“a small luxury riad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2009

we spent 3 nights at the riad Massiba and we have been completly satisfied of our choice. good ambience, spacious room and bathroom, and a very good breakfast on the private terrace. Vivienne, the owner, and the staff were very kind and helpful. good value for money.

Had a wonderful and relaxing time. The staff at Riad Massiba made us feel like part of the family. We spent 4 days and 3 nights in Marrakesh. The hospitality at this riad surpasses most B&Bs around the world. The initial entrance might be deceiving, but once you are inside there is more than enough space to sit back and enjoy the sunshine on the terrace. Staying in the medina is a must when visiting Marrakesh and I would highly recommend Riad Massiba.

Spent 3 nights at Riad Massiba as part of a group of 6 friends on a golfing weekend. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, Riad in good location (and easy walk to the Souks, etc through some fascinating parts of the Medina) and the owner, Vivienne, and staff were very welcoming and friendly. Excellent breakfast and a seemingly unexhaustible supply of Flag for the early evening beers on the roof terrace before venturing back into the city for more fun. Excellent.

We were very well looked after by the proprietor, Vivienne. Rooms comfortable with on suite bathrooms and copious hot water. A hearty breakfast at the time of your choosing set you up for the day. Early evening drink on the roof terrace listening to the call to prayer is a must.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2008

Although we only stayed at Riad Massiba for one day, we felt like we were part of the 'family' and we really felt like home. As soon as we arrived we were offered traditional mint tea and water in a secluded lounge with sofa and curtains. The riad has a small front door but once you step in you can see the spacious and cool courtyard (which is very nice in July). The owner, madam Vivienne, a french lady greeted us enthusiatically with full-on French, and luckily the house keeper, Ahmed, very friendly and helpful could provide us a translating service into English. After tea we were shown to our rooms. All the three rooms are ensuite. The room on the ground floor has a four-poster bed (As you will see if you search on search engines), a lounge chair and an interesting shower 'capsule'. The second bedroom on first floor that has a red romantic theme with a slightly more enclosed shower. Both rooms have their nice features and all basic toiletories are provided. There were four of us and no other guests, so we pretty much took over the riad. The flight of stair leads to the terrace. It is high-walled, spacious and nicely decorated with plantations. Because of the high walls, we felt very private but not isolated. The terrace has a large corner sofa with lace curtain, 2 sun lounges, a large table with fabric shelter (for breakfast), and a shower area. We couldnt get enough of the terrace and we almost skipped our first day in Marrakech because the riad itself is very enjoyable. At this point our mint tea glasses were refilled. We were given a set of keys for each room so we were free to come and go. Ahmed the housekeeper is very attentive, he doesnt stay on site but he made sure we all got back safely and all needs are met before he goes home (and reappear early in the morning). The beds and pillows are very comfortable for a small accomodation.

Next morning we enjoyed our luxurious continental breakfast in the terrace. We were offered coffee, various types of tea, and orange juice, and we opted for the mint tea. There were 4 types of bread with some freshly made moroccan pancakes (M'semmen), with jam and honey, and fresh fruits. Possibly one of the best Continental breakfast you will experienced, in terms of the food and atmosphere.

The rooms costed 75Euros/night each which we booked through a third-party website. Overall it worth every penny of that and we all loved the friendliness of everyone from the riad.

  • Liked — The setting and the staff
  • Disliked — The aged tile floorings which attract ants into the ground floor room, but no big deal!
