“Good food, reasonable prices, good entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Great experience overall as far as touristic restaurants go. Original shows and nice non-stop moroccan music throughout dinner. The food is good and reasonably priced. The restaurant itself is a piece of history and architecture well-worth checking out.

“Brilliant mistake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013 via mobile

Great night out! Interesting trek to find the place, but once we did, it was amazing! The waiters were lovely, and seemed to really appreciate us making the effort to speak some Arabic - there was another large (and crass/embarrassing) tourist group in the room with us, who I'm sure would have found the food bland and service lacking, but you get what you give... There was a duo playing music and a belly dancer which was unexpectedly entertaining.

We ordered the set menu - the Moroccan salads for entree were delicious and substantial, and a trio of targines for main were delicious - the chicken with lemon and olives was particularly great. For desert, go the flaked almonds and cream, or the cinnamon orange. All of course followed by mint tea and biscuits.

All up for 3 including a bottle of wine came to under MAD1000.

“A feast for the eyes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We were trying to find a highly recommended Ryad restaurant and, rather fortunately, stumbled across this one by chance. Opulent tiled rooms led to a large dining room with live music, belly dancers and lots of tourists dining at the many tables scattered around the room. We were initially unsure as to whether to stay, being wary of the set menus, however, we asked for the small a la carte menu, ordered and stayed. Our food was delicious, particularly the assorted moroccan salads(1 portion was enough for 2-3 people), couscous and vegetarian tagine, the service was attentive and a photographic exploration of the many beautiful rooms was the icing on the cake. Our meal for 3 adults cost €68 with a bottle of wine, a typical price for the area.

“enjoyable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We went to Pepenero without booking and were asked to book for 2 days later. Wonderering where to go, the restaurant manager very kindly asked us what type of food we liked and asked one of his staff to take us to Dar Essalam. It was a bit of a walk so very nice of them. Really pleased with the place, very, very special. it is all set menus 250 to 350. We had the cheapest and selected salads which were really nice, lentils, broad beans, aubergine etc. Main course was chicken tagine which was gorgeous followed by fruit, biscuit and mint tea. we are finding that prices are the same as at home, so not cheap, but good value here. Entertainment was fun, live band all night, belly dancer and a lady who danced with a tray on her head! Tourist place, but we are tourists. Service was friendly, a really nice evening.

“Great entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We went here on our last night, great belly dancers and the service is second to none. The food was very traditional and was great. The archetecture of the building is wonderful. Would recommend you try this. has to be booked in advance as well.
