This was my third visit to Marrakech and so I know that after driving from the airport through the hustle and bustle to a tiny narrow street a wooden door will await with a beautiful Riad behind. Riad Assakina did not disappoint as it is simply lovely, with elegant and tasteful decoration. I was travelling with my husband and two other couples and they all thought the Riad was beautiful. We also all had our rooms upgraded which was a fabulous surprise. I won't go on to describe every room etc as it has already been done on many posts...Just to say the very cold plunge pool on the ground floor was stunning and much needed as it was so hot upstairs on the terrace.
The owners Grant and Michelle were delayed by the french air traffic strike and so we were met by Noelle who works with a team of ladies from 8-5 to run the Riad like clockwork. She was very calm and helpful and all the staff including those cleaning the rooms were extremely polite. In the evening Hisham and one other man ( who was lovely but I have forgotten his name) looked after the Riad. Hisham was both patient and kind with a good sense of humour. He was very, very helpful on our first evening (too long to go into here) and also advised on trips and restaurants as well as bringing us lovely wine and olives on the terrace where we watched the storks and chilled.
Hisham and Noelle recommended the Belgi Country Club a pool and restaurant just outside of the town which we enjoyed and was a welcome break from the Souks. We ate at Le Fondouk on the terrace which I would recommend and Bo-zin which is more for the atmosphere and dancing than the food but is stylish and fun. We also ate at Tanjire which is near the Riad. It is beautifully decorated and the food is good but it was very quiet and the service could have had more of a smile! We had a lunch in the Riad which was excellent and I wish we had eaten more meals there but it is hard to squeeze everything in to a three night break.
We met Grant and Michelle late on our second day and they were also very friendly and helpful. Michelle booked us in for a Hammam at the Les Baines de Marrakech which was very relaxing.
I would definitely recommend Riad Assakina and hope to return one day soon
