduction of a shuttle service to and from town would solve this issue and make this lovely hotel perfect.

A beautiful small hotel 15-20mins taxi away from the busy, noisey, Medina. Quiet and relaxing with a warm outdoor swimming pool, good food and wonderful hardworking staff. Ali and Mohamed supplied lots of information and advice. We took a bus into the Medina using a free bus pass a few times and came back by taxi at night. The staff have time for their guests, Ali and Malika taught me how to make the famous Mint Tea. Freshly prepared food was always delivered with a smile From Malika and Fatima. The service is friendly and first class. We spent enjoyable evenings in the fabulously decorated lounge with other guests chatting. A very special holiday.

Really not that far from the Medina (about 15 minutes) but offers a perfect way to experience riad accomodation and cuisine with great value for money. We recieved personalized attention throughout, Ali and the other folks were very very helpful and friendly. The staff can arrange for day tours at a very short notice We were all vegetarians, the staff went out of their way to prepare really good food for all courses. The rooms were splendid and each room had a unique decor. All in all a perfect stay and would recommend this to anyone visiting Marrakech.

We stayed in this hotel in December 2010 for 3 nights. From the very start when we were collected from the airport by the very helpful taxi driver. The stay was perfect, the staff were so helpful and welcomning, nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the suite in the Riad which was excellent, our room was serviced twice daily, the hotel was very clean. The location of the hotel is about 20 minutes by car from the main centre, we found this fine as staying in the centre may have proved a little hectic and noisy!! The surroundings are very peaceful, calm and tranquil, relaxation was taken to another level here!! The pool and jacuzzi were good, the spa treatments were also excellent and very reasonably priced. The food was good, we ate in the hotel often, all the meals were of the highest quality with plently of variety for the evening meals. Overall if we are in Marrakech again i would without doubt stay in the wonderful hotel once more and would recomend it to anyone!!!

Mohamed and Alli on reception were fantastic, speaking great English, helping us find our way about, printing out maps, recommending things to see and do. We couldn't fault them. The room we booked (the Ali Baba room) was much smaller than we'd expected and since this was a rare "once in 5 years break without the kids" we wanted to feel like we were living it up. We got upgraded to a much bigger room free of charge and even had a personal meeting with the Riad owner who gave us a lift in to Marrakech to show his sincere apologies!
It is a bit far out of town (13km), but we loved it. We soon mastered travelling on the bus with the locals (the Riad give you a free pass - but obviously a taxi is always an option but about 25 Euros) using my school boy French. It was nice to hang around with locals who had nothing to gain from treating us well, and yet they were really friendly and funny - laughing at our foolish Western behaviour!
Like all Riads the breakfast is pretty much the same every morning, but it is substantial and sets you up for the day. The pool is lovely (heated) as is the hot tub spa.
For a place to get away, explore another culture and spoil yourself, this place is great. It's a bit pricey to eat there in the evenings (25 Euros each), but if you're on a holiday like this it's a nice indulgence. Eating in town is more like 10 Euros each so you can alternate if trying to keep to a budget.
Would definitely recommend this place - we had a great Christmas there!

This was our second trip to Marrakech but our first as a family (18 month old and 3 1/2 year old). First time round we stayed in the Medina, but as we travelled with kids this time, far better to stay outside the medina. Cooler, plus swimming pool etc.

We had a fabulous stay, 4 nights, at the hotel. Hospitality was attentive and very good - a little French goes a long way! Rooms were good sized. Swimming pool allowed us spend 2 great days with kids, enjoy lunch by the pool and then an afternoon/early evening in Marrakech. Clearly a boutique hotel and lots of couples, but if your kids are reasonably well behaved then they'll be very well received.

Food was fab, although if you stay more that 3 nights recommend eating in Marrakech for a change and perhaps a lighter meal.

Overall a great stay and will return. A la prochaine.
