“Family holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

We had a fabulous holiday with our (then) 10 year old son. He enjoyed it so much that we are returning this April with my parents.
Ali and the rest of the staff do anything and everything to make your holiday a memorable experience and they certainly do succeed.
The place is immaculately clean and the pool is like a bath ! wonderful !
The only down side is the amount of food they offer for breakfast - we always felt so guilty about leaving any but there was just so much of it and all too delicious ! now is this really a down side :-)
They are a bit further from the city than the web site states but this was not an issue for us as we wanted a nice relaxing holiday and as there is a mini bus on site, you can go wherever you want, when ever you want.
I would highly recommend Dar Ilham to anyone (and have already to some colleagues) and would say it is worth every penny to be treated so well.

Room Tip: Pick one of the suites as they are bigger and are not much more expensive.

We normally go for mad cap city breaks at New Year, but this time we really needed a proper rest, and ideally some blue sky to go with it.

Dar Ilham offered the perfect Solution for our requirements.

Beautiful, well appointed room with a balcony that made the most of the amazing Moroccan sunsets. A pristine, heated swimming pool that still looks brand new. Tasty, hearty home cooked food that is potentially a little dear, but when the service and surroundings are taken into account any guest should be more than satisfied.

If you want regular access to the Medina then Dar Ilham is perhaps not for you, but if you want to recharge your batteries and experience friendly, helpful yet unobtrusive service, then this place should be high on your list.

Plus, we get to go back to the office with a healthy glow thanks to late December sunshine. :-D

We have just returned from our honeymoon. We had a fantastic stay at the Kasbah Dar Ilham. The Riad has 7 rooms and is very clean and tidy. The facilities are good and include an outdoor heated pool and hot-tub. We both had a spa treatment in the Hammam which we both enjoyed.
The Riad is about 25 mins from the main town and we made use of the free shuttle. The hotel staff were very helpful and flexible; our luggage didn't arrive when we did and they helped us to return to the airport.
Via the Riad we booked a cooking lesson, it was great fun - but it didn't match the descripton that the staff provded us with. This didn't matter as it was a fantastic day at a beautiful purpose built cookery school.
We enjoyed 2 meals at the Riad, loads of food and very good qualtiy. The cost was slightly more than we expected but it is well worth it. We escaped into the town centre one evening which is an amazing experience and we had a very cheap meal in one of the pop-up restaurants, this was one of the highlights for us.
The Riad is like a calm paradise compared with the crazy town - a great place to relax and enjoy good weather and lovely food in a beautiful location.

This place is a little piece of heaven. It was a bit hard to find, but when we arrived we forgot that immediately. The staff - especially the waitresses - were very kind. And the food... we loved it! We regret that we didn't stayed a bit longer!

The Riad was right for the price...you may want to be super pampered elsewhere but for the price you cannot beat it. Clean. Clean. Clean ...my middle name. Gorgeous heated pool, mint tea upon arrival....the shops and sights are a bit away but the Riad provides free public bus passes and free shuttles from 11 am to 6pm. Staff is wonderful and accomodating. No phones in the room...which you either love or hate. They go above and beyond. Pick your own restaurants to eat at because the ones they will send you to are Tourist Traps...we learned after the first night. If you stay on a Saturday you can visit the market where the "people" shop. Interesting smells, sights, and if you are cold you certaintly can find a pair of socks. Enjoy.

Room Tip: Choose a suite if you want to move around a bit...

We stayed for a week and saw other reviews recommending the Kasbah. We chose the twin room but was so disapointed in the size of the room and the lack of space in the bathroom asked to be moved to a different room. The staff were very co-operative and agreed to move us to a double room in the Riad next door for a 20 euro per night charge, this was a far better room and the Riad was much quieter than the Kasbah which suited us. The whole property was extremely clean and the staff, especially the waiting staff, were just brilliant and so friendly.
our major criticism was that most reviews said the Riad was around 20-30 minutes from Downtown. Our experience of this is not the same. We estimate that on average the local bus took 45 minutes, the hotel shuttle around 30 minutes. There is nothing in the area apart from a very, very small shop. If you want to eat out its a long way to go and you also have to factor in the cost at around £8 each way before 8pm and double after 8pm. Also beware of the local Taxis, we told a driver in Town where we wanted to go, showed him the adress of the Riad and he agreed to take us, only to get half way in the middle of nowehere, pitch black and tell us to get out as he had reached his limit. it appears that local taxis are not authorised to go out as far as the Kasbah.
Would we recommend the Kasbah? yes most definitley if you are not planning on going into Town regularly, but if you are I would suggest you look for alternatives nearer.

Just come back from lovely few days in Marrakech staying at the Dar Ilham. Beautiful Riad, fantastic pool, lovely rooms, excellent staff. Fabulous big warm swimming pool and jacuzzi. The riad is some way out of Marrakech, so you need a taxi or the local bus to get in and out which adds to your costs, but the hotel will help with this. Food is excellent - huge breakfast, great coffee. Evening meal equally delicious but rather expensive for a family every night, coming in at over 30 euro per head. Had there been a smaller more flexible a la carte menu (the evening dinner is 3 huge courses) we would have eaten there every night.

Room Tip: The suites are all fine for a family, but ask for an extra blanket to stop your children fighting ov...

Dear Reading Reading UK,

Thank you very much for having taken a little time to write this review about Riad Dar Ilham and all the very positive points you have mentioned on it:

‘ Lovely few days’, ‘beautiful Riad’, ‘fantastic pool’, ‘lovely rooms’, ‘excellent staff’, ‘excellent food’ ‘fabulous big warm swimming pool and Jacuzzi’....
What could you expect more for relaxing holidays?

However, the management would like to precise few points on your comment so that future guests benefit from all the necessary information to choose our Riad for their holidays in Marrakech:

- Being a little way out from the city centre is the guarantee, for our guests, of a quiet and peaceful stay. Obviously, a little local bus or shuttle ride is the price of this peacefulness. To be pleasant to our guests we provide them with free local bus tickets for the city centre during the whole stay, our partner shuttle service company practices negotiate rates which are half price than regular taxis for transports to our guest house,

- Our evening meal is served for 25 € per person, this rate does not include drinks,

- Our staff has always done and will ever do his best to satisfy our guests. If they have any particular requests we definitely invite them to express their needs so that we can provide them with fast and quick solutions.

Thank you very much,

Asma Ammor
General Manager
