“10 out of 10 - felt like home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014

Riad Elizabeth was our choice for the final leg of our three week Spain/Morocco vacation - we couldn't have made a better decision. We were treated like family from the moment we arrived until our departure.

Here's the overview:

Staff: The best we encountered, by far. Upon booking, John, the owner, emailed us offering to arrange transportation, activities, spa services, ect. His kindness was continued throughout our 4 night stay as he went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. Samira was sweet as pie, helping us get around and serving as a huge support as we tried to navigate the maze that is the medina of Marrakech. Yousef, the night watchman, was a smiling face we were happy to see after a long night of exploring. We can't remember a time when we wasn't smiling.

Location: Perfect. Incredibly quiet amidst the hustle and bustle while only a 2 minute walk from taxis, bodegas and quaint shops and a 10 minute walk from the craziness of the night market.

Amenities: Amazing rooftop with lounge chairs, games, music, beverages, books, couches and anything else we could have wanted.

Next time we make our way to Marrakech, we'll be staying at Riad Elizabeth. We can't wait.

Well what a wonderful experience we had staying at Riad Elizabeth. Almost as soon as we booked we were contacted by the owners, Jon and Elizabeth, who impressed us with some really helpful tourist information. They were open and honest about any charges on card payments and responded to all our questions within hours which was greatly appreciated. The trips they highlighted were well worth it and a lot cheaper than anywhere we could have found ourselves for the same quality.

Upon arriving we were treated like royalty. Greeted at the door and presented with mint tea and authentic Moroccan biscuits, whilst Samira (the manager) gave us a local map and helped a great deal with finding all the hotspots. We were then upgraded to the Olivia suite which was so beautiful – rose petals and clean beyond perfection. We were warned some other guests thought it was a bit loud but we did not find this to be the case. Marrakesh is noisy in general!

Samira looked after us throughout our stay and did a fantastic job. She checked in with us every morning and before she went home to check if we needed anything arranging on our behalf – whether it be planning trips, booking transport or assisting with questions and queries.

Someone we haven’t seen mentioned in other trip advisor recommendations was Mohammad. A night porter who made our stay really stand out with his constant attention and beautiful attitude to looking after us. We ran out of cigarettes on night, so he went out and got them. We wanted nibbles really late at night (after the kitchen had closed) and without hesitation he organised this. He was so happy and friendly, we will never forget him. A real charmer and asset to the Riad.

My girlfriend was very ill on the last night and everyone was so eager to help. Made all the more special by an email from the owners once we left asking if she was okay.

If you visit Marrakesh stay at Riad Elizabeth – we know we will be returning.

Room Tip: Stay on the first floor if possible, we saw 2 rooms as were given a complimentary upgrade and both w...

We stayed here for 7 days for our honeymoon after just getting married, we checked the Riad Elizabeth's web pages and when we arrived it was everything we expected and so much more. Prior to our arrival the Riad owners Elizabeth and John gave us some very helpful advice and booking a hamman locally and also other actives we wanted. When we arrived Mohammed greeted us and we felt extremely welcome. Also Sanira was amazing we felt very well looked after and was very knowledgeable and extremely professional. The riad it's self very very well kept and rooms are clean large and with excellent air con, pudge pool is private and grea to cool down during those hot day of 30-40 degrees, we also had a lovely suprise waiting for us in our room as it was our honeymoon (many thanks by the way) all the maids and chefs where fantastic, extremely friendly the food at the riad is incredible and plentiful also breakfast are varied and well prepared. Awesome location very close to the excitement that Marrakech have to offer.

Highly recommended and we would like the thank each and every member of the team at the Riad Elizabeth

Many thanks Neil & Victoria

I stayed in Riad Elizabeth for 3 days in July 2014 and our stay was really pleasant. John and Samira were helpful, doing their best to help us make the most of our days in Marrakech, arranging guides for us and booking nice restaurants. The Riad is just marvelous, with a nice pool to relax in the evening and really comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms with AC.
We will come back without a doubt!
If you stay here, don't miss a dinner in the Riad, the food is really good, by far the best we tried in Marrakech.

Sara & Julian

A wonderful little boutique hotel in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. On arrival we were greeted by Samira and Yousef, who I have to say are the most welcoming friendly people. We were offered mint tea and sweets and shown all the wonderful places to visit.
Samira was very attentive, she recommended restaurants, even taking us there on our first night so we wouldn't get lost. She organised taxis and reservations and was always on hand to answer any questions we had. Yousef was very helpful and nothing was too much to ask. The hotel itself had a peaceful feel and all staff were very friendly. It felt like home from home. John and Elizabeth, the owners, were most welcoming. They recommended the hammam which we decided to book,we were not disappointed. A must do!!!! the only thing that became slightly tedious were the locals trying to make a quick buck, offering to guide you, take you to different places. Hey!!! you can't knock them for trying to make a little extra money, I suppose. The food cooked at the riad was amazing, I would recommend trying it atleast once and then exploring what else Marrakech has to offer... There is no TV in the room but there is free wifi, I'd say bring a laptop if you can. Air con was fab and showers great. All in all a very well run riad with a very welcoming feel.

Very nice place, well-run, excellently constructed (never had such good showers in a hotel before, perfect airco). Rooms are a bit dark, and there is no in-room tv, but there is excellent speedy WiFi and a window openingon the courtyard. Nice roof terrace, you can take your own drinks. Best of all: cook that served the best food we've had in Morocco. Owner John is wonderful: experienced hotelowner, integrous, kind & knows all about the city and where to go (and not on the basis of commission!). Staff is very friendly (only they left our door/window unlocked after cleaning --since the riad is accessed by a very limited number of people (only one other room (of six) was in use) I don't think it was a big risk, but you might consider not leaving valuables inside. There is a tiny safe with keylock.)

The riad is in the Medina (old city within city walls) which means that, when you take your own taxi from outside the area you always have to walk the last bit--and will get hussled by the many young men wanting to earn some money. So they'll ask for 5 euros to guide you--taking a long tour, when the riad is just around the corner.... Learn to find your way as fast as you can and do take a recommended guide when you go into the soukhs the first time, best advice I can give. I regret very much we didn't take a guide: what happens is this: gentleman makes a kind remark, like expressing concern for your safety in the street, next you get invited (but I am not a guide! they say), then hassled, yelled at when you try to gracefully decline : it gave us a very bad mood and dislike for the area. If you go along with a guide in the street you need constant negotiating and you might still end up in the wrong place. If you need someone to help you on your way: settle what you give first, and don't pay till you are at a point where you really know the way yourself- you could otherwise just be left anywhere with some invalid instructions.

The taxi that the hotel relies on, by the way, has a deal with respect to charges (40 dirham n the Medina, 70 out). Outside the medina however you find taxis with metres, they are extremely cheap (for example 8 dirham for circling half the city). The friendly taxi-driver from the hotel also tries to get more money from you (like everyone in Morocco it seems), only he is very friendly if you disagree...

Such a beautiful riad - we had a lovely stay. The staff are all so friendly and made everything easy for us. It is beautifully decorated and extremely clean.
The air con works wonders - which we were very grateful for during our stay in July when the temperature outside went up to 40C!!
The shower in our room worked better than the shower we have at home.
There is beautiful roof terrace with shade to relax with a drink after a long hot day exploring.
I would reccommend to anyone.
