“The "Groupon" girls report”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2011

As a seasoned world traveller, who enjoys as much luxury as possible and who loves and visits Marakkech every year, (one of my favourite places), I usually shy away from a venue catering to European tourists. I stayed at Eden Andalou with my best friend as a girls birthday relaxation and was drawn to stay here as a Groupon deal. We enjoyed the daily massage which after a trip to the Souks, (was desperately needed), the superb interior design of the main reception rooms and our room was comfortable. There was alot of maintenance and constant cleaning and although I would say that services could have been improved for the 5* rating, the reception staff was friendly and helpful. Beware of the sharing of taxis with other Groupon members to return to the airport at the end of the trip (we ended up paying twice despite being told that the 3 of us would share the cost as a group) which was cheeky and left a bit of a bad taste! All in all, I have recommended this to my cousin as it is a nice place to stay, particularly if it is the first time, as it was for my friend to Marakkech.

My boyfriend and i stayed at Eden Andalou last week with the Groupon deal as were many others that were staying at the same time.
The hotel itself is lovely. The pool is big with plenty of loungers and the room we stayed in was massive!
Unlike some people that have commnented on here we found the staff to be super friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble! However i guess if you treat someone well and make an effort with the language then they will be nice back.
The food is what lets them down and this was the only thing that we had any issue with. The buffett breakfast was the same every morning which got a bit dull and the dinner only varied slightly. The quality of the food was a little bit disapointing but as we were there only 3 nights it was doable. There are two other restaurants on site which are not buffett and which you pay a little extra for however we did not try them.
The pool side bar is lovely although the food is expensive - the restaurant by the main reception is cheaper and then food is ok. Drink prices are a little high (about £2 for 1L water and £2.50 for a small bottle of beer)
Their shuttle bus into the old town (about 20mins) was great and departs hourly. We booked ours in advance the night before and had no problems.
The spa was a little 'tired'. The massage which was included in the Groupon deal was good although yes they do massage your boobs but they do this in all places in Marrakesh that i have been to. If you dont want them to then just say so. I dont like my feet massaged so just mentioned it and they skipped that part.
Ocerall we had a fab few days and really enjoyed the hotel. Just dont go expecting the full on 5* experiance and you will be fine.

Firstly I have to say that I am a well travelled person who has stayed at different star rating hotels around the world but this hotel should be done under the trade description act. This hotel advertises itself very loudly and proudly that it is a 5* establishment but I would rate it at the very best as an upper 3* to lower 4* hotel. I travelled with my wife on the Groupon offer and thankfully only stayed for 3 nights. Having read the other reviews I strongly agree with the views of Dimpsxxx. When you stay at any hotel in the world regardless of whichever star rating it is you expect to be greeted as a valued guest on arrival and similarly on departure. At no point were we thanked for anything and this is supposed to be a 5* hotel! Forget it, they are only after your money. We too went to the spa for treatments but only ended up having one as we were not very impressed with the facilities or massage. The staff lead you to the changing rooms which is very indiscrete as you can be totally naked and in full view. The massage itself was average to say the least and my wife had her breasts exposed and massaged which was awkward to say the least. Marrakesh is worth a visit to experience the souks and we got the free hotel shuttle bus at 15:00 and returned on the 19:30. To summarise I would say that the Groupon offer wasn't too bad in terms of value but the hotel is lacking in so many ways and is definitely not a 5* hotel.

I went with my boyfriend on the Groupon deal, like many others who have written reviews. Our overall impression was positive, as long as you don't go there with the expectation that you might receive the same level of service that you would at a 5* hotel in the UK. If we had paid full price we would have been disappointed, but the deal was good value.

There are some reviewers who have complained of poor service but we did not find this to be the case - the staff were very friendly and accommodating to us as we made an effort to be polite and friendly to them, and to try and speak French. I suspect that the people who received bad sevrice were probably not treating the staff with the level of courtesy that they should have done. We stayed an extra night but did not experience any of the problems with getting our free dinner or massage unlike the earlier reviewer - again I suspect this is because we had made an effort ot be friendly to the staff who were therefore more willing to be helpful.

The rooms and the pool and grounds were lovely, clean and spacious. The pool was especially nice with comfortable sun loungers and big umbrellas, as well as cabanas. Our only gripe was with the food - the buffet at breakfast and dinner was plentiful but repetitive. The lunches were quite expensive and there was little choice, although we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pizza served at the poolside bar. It is also expensive to buy water and soft drinks, especially since you can't drink the tap water and can't buy from anywhere else nearby.

The massages were great, especially since they were included as part of the deal. They do usually massage your breasts but they were ok with not doing this if you asked them not to.

We did take the shuttle bus to Marrakech but when we tried to get the one back at 8.30pm (the last one of the night) it was very overbooked so we ended up getting a taxi. This was annoying but not enough to ruin the holiday.

We had a very relaxing trip which was, for the most part, free of problems with the hotel and staff. I would consider going back if Groupon did another deal.

Just returned from wonderful Marrakesh and great stay at Eden Andelou. The reception areas and 2 outdoor pools were spectacular.
Our room was very comfortable and led on to well maintained gardens. The breakfast was plentifull and was taken outside by the swimming pool. As part of our Groupon deal a daily massage was included and I must say this was quite an average experience, but apart from that I would be highly recommend the hotel.

I very rarely write reviews for hotels even though I travel quite a lot, both personally and with work, but I felt I had to come and shout out for this great hotel and counteract all of the negative reviews. On looking back at the negative reviews, the things people complained about were really minor niggly things that they could have easily overlooked in favour of all the great things about the hotel!

We had a superb time here, I stayed for 7 nights as part of a groupon deal, like a lot of other people there, and our experience far exceeded just value for money.

Welcome: From the outset the staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly, from the transfer at the airport, to checking in, to the guy who took our luggage to our room. We were checked in swiftly and easily, and someone took our bags up to our room.

Rooms: The rooms are superb, with lovely comfy beds, a great bathroom (I always judge a hotel by the standard of the bathroom, it's the first thing I look at!), beautiful moroccan decor and all of the amenities you would expect from a 4/5* hotel ie flat screen tv, safe, etc. The rooms were cleaned every day with clean towels and sheets, Sometimes when we came back there were rosepetals left which I thought was lovely!

Pools: There are two main pools, one Olympic sized pool which was spotlessly clean, and nice and quiet when we were there (17-24 September), and another smaller pool. There were plenty of sunbeds and also relaxation beds. The service beside the pool is also impeccable, with staff on hand to take orders and bring your drinks without you ever having to move a muscle!

Restaurants: There are three restaurants. An American Style buffet, an Italian and a Moroccan. Food in all three was delicious but I would say that it is closer to good 3* than 5*, like someone else has already said. You do have to sign for all of your drinks and food to your room, which I was aware of before going after reading reviews, but it really isn't that expensive. A 2L bottle of water is 25 Dirhams (£1.90), a 300ml bottle of Heineken is about 35MAD (£2.70), in short the prices are similar to at home. Av. cost for a meal in the restaurants is 130-160MAD (£10-12) Any 5* hotel in the UK you will pay a lot more. Just try and keep track of what you're spending, so you won't be shocked at the end. Yes, OK, the service was slower than we're used to in the UK, but personally I prefer to be left alone to enjoy my meal, not like in the UK when waiters try and rush you out the door as soon as they can, so I was happy enough.

Excursions: There are a number of excursions that go from the hotel, however I think the guides only speak French so check before you book. We took an excursion to visit the souks and the guide was superb. It was great to hear the history and to see the "real" souks rather than the ones you are encountered with at the beginning which are very touristy. as I said though the guide only spoke French (I speak French so it was fine but you wouldn't get the full benefit of the tour if you didn't speak French). There are also a number of free shuttle buses going in and out of the Medina during the day and into the evening, I would definitely recommend going to visit the Medina, it was fascinating!

All in all, my boyfriend had a wonderful time at the Eden Andalou, it was a very relaxing week made great by this wonderful hotel, wonderful staff, fascinating culture and beautiful weather (give or take a few overcast mornings).

Some tips: Learn some basic French, it is only in recent years that Marrakech is seeing a lot of tourists from the UK so the staff do not all speak English, keep tabs of your spending, take advantage of the shuttle bus, and enjoy!

RECOMMENDED 100%

Thanks to an exceptional Groupon deal we stayed at the Eden Andalou for very little money but were still treated the full 5 stars. Accomodation is excellent, staff are great and the location is not far from the city by (free) hotel shuttle or taxi. Food quality is good 3 star rather than 5, though. All in all highly appreciated and certainly worth a recommendation. When travelling to Marrakech avoid Ryanair though - absolute horror in all aspects!
