“Not to be missed, it's a must in Marrakech”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2009

Riad Assakina lives up every bit to how it has been reviewed as a haven in the medina.

The riad has been beautifully renovated in a manner that respects the rich tradition and provenance. Evey aspect to the experience has been thought of in great detail.

The team were always on hand to ensure we effortlessley slipped in to everything that is hip in Marrakech - from hidden gems in the souks to the best places to spend an evening out.

Originally we had only booked for 5 nights but came back for more after 2 nights in Essaouira. Not to be missed!

After a long, hot bike ride from the desert Riad Assakina was a sanctuary in the madness that is Marrakech. We were only able to stay for one night but Grant & Michelle were very helpful, sorting out parking for the bike and advising us on how we could get the best out of the City in the short time we were there. We would recommend this Riad to anyone visiting Marrakech - you will have a very warm welcome and its a great place to stay.

Assakina is a welcomed oasis in the hustle and bustle of the Medina. The Riad has been beautifully restored and decorated. Each room is has a different theme, and the courtyard, salon and roof terrace are fantastic areas to chill out after a hard days shopping/bargaining at the souks. The pool was a welcomed relief from the heat of Marrakech for us, and was greatly appreciated! Afternoon tea and cakes served each day also made a lovely welcome back to the Riad from our excursions out into the medina.
Michelle's recommendations for restaurants and bars and navigation to and around the Souks have been indespensible. The team at the Riad Assakina have contributed to a truly memorable stay and a great experience for our first time in Marrakesh.

Spent a long weekend weekend at Riad Assakina (for friend’s 50th). It was tremendous. Assakina is a beautiful sanctuary of calm in a wonderfully hectic and crazy city. We held a ‘Big Party’ on the Saturday night and Grant & Michelle didn't just accommodate our needs but joined in the (ridiculous) fun! It was a magical if slightly unhinged evening.

All the staff were so warm, friendly and helpful and the dinner we had in the riad was exemplary.

We’d certainly recommend this fantastic riad to anyone planning a trip to Marrakech…in fact we have, at every opportunity, even to those not planning a trip there!

As a Marrakech neophyte, I was enthralled with the city and can’t wait to get back there. I think having a beautiful riad to return to after a hot, dusty, busy and frenetic day made it that bit more special. We shall be back…as soon as schedules and holidays allow.

All in all, there couldn’t have been a better way to share a birthday and spend a weekend with good friends.

Riad Assakina is a truly first class Riad, Grant & Michelle and their team looked after us extremely well and we felt very welcome and relaxed at all times. We were given excellent advice about where to go and eat and advice about the Souks. The evening meal we had was fantastic and the standard of cooking is what you would expect in a high end restaurant in Marrakech. The Riad has been designed beautifly and entering the Riad for the first time would take anyone's breath away. A superb stay and we will be returning soon !

It was our (me and my girlfriend Nina) visit in Morocco. We choose Raid Assakina for our stay in Marrakesh and we were so happy with our choice. The decor at this riad is stunning. The rooms are very stylish with wonderful Morrocan antiques.
Michelle and Grant are excellent hosts and give great shopping and tourist tips. The riad is located close to the Bahia Palace and an easy walk to most of the Medina
Definitely it is one of the best riads in Marrakesh and we recommend it to all.
